With iron levels like that and relatively high ferritin (if you're female, it's borderline if you're male), you really need to look at the MCV. If those values are elevated, testing for B12 should be the next step. I'd suspect megaloblastic anemia. Are you taking anything like Controloc or Nexium, Grandma?
Sarah Rodriguez68 said:I would also appreciate some insight regarding my husband's blood work. He’s 35 and a regular blood donor, so he was checking his ferritin levels, which tend to run low.
He had the exact same panel done as I did, just without the urinalysis.
I'll list only the values that fall outside the standard reference range.

ALP 54 (60-142)
Alpha-amylase 150 (23-91)
iron 10 (11-32)
UIBC 55 (25-54)
ferritin 14 (20-300)

Given these results, is he cleared to donate blood? (I assume not.) Also, what might that elevated alpha-amylase indicate, and should he pursue further testing?

Thanks!

Low serum iron paired with low ferritin suggests poor iron absorption. Combined with the elevated alpha-amylase...

(High amylase concentrations in the serum or urine can signal inflammation in the pancreas or various parts of the digestive tract—like the esophagus, stomach, duodenum, or small intestine)
...it could point toward hypochlorhydria.

I can't be pregnant because we use condoms every single time, and as far as I know, they haven't failed us once. What else could it be? Could it be a cyst?😲

What goes through your head during sex? If things get particularly intense or kinky, it can actually delay your cycle. Give us the details.😕
Raymond Booth12 said:This is becoming a massive headache... here’s the situation... my girlfriend is dealing with some white discharge—which I'm sure you guessed from the title—but the real issue is that I love oral, and right now, it’s completely off the table because of the odor and just how unpleasant it feels... I can manage a little something before penetration while everything is still tucked away 😁, but that basically limits me to just the clitoris. Since I like to be thorough, it’s honestly driving me up the wall—not to mention the fact that any attempt at oral after penetration, once things have shifted, is just absolutely soul-crushing. She went to see her gynecologist, but she’s stuck on a waiting list for a month, and who knows how much longer it might take to actually get this sorted out... so, I’m asking the lovely ladies who have dealt with this or are currently going through it: how are you handling this? Is there any kind of alternative—maybe certain teas or something similar—that could help? Because if the doctor doesn't fix this soon, I might actually lose my mind. 🙏

We’re talking about Trichomonas vaginalis here.

That one sentence alone forces me to reconsider my entire stance on the female gender.
