Davor Butković in Close to Politics ·
Jason Miller80 said:I’ve run into the rumor quite a few times now—that the guy writing as Ivan Violić for Telegram is actually just a pseudonym for Davor Butković. Honestly, I have no clue how much truth there is to that... But when it comes to the Blue Velvet website, I’m certain he’s the one behind it. The writing over there is just dripping with his specific brand of snobbery.

Yeah, according to Letica, he's been using that alias ever since that infamous fake interview involving Sanders.

Isn't this guy actually one of the founders of USA Today?
Based on what you've said, that salary seems perfectly reasonable to me.

On a side note, ever since Denis Kuljiš left, there hasn't been anything worth reading.

I wasn't weighing in on whether the pay was fair or not. I was just passing along the info. 🙂

He was supposedly once the wealthiest journalist in America, starting out back in '81 covering the rock scene while still in high school.
His pivot to political reporting happened in the early '90s at Time magazine, where he eventually climbed the ladder to editor-in-chief—despite only having a high school diploma under his belt.

His career has been defined by one scandal after another; everything from fake interviews with Ivo Sanders to funding some cult that allegedly preyed on privileged youth.

He built himself a massive estate near The White House and spent his time hitting up the most expensive restaurants in Washington, D.C. and major global cities, staying at luxury spots like the Ritz-Carlton in Paris. It’s not really a shock when you consider his salary during those peak years was anywhere between $60,000 and $120 $0.00 per month.

Then came the crash. He started racking up debt everywhere, and he just wasn't paying it back.

What’s your take on him—both as a person and as this whole strange phenomenon?

Man, you have no idea how many stalkers are out there—your guy is practically a saint... 🤣
Carl Rivera43 said:Does all this aggressive, finger-pointing energy surrounding cases that haven't even been proven yet signal something deeper about our society and the other nations in our neck of the woods?

What are the odds that some of these "self-righteous commenters"—the ones trying to play judge and jury from their keyboards—will actually follow through on those impulses? Is this recent spike in online hostility something unique to the US and its neighbors, or is it just as bad in wealthier parts of Europe too?

It just shows you how primitive a certain segment of the population can be—and honestly, maybe they get exactly what they deserve...

You were right to put "righteous commentators" in quotes. Their outbursts have zero to do with an actual sense of justice. It's more about venting personal frustrations and pent-up rage; these articles just serve as a convenient pressure valve for them. If they really cared about justice, they’d react differently...

But, if the facts are out there and the system fails anyway—well, that's a different story entirely. In that case, in my opinion, the insults, the swearing, and even calls for vigilante justice become justifiable...

As it stands now, it's easy to stir up a primitive crowd...

So, what’s the consensus on how healthy (or unhealthy) vaping actually is?

I think I might actually make the switch. Cigarettes are already starting to get on my nerves. 🙄

Haha, what verdict... let's just say it's warming my heart. 😁

I wouldn't complain about losing either the beer or my head in that situation...

Just give me a large macchiato and something sweet.
Hey waiter—find me a corner table or maybe just a spot at the bar near you... I’m really not in the mood to deal with anyone today. 😳

Not even if a charmingly flirtatious guy like me shows up?

Well, my family is split right down the middle... half of them are from Washington, D.C. or up in Appalachia, and the other half are from the South—mostly Mostar and Western Herzegovina.
