Shhh, keep it down! Don't say it out loud. It's like that thing in Harry Potter—you know, "He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named."

I’ve spent so many great hours at house parties, hanging out on beaches, or just chilling on park benches singing those old classics that they’re some of my absolute favorite memories. When you have your own crew, you just instinctively know which songs are total buzzkills and which ones get everyone hyped. We still do that today—honestly, I don't care if people think it's a bit tacky.

It’s all in their eyes—that "why him and not my garage band?" look—as he orders a beer. The bartender treats him like total trash, serving up a watered-down nothingness after making him wait forever. Some tall guy casually blows smoke right in his face, then drops his cigarette and crushes it underfoot, basically signaling how he feels about the celebrity. Everyone starts shouting over the music just to drown out the set, and the second he moves to a different corner, the sound tech tweaks the levels to make everything sound even worse. Feeling totally unwelcome, he tries to bolt toward the restroom, but really he’s just trying to hit the exit. He runs straight into a wall of indie snobs who won't budge, staring him down with pure disdain. "Sellout," echoes in his head, even though nobody actually said it out loud. Catching a split second of distraction, he slips under someone's elbow and lunges through the doors, feeling those judgmental stares burning holes in his back. Out in front of the club, distracted and defeated, he steps right into a muddy puddle and then straight into dog crap. Never again, he tells himself. Never again...

1. A fast food joint in Des Moines - stays open until 1 AM, and honestly, everything we tried there was top-tier. If I were being mean, I’d say: it was the only thing I actually liked in Des Moines. But hey, I said it. So, I guess I'm being mean. 😈
2. That hidden gem on Rhode Island, tucked away in a backyard with zero signage. Between the interesting story about local tin music history and the sticker shock (I think the cheeseburger was like $7 or $8), we were pretty annoyed until we finally got our hands on it. Once we tasted it: man, it was huge and delicious... I actually felt bad for not leaving the guy a bigger tip since I paid before eating.
3. A spicy kebab with all the fixings in the Suburban area at Barbary's (local pride, you know how it is). A total classic.
The worst:
1. Rubelj in Bielefeld 🙂
Bielefeld is a great city and I had a blast there, but every single place they took us to eat was criminally bad. I’ll have to head back there sometime just for a redo.
