Maria Morgan2 said:Can anyone give me the lowdown on the Budokai master, Dr. Emin Topic??? Like, is the guy even still kicking, and does he actually still run training sessions??? And what’s the deal with Budokai itself these days? I’m just asking because I’m curious, I guess, since I don't really see anyone around here posting about practicing that specific skill anymore.

He’s alive and still teaching. http://www.budokai.info/?lang=en

Not even sure if you guys are being serious or just trolling at this point... 🙂

I'm definitely not trying to be the center of attention here—just trying to spark some actual constructive debate... maybe...😬

hiddensailor14 said:Look, rustyangler02, just do us all a favor and actually read the whole article Robin Palmer3 linked before you weigh in... then tell me what you think. There’s a massive gap between this guy—who sees "pseudoskepticism" and atheism as some kind of existential threat🙄—and that total nutjob religious fanatic (check the link I dropped in the BV Humor thread) who thinks basically all martial arts and sports are just gateways to hell🤣... seriously...

Your comparison is honestly pretty basic and, frankly, childish.🙄 He doesn't even view pseudoskepticism as a threat—he sees it as an extreme opposite that's just as fanatic as any spiritualism or mysticism stuff.
Let's be real, you definitely fall into that "pseudoskeptic" category, and it's obvious that text just bruised your massive ego.🙂

hiddensailor14 said:🤷 Maybe it's just because most philosophy is way too complex for my tiny, flat cerebral cortex... I honestly have no clue what they're blathering about/scribbling down.

Real talk—I think philosophers are total hacks. Philosophy (and those "social sciences") aren't even real sciences in my book. It’s actually embarrassing to lump them in with actual natural and technical sciences—those are the only true sciences, while this stuff is just the leftover waste from human laziness.☕

Social sciences and basic life skills definitely aren't your strong suit—your posts make that pretty obvious. 😛 If you ask me, why do engineering schools even bother teaching things like ethics, communications, or psychology? They're all social subjects, yet you call them nothing but the byproduct of human idleness.🙄

Ontopic: Now that I've read the whole thing, I get the point. The guy is arguing that pseudo-skepticism is the polar opposite of spiritualism and mysticism. He's saying pseudo-skeptics aren't acting scientific at all because they don't actually use a research-based approach—they just negate things "in the name of science."
What part of that is so hard to grasp, hiddensailor14?😍

Most martial arts basically grew out of cultures where religion and spirituality were everywhere. This whole thing about fighting or MMA being some kind of atheist statement is BS—the Greeks literally thought gods were guiding their every move in the ring.🙄 Same goes for Muay Thai coming from Buddhist monks. Personally, I put hardcore skeptics and those New Age spiritual fanatics in the exact same trash bin... both sides are just blinded by extremes and totally missing the point.
I’m skeptical about spiritual stuff myself, but you can't just ignore certain findings in scientific circles. There's proof that prayer under specific circumstances can actually heal illnesses—and we aren't talking about a placebo effect here. Because of that, they're opening a center for spirituality in medicine over in Washington, D.C. A family friend of mine—one of the big-shot professors at a top medical school helping run this center—told me straight up that there are certain energies that affect people, even in martial arts (since I did karate for years). Now, if he's just a fanatic or full of crap, who knows what's actually legit...
Look, I don't buy into the whole spiritualism vibe, but I train traditional styles with the same mindset as modern ones—nobody's trying to convert me or anything. At the end of the day, it's a personal choice whether you want to believe the traditional interpretations or not.

Austin Baker86 said:Morbid, I'm thick, you've read me completely😢 🙄 😛

Seriously though, I want to know: how much breakage and what kind of injuries should I expect? My bones are pretty light, and I have one very cleanly healed multiple fracture of the femur from almost 15 years ago. Could that be an issue?

What do you do for a living, and for how long?

@ pacifizam - and here I am just waiting for someone to come along and tell me that BV isn't just a great way to intensely burn off energy, build conditioning, and improve motor gracefulness, but rather the union of Spirit and Body in Harmony with the Universe as we act as a Medium through which Divine Energy flows😁

🙂

😉

I'd suggest kickboxing. Given that old injury though—you definitely need to check with a doctor first.

hiddensailor14 said:Hold up—are you actually suggesting women make better fighters than men? (Just like how male stylists are better creators than female ones), or male chefs, drivers, surgeons...
😁

I was mostly talking about gender vibes in certain jobs from an aesthetic standpoint, not necessarily the practical side of things. I doubt any regular person wants to deal with some gross "fashionista" type... 🤮 Well, at least Bruno is alright. 🙂

bluehawk37 said:Question. I used to train in fencing and now I’m looking for something similar. I want a skill that’s fast and dynamic with plenty of blocking. Offense isn't my priority
compared to defense and counter-attacks. Something akin to what I know—like those Bourne fights. Any suggestions are welcome. Needs to be quick, high-energy, and heavy on blocks and movement.

Thanks

Wing Chun, Jeet Kune Do... Not exactly the Jack Bourne vibe, but fits everything else you mentioned.

Honestly, I feel like pro female fighters are basically on the same level as male fashion designers... just a thought.😁

Casey Booth4 said:Wait, didn't you mention you were training at Genbukan?
Perhaps you could enlighten me regarding Jiu-jitsu!
I am struggling to grasp the distinction between the Ninpo Taijutsu you practice and standard Jiu-jitsu.

Ninpo taijutsu—more about deep stances, bigger movements, flow...
Jiu-Jitsu—shorter stances, quicker strikes, blocks, more direct combat style.
A lot of techniques actually share the same foundation, though...

I'm aware that they teach it at the Genbukan, but I was wondering if anyone else besides them is offering that kind of training.

Doubt it...

Didn't read the rest...

It’s just modern American English. Just like how we have specific terms for stuff like "jet engine" or "automatic transmission," the word "IZJENDAČIVAČI" was basically cooked up in some academic lab...😛

Gerald Smith76 said:The new marketing looks slick—clearly put some work into it—but calling it a "new" system for "combat self-defense" is kinda hilarious. If it’s basically just the same stuff from the ISF, then what’s the point?
p.s. That clip where he slams the bike onto the attacker is gold. I wouldn't risk my Trek on some random idiot... 🙂

He probably wants to expand outside the US, so he figured he needed a more Google-friendly name to actually get hits.😉
Yeah, that bike slam was legendary.😍

You gotta give Krajacic credit where it's due—the guy is clearly putting in the work, even if he's just grinding for the sake of grinding... honestly, you have to respect the hustle. I haven't seen everything he's done, but from what I've caught, some of the stuff in the ISF feels a bit amateurish—like those triangle blocks they use during strikes. Some parts are alright though, pretty entertaining how theatrical he gets with those takedowns and slamming heads into the mat.😁

Nah, nothing new here—just Krajacic's FBI with a fresh coat of paint on the marketing...☕
