Best antivirus software recommendations?

I need some help here...
I'm on the hunt for a truly top-tier antivirus solution, something capable of blocking threats before they get in and actually cleaning up the mess once a virus decides to make itself at home on my system.
Does anyone have any solid recommendations for me...?!

Most of those "famous" viruses? They catch them easily enough. Plus, they're constantly pushing updates...

Honestly, efficiency isn't even going to be a factor here since we're talking about a difference of maybe 0.5% at most. In my opinion, you should really just focus on which one feels more intuitive and user-friendly...

BTW, I don't even bother with antivirus because I actually know what I'm doing, plus I don't use IE—I use Netscape...
