I started taking Yasmin about six months ago, though I should mention that I had already gained a bit of weight right before I began, and I actually decided to start a diet at almost the exact same time as starting the medication.
Despite putting in what felt like an incredible amount of effort over these last six months, I’ve only managed to lose about 6 or 7 pounds, which feels quite discouraging.
To give you a little more context, I’ve always struggled with maintaining my weight since I tend to gain it fairly easily; there were several times in the past where I gained about 25 pounds, but I was always able to drop it all within three months by exercising consistently and cutting out sweets and processed baked goods.
This time around, I spent three months stuck at home studying for the LSAT, during which I was eating strictly low-calorie meals and spending nearly an hour every single day on the elliptical, yet nothing seemed to work—even though I know from experience that I really ought to be losing weight. It’s almost as if I’ve hit a wall, and interestingly, after those three months passed, I started eating without much control, but I’m still not gaining any weight; I feel as though I might just be permanently stuck at this specific number on the scale.
It occurs to me that it’s entirely possible my metabolism might be slowing down as I approach my 30s, though I suppose the only real new variable in all of this is the Yasmin.
I was wondering if anyone else might have gone through something similar, and if so, perhaps you could suggest how one might navigate this?
Unplanned pregnancy in Women's Health ·
I actually had my procedure about a month ago, but I was at a hospital in Chicago, so I can mostly speak to how things work here in the States. I imagine it’s probably pretty similar if you were looking at a facility in a place like Los Angeles.
First off, I’d suggest checking which specific hospitals actually perform these procedures, since not every local clinic offers them. You’ll usually need to head to the OB-GYN department for an initial ultrasound, and you might also need to stop by a lab to get your blood type confirmed.
After that, they’ll schedule you for the actual procedure, which I guess only takes about 15 minutes. It wasn't painful for me, just maybe a little uncomfortable, as the local anesthesia seems to do the trick quite well. The total cost ended up being around $667. Once it's over, you'll probably just need to rest for two or three hours before you can head home. They generally don't mind if a friend comes along to support you, so that shouldn't be an issue.
Once you're discharged, you'll likely need to pick up some antibiotics and something to help manage the bleeding (it costs about $13), which you'll take for about a week. It's also normal to experience bleeding that feels similar to a regular period.
I found that taking it easy for three or four days after the procedure was helpful, and then everything seemed to settle down fine.
Overall, I don't think it's as scary as people make it out to be, though the waiting around at the hospital can be a bit tedious.
I honestly expected to be the only one there, but it turns out these procedures are quite common in hospitals, and many women find themselves in similar situations.
For the most accurate details, I'd recommend calling the OB-GYN departments at your local hospitals directly.
Miscarriage at a private clinic in Health ·
I found out today that I'm pregnant, and it seems like an abortion is my only option right now.
Since I've never navigated a situation quite like this before, I was wondering if anyone might have some information regarding whether it's generally better to go through a hospital or see a private specialist. I'm also curious about what the typical procedure looks like and how much I should expect to pay, as well as any recommendations for reputable private clinics that specialize in ensuring there are no complications for my future pregnancies.
Thanks so much for any help you can provide.
