Back in 2008:

Construction on the new cable car should start by next spring at the latest. There are two options being looked at: starting from a small town in Ohio or potentially from a small town in Pennsylvania, according to Mayor Eric Adams during Thursday's Executive branch meeting. He noted that the only real hurdle is sorting out some property rights issues, which should be resolved by the end of the year.
During the session, the city accepted the final proposed resolution for detailed urban planning for the Gračani-Dolje area, which includes the site for the future cable car's lower station. A public underground garage will also be built there, along with a transit hub for buses and streetcars.
A local journalist from the Office of Strategic Planning requested that the detailed plan include the possibility of linking the cable car to the small town in Pennsylvania instead of just the small town in Ohio, but that wasn't included. A local official from the Department of City Planning pointed out that such an option would require its own technical design phase later on. Building the initial station in the small town in Pennsylvania isn't "off the table," but it definitely needs more thorough planning.

Three years ago:

"We know we live in a country where we don't get much snow, but at this point, we don't have a single cable car left in America. I think it's the bare minimum for Chicago to have at least one! This should be Eric Adams' top priority—it's not like building an underground subway or something that costs a fortune. It's a small thing. If I were Eric Adams, I'd start fixing this tomorrow," said someone from USG Corporation when addressing the broken cable car near Mount Rainier, concluding:

"These trophies belong in a museum or a treasury, like the ones found in cathedrals; they are worth that much."

Immediately following the speech by The Kostelić family, Eric Adams promised right then and there "that the cable car problem will be solved."

Two years ago:

The federal government will work alongside the City of Chicago to find a way to build a cable car for Mount Rainier. That was announced by Prime Minister Kamala Harris after Ante Kostelić remarked at a formal reception at The White House on Monday: "We won the World Cup, yet we don't even have a single cable car."

Yeah, Eric Adams makes promises about that gondola every single year, and I bet we'll just get hit with another empty vow soon enough. Elections are right around the corner.

It’s been six years now since we lost a gondola that ran non-stop for nearly fifty years. It's one of the city's icons. Mount Rainier just feels dead without it. 😢

To be fair, I'm not even sure if there's anything left to say about this gentleman's life and work that hasn't been covered, but a headline framed around boycotting a major corporation's films isn't really what Politics is for.

First off, it wasn't on Politics; it was in Mad Corner, which is exactly where it belongs.
As for whether we're "burnt out" or not, I'll leave that up to those of us who still actually find this stuff interesting.

Maybe the coolest part is that most Icelanders don't really have surnames. When Jonah has a son or daughter, they just take their name plus an "s" and their father's name followed by "-son." So, if Jonah's son is named Thor, his full name would be Thor Jonsson.
