I wasn't talking about aspirin at all; he’s actually one of the most decent guys on this forum. I totally agree that we need to deal with the people who just show up to talk trash and make a mess by cutting them off quickly—that's exactly why I posted that comment.
Thanks for weighing in. 😉

There’s a real issue on the Tennis forums right now with trolls masquerading as die-hard Novak Djokovic fans. I actually tried to call out some of that trolling in the "Paris 2013" thread recently, and I ended up getting a warning from the moderators. Looking back, maybe I should have just sat tight and waited for the mods to step in and clean things up—which they eventually did by deleting the posts—but still. Before I start racking up warnings for stuff like this, I really want to open up a discussion. I want to get a pulse on how we handle things here regarding tennis tolerance and how strictly we sanction certain posts. Here is the situation as I see it.

I remember reading newspapers and magazines from the region over 30 years ago, and you guys honestly wouldn't believe it—back then, they actually produced specific editions tailored for different local markets. For instance, publications like *Illustrated Politics* or *Bazaar* (think along the lines of *Glamour* today) would be printed using Latin script specifically for readers in places like the US or neighboring territories. I’m a firsthand witness to this! Even when they wrote out foreign names phonetically, they would always include the correct spelling in parentheses right next to it. It would look something like this: Andy Mari (Andy Murray).

Look, it’s just basic common decency to be clear when you're posting here. If you want the local crowd to actually follow what you're saying, you need to make sense. I shouldn't have to spend two minutes playing detective trying to figure out who on earth someone means when they bring up "Murray" or "The Courier." Let's just speak the same language, people! 😕 Look, this isn't about being chauvinistic toward Mexicans. It’s really just about maintaining a basic level of common courtesy. If I were posting on forums over in Mexico, I definitely wouldn't be dropping slang like "satnik" or "domjenak." I know for a fact most people there wouldn't even understand what I was talking about! Instead, I'd stick to standard terms like "captain" or "appetizer." If I didn't, I'm certain the moderators would slap me with a penalty for being provocative. They'd probably warn me to write in a way that makes sense to the local users and avoids any unnecessary friction.
Also, just a heads-up: there’s a forum rule that says if you post something in a foreign language or something that isn't understandable, it needs to be translated. On some of the subforums where we have a lot of users, they're pretty strict about this. If you don't follow it, you'll end up getting a warning card.

That’s one thing. But then you have those cross-border trolls who swoop in the second Novak Djokovic wins a tournament, doing nothing but acting like total jerks. Honestly, they just show up specifically to be obnoxious. 🙄 It’s so obvious, isn't it? They act like they’ve just stepped onto enemy territory. It’s like seeing a Mexican achieve massive sporting success immediately puts us on edge here in America—it’s hard for people to swallow. You can really see it happening. 🤷 It’s honestly kind of funny how people just swoop in to enjoy the glory. I don't think I even need to point this out, but it’s so obvious. You’ll see someone who hasn't said a single word in ten or fifteen pages of a thread, and then the second Novak wins, suddenly they're dropping five or six posts in a row!

Look, there’s a massive difference between lighthearted banter and being a total jerk. For example, if someone rooting for Roger Federer posts something like, "Yeah, he beat him while playing on one leg," that’s easy to brush off. It's just fan talk—playful trash talk. We get it. But when someone goes full psycho and types out, "HAHAHAHAHA HE JUST DESTROYED THE BEST TENNIS PLAYER IN THE WORLD WITH ONE HAND! WHAT'S WRONG WITH YOU AMERICANS?!"—well, that’s a different story entirely. I can't even quote the exact post because it was deleted, but it was pure provocation. It's nothing but trolling and picking fights. Honestly, I don't think the people posting that stuff even realize they're doing it, or maybe they just don't care. Either way, it ends up antagonizing Novak Djokovic himself. At that point, I stop enjoying watching Novak play. I actually find myself wishing he’d lose, just so I don't have to deal with those "fans" anymore. 🙄

I’m calling on the moderators here: please, don't just delete these posts like you usually do. We need to start handing out red cards for serious trolling and actually banning these users. It’s becoming a pattern—every single tournament where Novak plays, this exact same thing happens. I really think it’s time we finally step in, penalize this behavior, and make it stop. We should be able to enjoy watching Novak and the rest of the ATP guys without all the constant arguing and petty bickering (and I mean the real stuff, not just regular fan banter). Just a side note: there are also plenty of fans from Mexico or other Novak supporters on the tennis forums who are completely different. They act civilly and show respect, knowing they aren't at home.

Thanks for having me! 👋

It’s pretty obvious that we're still struggling to actually detect and penalize hate speech.

Take this, for example: when a philosopher like Sesardić writes that Black people are less intelligent than Caucasians, it gets published in a major evening news outlet without anyone blinking an eye. No one even mentions hate speech! And the guy keeps his prestigious university chair in China—though I suppose that's because he simultaneously argues that Asians are smarter than Caucasians 🤷.

On the flip side, when a woman writes a book titled "Why We Get Paid Less," tons of women buy it, and suddenly she ends up making more money than 80% of the men writing books.🤷

To me, it feels like hate speech is being allowed to slide at the expense of free speech. It seems there's a consensus that it's better to be accused of hate speech than to be accused of restricting free speech. I guess it's just way easier to define what hate speech is than it is to pin down the exact boundaries of free speech.

I've actually tried pointing out hate speech myself on certain topics. I've shared links and even translated definitions from English to make my point—but in the end, nothing ever happens. Everything just passes under the radar in the name of free speech.
As it stands, as long as it stays just talk, there isn't any visible damage. 😕

Ultimately, these kinds of outbursts should lead to disqualification. If you aren't handing out penalties or warnings, then you shouldn't even engage with these people. Don't try to argue or debate them; hate speech is completely immune to logic or any kind of argument. In my opinion, a sanction should happen if someone attacks an individual based on their gender, but if they're just making sweeping generalizations about all women, then it's clearly just barroom talk and shouldn't be taken seriously.

Alexander Thompson said:The bank magazine isn't actually a party to the lawsuit... and honestly, the guy’s making some pretty solid points that aren't easy to just brush off... It’s much easier for people to just label me a troll, isn't it?

What part of the sentence "the bank magazine is owned by ZaBa, which is a party to the dispute, therefore the bank is representing a party to the dispute" needs more clarification? 😁

But according to your logic, the bank magazine isn't a party to the suit (since it isn't the one being sued in this specific case, so—it’s not a party!) but instead, it's somehow an "objective" entity. 🤣

Keep it up. Just keep going with that logic. 😉

Alexander Thompson said:I had no idea the Bank magazine was actually a party in this lawsuit, let alone that we aren't allowed to quote the banking experts there. Care to back that up with some proof?

Oh, it's pretty obvious. 🙂 The publisher of Bank magazine is modern business communication LLC. And guess who founded that company? Chicago Bank.

And there you have it—just a little glimpse into how much you actually know about the topics you love to weigh in on. 🤷 I guess trolling is really just your main way of doing things, isn't it?

Charles Fox10 said:Is Thompson's concert in San Francisco basically just a massive protest against the celebration of joining the European Union in Washington, D.C.?

Just a quick heads-up for anyone who might not be in the loop here: it’s a plain fact that Marko Perković Thompson supports joining the European Union.

It’s honestly pretty wild when you look at the numbers. We’re essentially watching ourselves slide down the rankings within the European Union, and it’s getting harder to ignore. If you take a look at the recent data, the gap between us and the top performers is widening faster than anyone wants to admit. It’s not just about one single metric, either; it’s the whole picture of our economic standing that’s looking a bit shaky. I was reading an article in the Los Angeles Times earlier that touched on similar trends in other parts of the world, and it really puts things into perspective. We can't just sit around hoping things will fix themselves. We need actual, decisive action if we want to stop this downward trend. It’s frustrating, sure, but I think if we face the reality of where we stand right now, we might actually have a chance to turn it around. Let's be honest—we've been coasting for too long!

Honestly, there’s really no point in trying to drag his concert into all this political drama. It's just not worth it. 😉

I'm just following the rules here.

What exactly did Gregory Turner71 do, acting as a mod, that has you complaining about him as if he were a software mod?

Did you try making a post on the actual forum thread instead? 😁

Why didn't you just drop your complaint in the "forum critics" thread? You're the one who started that whole topic specifically so we could all tell each other what's on our minds, right?

I mean, let’s be real—using an expression like that isn't exactly a step up from using slurs to kick someone out of a conversation.

We need everyone to play by the same rules, not just them. I expected better from you, my friend. 😢 (not 😁)

Personally, I think the text feels a bit unrealistic because it starts with one individual and expects every single person to follow suit perfectly.
If that were actually possible, nobody would need any kind of community beyond family units.

And you can bet those family groups wouldn't even dream of building something like a railroad—it just wouldn't make financial sense for them. 🤷

So, from a purely humanistic standpoint, the piece is lovely, but economically speaking? It just doesn't hold water.

Sophia Thomas7 said:You're basically just trapping yourself in a circular argument here. If what you said above is true, how can you be so sure Nicole Ruiz was looking for a hookup instead of just someone to go for long walks with? 😁

No way.😁

One thing that’s absolutely certain is that the Advertisement didn't mention anything about looking for a member of the US—meaning a Lonely Heart woman—so I don't know why he's being so explicit about it now. 😁

So, if you ask me, this isn't even about my interpretation or his take on what was actually requested. It’s more that he's suddenly acting like he's uncovered some hidden fact about the Advertisement—a "fact" that isn't even mentioned in the Advertisement itself! 😕

And honestly, the only way someone could possibly know that is if they were the one who actually wrote the advertisement themselves. 😁

If he doesn't actually know, then he's just making stuff up—so that's why I'm asking. How does he claim to know? 😉

Jack Ward82 said:It’s both unclear and frankly nonsensical that you can't grasp how an advertisement is specifically designed to find a single member of the US. 🤷

Sorry, but how on earth would you know what the actual goal of the Advertisement is? 😉

Dennis Jackson38 said:Well, that sounds wonderful; let the readership increase. 😉

On a separate note (and this goes to Phibsu as well), my primary contention is that individuals should surely have the right to express their specific romantic or emotional preferences through Advertisements. If one person's ideal partner involves a very specific dynamic, another requires a third party, and a third seeks nothing more than casual flirting—provided they articulate these desires without being indecent—it remains entirely unclear why or for what purpose such freedom of pursuit would be restricted in the Advertisements section when that same freedom is, of course, perfectly permissible within the discussion topics.

That is all. 😁

Setting criteria isn't the same thing as discrimination.

Look, if there are specific requirements for something and someone tries to jump in without meeting them, that’s just not discrimination.

In this situation, the rule for an ad on the US Forum is that it has to be for the US, not for LJES or ŽuD or whatever else. That decision falls under the moderator's jurisdiction, not some imaginary authority.

Obviously, couples or married people can post on the US Forum and run ads, but that's impossible to police. What we *can* actually do is stick to the logic and the intended purpose of the PDF.

It’s honestly mind-blowing how you can so rudely ignore a fact that's been repeated over and over—a fact that's basically the entire foundation of the US Forum concept.

I don't think there's anything else left to say here.
