I heard that too, and it actually sounded pretty interesting...
What’s the rest of the material looking like? Think it could actually make it to the big leagues?

Here’s a quick list of everything I did yesterday instead of actually finishing those seven or eight cards I promised to turn in the day before last.

1. Had a beer at home.
2. Decided it was actually pretty good and headed down to the local pub.
3. Ended up having four more there.
4. Crawled back home and passed out...

That’s not exactly a "natural death" anyway—which is kind of a ridiculous term unless we're talking about someone hitting 100—it’s just a heart attack, clogged arteries, or whatever else gets you...

I feel bad even mentioning my own ramblings on the blog, but everything MissL was saying about being back on the road really hit home for me. I actually posted some pretty similar thoughts right here a while back...

, specifically that post about transistor blues...

: *sipping a beer and pretending they didn't just say that*:

I also know this guy who hangs out at a local dive bar—he’s probably the only person in all of Chicago who has every single type of stylus and needle you could want, but man, he charges an arm and a leg...

David Sullivan4 said:you're overthinking everything. honestly, a square foot in Chicago is five times more expensive than in some small town in the Midwest for no real reason...

There’s actually one big reason: supply and demand. It's pretty simple—you can pay those prices in Chicago because that's where the demand is. It's just how it works, kind of like how a square foot in New York City is a thousand times pricier than in Kuala Lumpur, for example.

Even though it doesn't have much to do with CDs—though there are some parallels—as long as they see a profit in pushing these inflated prices, they (THEY LIVE) are going to keep doing it....

If new releases were, say, 10 bucks, while old pressings sat at 5 or 7, I wouldn't even bother with all this stress... besides, I'm just asking out of curiosity...

Fine, let them think what they want—to each their own, I guess. I even put some guardrails up around that topic, and honestly, a few decent explanations actually surfaced... but man, it’s still the scam of the century. $33 So... what's a fair price for that?

I'm not really talking about the concept itself so much as the actual distraction.

Whatever you say, man. $16I actually picked up a copy for my own music department and even talked some other libraries into grabbing one. Honestly, I might’ve done you a disservice there—now the crowds are going to be checking it out and wearing it out. But hey, I'll let you know how the lending goes.😁

Jose Chase2 said:Regarding Sean Penn—he’s great if he’s working with a director who can actually keep him in check. Otherwise, he just starts overacting too much. ☕

Plus, Hitchcock said actors are basically just cattle a long time ago, so that pretty much applies to any actor with a massive ego. It’s all about knowing how to handle them to get the best out of them.

As for Chris Penn, if he hadn't been overweight, he probably wouldn't have even ended up acting...

Fair point, my bad. You can't actually edit the title once it's live. Man, Sean Penn. Chris Penn It’s like having a name that actually carries weight... everyone wants to be Sean Penn's brother. Honestly, maybe not even anymore, but up until yesterday, for sure.

He was actually incredible in Short Cuts...

So, Christopher Penn—most people know him as Eddie Nice Guy from Reservoir Dogs—was found dead at his home in LA. No word yet on what happened.

Just another life cut short way too early. He wasn't quite a superstar, but he was a solid actor...

Not to brag or anything, but I've been into them since I was 15, back when I picked up that Greatest Hits cassette that I still have sitting around... I won't even tell you how long ago that was because I don't want to scare you all off with my age. Anyway, here I am, spinning that same old tape I bought over twenty years ago 😬

I'm a sucker for anything with cheese and cream, honestly... but I've gotta stick to this low-cholesterol diet, so I ended up just having some chicken😬

Actually, I disagree—adding cream just ruins the flavor of a good cheese.😬

Carol Jackson45 said:Man, I’m telling you, nothing beats it. For me, there's just nothing like that sun and the ocean breeze. 😛

It’s basically a given—thousands of wealthy retirees from the European Union (as the late Šuvar would say) are about to swoop in and buy up all the prime real estate along the coast while we're left struggling to make ends meet.😠

Carol Jackson45 said:My post wasn't meant to be funny, just grumpy because I had to drag myself out of bed at 8 AM for work—on a damn Saturday, no less—and it’s cloudy too (which, yeah, you noticed). People who think they're "spontaneous" probably see themselves that way compared to, I don't know, Germans; meanwhile, they view us as stubborn primitives who yell way too much.

But honestly, you're wrong if you think that perspective applies just to me. It's like how all my buddies from San Francisco talk; New Yorkers say we're way too quiet. Then again, to a New Yorker, people from the South sound like we're constantly screaming. These generalizations come from a broad cultural lens, not just a personal one.

?

As for your first point, it's actually the opposite... Germans are total sweethearts to Austrians. If there's a prototype for the "German" we imagine, it's really just an Austrian.😬

And your second point is spot on. I remember a buddy telling me about when he first hung out in Washington, D.C. with a friend from San Francisco. They walked past a flower market, and later his buddy asked him, "Was there a police raid happening just now?" "Why?" "Everyone was being so quiet." I guess the guy just wasn't used to people actually talking *to* their companions at a table instead of shouting to the whole room.😁

One funny truth to leave you with regarding where we come from... I stumbled upon this realization in a book recently (anywhere from here to Lepant).

Americans are basically just Poles who turned out really well.😁

Carol Jackson45 said:I always figured smart people would get that generalizations aren't about one specific person—they're just looking at the average, which makes them pretty much facts. 😛 The whole point is just that you're constantly having to audit them. 😉

People from the countryside always seem to have the worst wine, don't they? 😁

Look, a lot of what you're saying here just doesn't hold water—it feels like it's mostly based on your own assumptions. It really all comes down to perspective. For example, if someone called my last post funny, I’d just say, "Fine, then I guess I don't have a sense of humor." But I won't. Honestly, I'm too busy dodging that dark cloud hanging over your smiley face.😬 People from the countryside make terrible wine, which explains why their faces are always so red.

Carol Jackson45 said:You're totally wrong😬

Moving on.

Things I can't stand about people from New York City:
1. being cold
2. zero sense of humor
3. being super touchy
4. that local pride

Other things I hate about people from Miami:
1. being lazy
2. being stubborn
3. hating anything new
4. that local pride

And more stuff I hate about my college:
1. pure snobbery
2. acting big without any substance
3. just plain arrogance

Just having a bad day today.

Man, I thought those silly old cliches like "the guy from the Midwest has rosy cheeks, while the guy from Cali wears a gold chain" were considered harmless fun for everyone...😬
