My main struggle right now is just locating a decent gym, as I really need something located over near the East Side. I caught wind of a studio somewhere over on Subic Avenue, but my searches online haven't turned up anything concrete. In all likelihood, I’ll probably just head over to placidbison20's place and join that dark legion of his. That said, if anyone else happens to know of a solid Aikido club around here with instructors who actually know their business, please let me know. Cheers!

Omega training hall—where you can train Dennis Survival Jiu Jitsu (basically Hebrew Hisardut)—is located at 55 Subic Street, right across from that lot over by the old Gorica factory. It’s in the same building as the Crazy Horse nightclub. Classes run from 8 PM to 10 PM. Just show up, watch a session, and ask around for the specifics. I’ve been training DSJJ for a year now. If you’re looking for actual, real-world self-defense and don't mind brutal, disciplined sessions, I'd recommend it. It’s a mix of full-contact Judo, Jiu Jitsu, Kyokushin Karate, and wrestling for when you're unarmed, eventually moving into weapon defense too. Hit me up if you have questions. I'll try to help.
P.S. You won't find their website anywhere. The firm rebranded from Barun to Omega, but they never bothered updating the URL, so it’s still stuck under the old name. Check out this site: www.dsr-barun.usIf you want the lowdown on DSJJ, just head over to the official Israeli site. It’s all there. [Link: www.geocities.com/hanoverd]
And on the page: www.geocities.com/hanoverd/revue.htmlCheck out these shots of the US reps from DSJJ and our instructors. Tubic’s on day 7 now, and Anic is hitting day 6. Ignore the "day 3" caption under the photos—site hasn't been updated in forever.

Real talk, lately I’ve been leaning way more toward full-contact sports than technical stuff—mostly because of some people in my real life and a few guys on this forum. Less BS, less "he said, she said." But whatever you pick, just remember one thing:

With Aikido, you might find a nice little hobby or a social circle to find your inner peace, but you won't find what you listed, specifically: "any actual chance of defending yourself in a fight."......

I’ve got much stronger opinions on Ninjutsu. As for Wing Chun, I don't know enough to weigh in, so I'll shut up about it.👍

First thing he did after getting out of the hospital was hop on the forum to give you all the update (at like 3:30 AM)🤣 . That's just how he rolls🤣
What a legend🙏 🤣 🤣

Man, you're too much! If someone actually gave you a taste of your own medicine, you'd probably find it hilarious!
Your lack of seriousness just shows you've never dealt with anything real in your life. You clearly don't get what friendship or trust means, which is pretty pathetic...
gladiator went through something ugly and uncomfortable and decided to share it with us because he actually trusts us. I'd feel like the biggest loser on the planet if I didn't respect that trust and show some empathy, especially since I think gladiator (even though we don't hang out IRL) is a decent, respectful guy who hasn't insulted anyone. He doesn't deserve your crap.
In situations like this, if you don't have anything smart to add, shut up. At the very least, stop insulting gladiator or the rest of us.

GLADIATOR, hey, you made it through. That's the only thing that matters. Hang in there.
BJJ: Mat vs. Street in Martial Arts & Combat Sports ·
Biggest difference between the ring and the street? Rules. In the UFC, you’ve got them. On the street, you don't. Plus, in a sport, you aren't really hitting to kill or finishing a technique to the absolute limit—unless it's some crazy full-contact madness. On the street, you go all out before they can get to you. There’s no mercy there. A lot of the stuff we drill in training is basically useless in a real scrap, but hey, it helps you master the moves that actually matter. Honestly, you shouldn't be trying fancy combos on the street anyway; just use what you need to end the fight quickly.

I heard there's a new combat sports facility over on 5th Avenue..??

Anyway... any recommendations? Looking for good people and killer workouts. 🙂

Over on 5th, there's "DSR Barun." They do fitness, boxing, and survival Jiu-Jitsu. You can still sign up for boxing, but Jiu-Jitsu is totally packed—there are only two legit instructors for that style in the whole country, so the classes filled up instantly.
