Any good organic shops nearby? in Health ·
Why didn't you just ask them right then and there? 😕

I honestly suspect it would all boil down to whether everything was organic—you know, strictly pesticide-free and all that sort of thing.

I’m fairly certain you can't even set an avatar until you hit the fifty-post milestone—and once you do, I assume they let you swap it out more frequently. Looking at your stats, I see you're sitting at 41 right now.
That’s exactly how it played out for me, too!
Oh, and one more thing—definitely watch those image dimensions so it doesn't look wonky.
Anyway, just jump into a few threads, knock out those last few replies, and you'll have that avatar up in no time.

Tanning beds: how risky are they really? in Health ·
All I can tell you is that after my skin check at the Mayo Clinic, the doctor was very firm about the rules—I'm strictly forbidden from using tanning beds, period! They also told me to wait until after 4:00 PM before heading out into the sun, and even then, I have to be slathered in SPF. Apparently, that advice applies to anyone dealing with moles, too. And honestly—well, if that’s the case—one could certainly draw a few conclusions from that!
Tinchi said:I just skimmed through the article—as far as I can tell, nobody is actually claiming you shouldn't eat frequently, but rather that we should steer clear of unhealthy carbs and excessive saturated fats... which is already my plan anyway! Or did I miss something during my quick read? I really don't want to be mistaken here 😁

Look, I’m not trying to play doctor or dictate what's "good" or "bad" for the body, but the whole topic just made me think of that specific piece! 🙂

Tinchi, here is the quote for you:
Actually, Zammit suggests something else as well—that we should eat less often—specifically by leaving four to five hours between meals and cutting out snacking entirely. He believes our livers are perfectly capable of handling more spaced-out eating patterns. In his view, having two solid meals a day is much better than constant grazing.

Now, what I'm genuinely curious about—and if there's an answer out there, I'm sure there is—is why on earth is the standard diet for diabetics designed around small, frequent meals instead?

😕
Actually, I was just reading this fascinating article in a scientific journal recently about something called syndrome X. According to that specific theory—it’s quite intriguing!—eating frequent, small meals might actually be doing more harm than good because of the constant presence of insulin in our system.

How to perform a proper breast self-exam? in Women's Health ·
Oh my goodness, I’ve just finished reading everything and I am honestly feeling a bit shaken up! My grandmother passed away from breast cancer, and back when I saw a private gynecologist once, he mentioned there was a high risk—but he didn't actually perform an exam. He didn't even tell me that I should be doing self-exams! 😕 In fact, out of all five doctors I’ve seen so far, not a single one has actually examined me!😢

I am making it a point to get checked tomorrow—I even watched that video. My sister is asleep right now, but I'm going to make sure she gets checked too! And I’ll definitely be insisting that my own OBGYN gives me a proper exam.

Dea, I’ll be thinking of you—just stay brave!🙂
Daily water intake: Let's discuss in Health ·
So, I once had this bright idea to start chugging way more water—you know, because everyone keeps saying it’s some kind of magic elixir for your skin—and let me tell you, I spent basically my entire existence sprinting to the restroom. Honestly? It was a one-time experiment, folks! No thank you! I have absolutely zero interest in turning my life into a full-time career in the hydration and urine industry 24/7!
OB/GYN Discussion Thread in Women's Health ·
So, I went to see a gynecologist at the student health clinic in downtown Chicago for the very first time—just this older gentleman, and honestly, he was absolutely wonderful! But then, I tried switching over to the socialized healthcare option, and let me tell you, I am *never* doing that again. I ended up dealing with a yeast infection three separate times, and according to them, it wasn't exactly an "emergency"—they told me I’d have to wait about two weeks for an appointment! Two weeks?! I simply cannot imagine enduring that kind of discomfort for that long... so, naturally, I just gave up and headed straight to a private practitioner every single time! 😠
Once, I saw Dr. Podobnik—his office is right over on West Madison near the old rail yards—and another time I visited Dr. Jelekovic over on West Roosevelt. Both of them were seriously fantastic! The first one is such a jovial guy; he explains everything and shows you what's going on so clearly, whereas Jelekovic is just incredibly calm and laid-back. They are both total gems! 🙂
But then... there was this one time. I went to a female specialist for an exam—private practice, too—and oh my goodness, I wouldn't wish that experience on my worst enemy. This woman, who apparently specializes in pediatric exams or something, treated me in a way I will never, ever forget. She was grabbing my arm like I was some sort of farm animal! It was excruciatingly painful, and while I'm lying there in agony, she’s just shouting at me to "relax" while she keeps digging away! 🙂I call her "The Violator," though her actual name is Dr. Vignjevic—she has a practice near Union Station. I truly feel bad for leaving such a negative review, I really do, but she earned it... especially since I found out from another girl that she’s done the exact same thing to someone else! 🙂
