Does anyone know where I can pick up some courier bags in NYC?

They look like this:
Couldn't find a single thread dedicated to this topic...

So, I'm looking for high-quality ethno bands from around the globe. I won't limit myself strictly to folk, though—recommendations for rock bands that don't sing in English are more than welcome. I suspect there are plenty of groups out there, much like the classic American garage bands, that remain largely undiscovered despite being worth a listen.

To kick things off:

The Chieftains, an ethno-rock outfit from the Czech Republic with cult status. Formed in the late eighties, they have quite a discography, but their standout work is the album "Parade." It was a collaboration with the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra and produced by Jaz Coleman from Killing Joke (you could say 😁).
Coleman clearly put in the work; he created what can only be described as a masterpiece.
Here are a few reviews from Amer on Amazon.com just so you know I'm not just talking nonsense. 😁
At the Grammy Awards, The Chieftains took home three "Angels" in 2001, winning for Best Band, Best Album (Parade), and the title track.

First up from that album, Little Sun:

The Chieftains - Koníčky. You can actually see Coleman at the beginning, wielding a baton to direct the orchestra 😁 just like on the Parade album.

Did anyone else catch this supposed 'historical' spectacle besides me? 🙂 It was released earlier this year...

Official trailer
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D6VCcJe9gyE
The narrator in the trailer says: "In Russia, he was considered evil, yet in the East, he was worshipped as a God. Who was he?"

Essentially, we're looking at a Russian production by director Sergej Badrov. The plot follows the early life of Genghis Khan until he unified all the Mongol tribes and began ravaging the world. I put 'historical' in quotes because Sergej decided to turn about 80% of the film into pure fiction—it didn't take long for the Mongols to take offense at that choice. 😁

Plus:
- A Russian film, so the subject matter fits perfectly.
- High production value (comparable to Hollywood standards).
- Filmed in nearly authentic locations (Inner Mongolia in China).

Minus:
- The fight sequences are too brief.
- 80% of the movie is fictionalized.
- The occasional odd Russian interpretation of scenes and twists might not suit everyone's taste. 😁

Ultimately, if you view it as decent entertainment to kill some time, it’s quite good. If you watch it expecting historical accuracy, you'll leave disappointed. The combat is expertly choreographed, truly impressive, but unfortunately too short. Despite being mostly fiction, I personally enjoyed it and would recommend giving it a watch.

Listening to the radio again... the musicianship is top-tier. I'm genuinely annoyed I missed the concert. 🙂
Windows Vista vs. XP in Software ·

roughly 600MB of RAM just to function properly

That’s what Microsoft claims 🙂 though I'm typing this from Vista beta 2... checking my Task Manager now... Vista is sitting at 750MB of my 1024MB while idling. Better start shopping for those 2GB sticks, folks!! 😁

The 'Add Folder' button is located in the bottom right corner 🙂

File -> Settings... -> Sharing -> Add folder

Once you select the folders you intend to share, allow a moment for the indexing process to complete the file list.

The software operates on a 'fair use' model; if you want to download from others, you have to contribute something yourself. In my view, that makes this program superior to the rest.

Have you connected to a hub yet? 🙂That's step one. But before you try that, make sure you've shared your music directory. You need to ensure your total shared content exceeds whatever the minimum requirement is for entry.

For instance, if a hub requires 1 GB, you’ll need to share more than that; otherwise, you won't be able to get in.
Best software for merging VOB files? in Software ·
I have two VOB files from a documentary I filmed, and I need to merge them into a single file. Does anyone know of a reliable program for this? 🙂
The emphasis here is on quality. I have cycled through five or six different programs already—including a BenQ converter that absolutely destroys the image quality, and a Nokia multimedia tool that turns every color in the video into some weird blue tint. Others manage to convert the video but leave me with zero audio.😕

So, please, suggest a 3GP converter that actually functions as advertised. I am officially out of ideas after downloading half a dozen failures...

Braveheart

The soundtrack is top-tier.
Red Line by Hans Zimmer is also excellent.
The new FF album leaked early.

Just finished listening. First impression: it’s solid. 👍 I'm particularly drawn to 'this Boy'.

Thoughts? (assuming you've managed to get your hands on it) 😁

suggestion: 2003 The Christmas album, to me, the album is a masterpiece, pure perfection🙏 🙏 🙏 the way the flute player shreds is just incredible...

If I had a $2,500 Hi-Fi system, listening to this would be a complete experience😁
