silentwolf53 said:I’ve been using Yaz for a few months now—everything’s been totally fine, no breakthrough bleeding or anything, just standard textbook stuff. It’s my 8th day of the cycle, and I’m probably heading to the beach around day 23... I really don't want to be dealing with my period while I'm away. Question: If I skip the break after day 24 and just start the next pack immediately, how long can I actually guarantee I won't bleed? Like, will it stay away until the end of this second pack, or maybe even before?
Hey ladies, 😉 you can basically keep taking them for as long as you need to delay things... if you're going to be at the beach for a week, maybe just take seven pills from the new pack and then take your break... that’s what I’m planning to do myself... because, I guess, as long as you keep taking them, you usually won't get it...
I don't really have the time to sit down and read everything right now, and maybe someone else has already brought this up, but I'm thinking about not taking a 7-day break for the first time. Like, I might just pop open a new pack immediately after finishing the 21st pill to try and skip the withdrawal bleeding altogether. I guess I just have this nagging feeling that doing that might be pretty rough on my system, and honestly, I wouldn't want to do it often or without a really solid reason, so if anyone happens to have any info on whether that's actually "bad" for you?
Hey, I was wondering if there are any women in this group who might be willing to shoot me a DM? I’d love to hear a little bit about what it’s actually like when a woman visits a urologist 😁
So, my mom was prescribed this "HEPAN" cream for her hemorrhoids, but she’s honestly pretty bummed out about it. She says it still stings like crazy, and if you actually look at the instructions, it doesn't even explicitly say it's meant for hemorrhoids, which I guess is kind of weird. Now she's just stuck wondering what else she can try. Has anyone here ever used that stuff, or maybe you know of something that actually works better?
So, I've been on Diane 35 for about 14 months now, and before I even thought about stopping, I actually posted on some forums to ask what my first period would be like. Most girls there said theirs was at least a few days late before things finally leveled out, and my best friend even told me hers was delayed by like 13 whole days! Well, mine totally caught me off guard because it showed up three days earlier than usual—which is how it normally goes when you're on the pill—not to mention the total nightmare of leaking through my clothes during class, which happened like 17 days ago. And then, I wake up today and it's like 😕 just absolutely flooding me again after being gone for two and a half weeks. Not to even mention how much discharge I'm dealing with lately when I'm not bleeding; I feel like I have to change my liners multiple times a day because, honestly, heavy-duty pads are probably the only way to go 🙄 it's just gross. Some days my pants get so soaked that it makes those bad days when I'm not on my period feel a hundred times worse 👎, and then you add this sudden bleeding back into the mix. I'm seriously counting down the days until I can get back on my regular pills 😢 Has anyone else dealt with anything similar?
I see there's already a thread going about period cramps, but most of the talk over there seems to be just venting about how much they hurt and how basically nothing actually works... So, I was mostly wondering which specific pills you guys usually grab on that first day, or maybe just whenever the pain gets so bad that you absolutely have to take something... If possible, I'm looking for stuff that actually does the trick for you, something you're genuinely happy with, and that you can just pick up over the counter at a local pharmacy without needing a prescription?
Benjamin Taylor4 said:My OB-GYN told me to start my birth control pills on day three of my period and said they’d kick in immediately. However, the packaging says you can start anytime between day two and day five, but you need to use backup protection for the first seven days. So, does that mean they don't actually start working until after those seven days are up? I read somewhere else that they don't take effect until the next pack starts, and now I'm just totally confused.
From what I understand, if you start the pill on the very first day of your period, it works immediately, but if you wait until the fifth day, then yeah, it might not really kick in until the next cycle like you mentioned... I guess for starting on day three, which is kind of right in the middle, I'm honestly not entirely sure...

But honestly? Since I started taking them again, my face has been totally clear, zero acne. Mmm... maybe a stray pimple pops up right before my period, but that's about it...
Ah, okay... so, I guess, during that year when you weren't taking them, how was your skin doing then?
Oh, and one more thing... I read somewhere—I think it was on page 38 of some guide—that you really need to get bloodwork done before starting birth control, and that things like liver enzymes, cholesterol, and iron levels are super important... So, my AST liver enzyme has been running high for about nine months now; the upper limit is usually around 38, but I’m sitting at over 50... I’m heading to my OB-GYN this Monday, and I can't help but wonder, do you think that might stop them from prescribing the pill to me? Just like I mentioned in my last post, I'm mainly looking to deal with my acne...
Hey, can someone give a 17-year-old girl a quick rundown of what her first gynecologist appointment is actually like? Like, how long does it usually take, what kind of stuff they do during the exam, and honestly, what's the whole vibe or feeling of it all?
Hey, if I could just jump in here 🙂 I actually just started using tampons this past summer for those exact same reasons, so I guess we’re all pretty much in the same boat 🙂 It definitely doesn't feel super smooth the very first time, but I think every girl out there can tell you that once you get the hang of it, it becomes second nature really fast 😉 I was also totally terrified about how far I'd have to push it in, so I was being so careful and could basically feel everything, but now it’s like, oops, almost a whole thumb's length gone and that's that...
But okay, switching gears for a sec... I know it might be the opposite for a bunch of people—like they're scared or just straight-up hate the idea of tampons—but honestly, it's not even a big deal to me anymore. EXCEPT! Once I realize it’s time to go change it, I swear I just lose it! It’s not like it's incredibly scary or anything, and it doesn't even hurt that much, but I just have this totally irrational phobia of those little strings! Like, I'll be pulling and pulling to get it out, just praying to God, please don't snap, please don't snap 🙂 I mean, it’s never actually happened to me, obviously, but I was wondering if there's any actual chance that because of the resistance or how deep it is, the string could snap while pulling and leave the tampon stuck halfway? I know the odds are probably like 0.01% or something and I don't even know what my actual fear level is, but that's the only thing that makes the whole tampon situation awkward for me... does anyone else get what I'm saying?
