Arthur Ramirez20 said:I was wondering if it’s actually possible to build a football league in Excel? You know, with all the scores and a live standings table? If so, how does one even go about doing that...

Of course it's possible. ☕
Kyle Johnson2 said:You can solve this by putting a formula directly in the cell to do the heavy lifting.

- Or by using comments that hover over the cell.
- Or via a Validation message that pops up when the cell is selected.

True... except the formula is visible right when you hover over F19. My takeaway—and correct me if I'm wrong 😍—is that he wants to see both the formula and the result in F19 at all times. Personally, I don't see the point, but you've certainly given him the option.
Larry Booth said:Hey guys,

I have a cell (G19) where I calculated an "Average" (for example, =AVERAGE(G12:G17)).
Now my Activecell F19. I need to divide an integer (200) by that cell (G19) and save it in F19 such that the formula itself remains visible in cell F19. I might have overcomplicated things; hopefully you follow me. I used formula R1C1.

Are you certain you actually want the display instead of the result of the formula in cell F19? 😕

edit: your title says multiply 😕

which doesn't match if you wanted F19=200/G19.😕

Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix this? If you need more details, just ask...

Thanks a lot!

In the Query, select the criteria you want to filter by—in your case, the return date.

After sorting, I just triggered the numbering command.. it runs all the way to the end of the document..
Since the print area is flexible... any numbers falling outside that range won't show up on the printout..

Why not just bake that numbering command directly into your existing macro? That way you don't have to trigger it "manually" every single time.

It’s possible... if he rewrites it. 😉

Instead of that massive block of code you wrote, why not try this for autofilling serial numbers (A1:A20)?

Sub rednibroj()
range("A1") = "1"
select range("A2")
ActiveCell.FormulaR1C1 = "=IF(R[-1]C="""","""",R[-1]C+1)"
select range("A2")
select Selection AutoFill Destination := range("A2:A20") Type := xlFillDefault range
select range("A2:A20")
select end Sub

To trigger it, just use a command button and assign this code to it.

Try uninstalling Office and then running a fresh installation. Use a custom install this time and just uncheck everything except what you actually need—definitely skip InfoPath. I ran into a similar mess a while back, and that fixed it right up.

If you have the choice, though, I’d honestly recommend sticking with 2007 or Office 2010.
Benjamin Wilson7 said:The numbers are barely visible in the cell. While you're busy entering the data... When I hit Enter to leave the cell, everything looks fine—the numbers show up in black like they should.
So, while I’m actively typing into cells A2 through A6, the numbers show up in a different color. But once I finish? They turn black. Why is that happening?

So, I’ve got a problem. The numbers in cells A2 through A6 aren't looking the same as everything from A7 downwards. In that first little stretch, they’re highlighted, but from A7 on, they’re just standard black. What gives?

I can see the color discrepancy that's bothering me.

You’ve got conditional formatting applied to those cells ($A$2:$A$6), and that's exactly where you're running into trouble.
Clear out that formatting and you'll actually have a usable entry.

Does the keyboard actually respond when you hit a key during that "press any key to boot from CD or DVD..." prompt? I mean, does the keyboard even register anything while those little dots are flashing on the screen? ...

John Johnson16 said:No, I'm running Windows XP SP2, I just want to install Windows 7..

Format your C: drive—just make sure you back up your data first, maybe move it to another partition—then set your BIOS to boot from the CD and kick off the Windows 7 installation.

You can format during the Windows 7 setup process however you see fit, but seriously, save your files from C: first.

I already told you in a DM that a username like that exists. If your next post fails to meet every single requirement listed in the opening post of this thread, you'll get a strike for violating subforum rules. Consider this your warning.

I know, there is a Leo.

Samuel Smith4 said:Hey everyone!
I just installed the 32-bit version of Windows 7 on an old laptop, and things are already going sideways.
I used a pirated version (Extreme Edition R1 by Amit—some kind of modded build), and while the installation and activation went smoothly enough, I can't hit my old resolution from the Windows XP days. It was 1280x800, but now the max it offers is 1024x768. On top of that, the screen looks dim and blurry, and everything feels sluggish, almost as if the drivers aren't even there or the system isn't recognizing my GPU. I tried running the graphics drivers meant for Windows XP (integrated Radeon Xpress 1100), but I just get an error immediately. I assumed Windows 7 wouldn't need manual driver installs or DirectX since 9.0c is built-in, but clearly, something is broken. Any advice or tips?

How much RAM does that old laptop actually have?

I don't think it's a Windows 7 issue.

The heatsink? 🤷

Jack Watson18 said:When I want to install Windows 7, do I need to manually format the C: partition, or will the system handle that itself? Also, once I pop the DVD into the drive, will the installation start automatically, or do I need to mess with the BIOS settings to boot from it?

If you want to format C: (which you should)

Back up all your important files to another partition, an external hard drive, a burned DVD, or a thumb drive...

Pop in the Windows 7 disc and use the built-in formatting option during the setup process. Format C:, then finish the installation.

(If the installer doesn't kick in, jump into the BIOS and set the DVD drive as the primary boot device. Once you're done installing, remember to switch the boot priority back to the hard drive.)

It doesn't get any simpler than that.
