You can't just throw in some tenth random card now and claim it's somehow superior. 1. Take a closer look at the FPS numbers. You'll see the Radeon hd 5850 with SLI only manages one extra frame at 1280x1024, while the 6850 only gains a single frame at 2560x1600. 2. Here is the review for the EVGA Graphics Card in Crysis Warhead—which, by the way, is actually more powerful than the one you suggested I pick up [the 5850]. Compared to my results, there's a 10-15 fps difference, but since the 5850 is weaker, we're looking at a 15-20 fps gap. I do like what Ryan Hayes82 mentioned, but I think I'll stick with this Cyclone because it overclocks much better. Honestly, once both are overclocked, I suspect this one might even come out on top. Plus, it runs cooler and quieter, which is pretty important to me.😁

But in that second link, you’re comparing it to a 5830, which is a significantly weaker card than the 5850.🙂
Dammit, I didn't even notice that was a 5830. I can't seem to find a Guru3D review specifically for the 5850 twinfrzr 2. EDIT: Just go to the MSI website and compare the 5830 twinfrzr 2 against the 5850 twinfrzr 2. The 5830 is stronger...
Man, I'm picking up the MSI Cyclone 6850 from Rolling Stone (saw they offer shipping all over the US). Out of everything listed here, it’s easily the best one. Honestly, when I first laid eyes on it a month or two ago, it was love at first sight.😍
I’d go with Skela, though honestly, that Hawk model feels a bit overkill for me. 😁 If only shipping costs weren't such a nightmare, man... but instead, msi gtx460hawk - $493 or maybe hd6850 toxic - $460 Now I’m wondering, just how much better is the 460 actually performing in games (in some, or maybe not all?) and is it truly significant enough to justify dropping $33 more on it? I can't seem to find a single review that actually compares those two directly. p.s. I'm not talking about an overclocked card here. EDIT: Does anyone know if Rolling Stone ships out to Miami? If they do, I'll probably order the msi 6850 cyclone from them.
Go grab a different drive—either the Western Digital Blue or maybe even the Black version. Honestly, if you're looking at CPUs, the Intel Core i7-2600K or 965 models are much better suited for gaming.
I was actually just thinking about pulling the trigger on a build with that Cyclone card, but then I realized it’s out of stock 😢. So now I'm looking at the Toxic version instead. Apparently, the ASUS model has a slightly higher core clock—about 40MHz more—and better cooling too. I'm stuck in this loop: do I wait a bit longer for the Cyclone to show up so my cousin can snag it for me over in Europe? It would definitely be $200-$100 cheaper there. Or should I just bite the bullet and grab this Toxic one right now? 🙂

I have a used one, but it's already spoken for. If the guy doesn't get back to me by tomorrow or the day after, I might sell it to you (though everything is pretty much settled)... also, I can help you track down a $67 Fortron Bluestorm 2 400W . If my current deal falls through, pick up this http://www.ebay.com/itm/computer-cases-psu-listing
The reason they list such high wattage for that GPU is just corporate legal shielding. They want to protect themselves from lawsuits and nonsense, so they inflate those numbers... However, that card actually draws about 113W at full load. If the CPU pulls 65W and the hard drives take 10W, that’s only 200W total. Yet, they claim you need 450W. So, you don't "need" that much; what you actually need is a high-quality unit capable of delivering at least 250W whenever the system demands it. That's usually what the premium power supplies provide. The cheap ones? When you actually stress them, they pull a stunt like this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LTVEtr14FEA
Does anyone happen to know where I can pick up an MSI HD 6850 Cyclone? I need somewhere that actually ships out to a place like Miami, because unfortunately, Best Buy is completely out of stock right now.😢
Don't even think about picking up a Corsair unit; that CX series is absolute garbage. You’d be much better off grabbing a Seasonic 430W instead. As for the GPU, what kind of budget are you actually looking to drop on it?
Jonathan Reed50 said:I have an offer in Jerusalem for 71 miles or about $143 for this power supply. Where can I find something cheaper in America, or is this decent?
So, I'm looking into getting a new graphics card. Something that actually lasts, you know? I’m planning on dropping it into a brand-new rig I’ll probably be building this summer. Ideally, I was thinking maybe something with 1GB of GDDR5 memory. http://imageupload.org/?di=8129848651213 My power supply is sitting around 400W. Budget-wise, I want to stay under about one $500 more or less.
