The topic is Joško Vlašić vs Ante Kostelić. In my first two posts, I said what I thought (in the first, I asked if Marinovic Blankin was the coach) and I went after the HOO, not the Mediterraneans. If you read my posts on other threads about Blanka, Ivanisevic, Balica, or any Mediterranean athlete, maybe you'll realize that my understanding of sports and elite athletes has absolutely nothing to do with geography. Unlike you guys, who apparently think Ivica is just some average skier.

Yeah, Kostelica and Fak were awarded monthly stipends following their performance at the Vancouver Olympics, per the decision from the Vijec HOO. This didn't exist before those games.
Are you going to complain when Blanka gets a stipend after her success in New York City?

In my opinion, skiing is at a much higher and more demanding evolutionary and civilizational level than high jump, which makes being a ski coach way harder.
By that logic, gips is above Vlašić, though I honestly think gips's coaching knowledge in skiing is pretty questionable, especially when you look at all the injuries Ivica and Janica sustained. Janica's career was unfortunately too short, though there's no denying she won everything while she was active.

I get the feeling that gips pushed Blanka so hard that she ended up dealing with an Achilles rupture and a herniated disc. He's a total fanatic who sometimes fails to realize that poorly programmed training leads directly to serious injury.

Then again, who knows... if gips were training Blanka, maybe she would have cleared 2.10m a long time ago.

Besides, when Blanka steps onto the track, she performs maybe five sets of 50 seconds each. Nadal plays five sets of 50 minutes. It's a tiny difference. 😁
And if we consider that Blanka does those 5x50 second bursts about 20 times a year, while he plays how many matches annually? 🤔

That’s why any comparison between different sports just doesn't make sense.
Plus, we're actually debating who the best COACH is, not the best athlete. If I gathered some kids from my apartment building and turned them into world champions in table tennis or curling within a single year, I'm the one who deserves the award for that year, not Vlašić (meaning Marinović), who has had long-term success with her athlete.
