Yeah, I guess Hapkido turns a sword into one of the most complete martial arts out there.🙂
From what I gather, Hapkido actually has plenty of ground game—arm locks, throws, levers, chokes—you don't necessarily need BJJ for all that. It feels a bit silly to me... BJJ gets hyped up in MMA like there aren't other martial arts with similar techniques.
I'm curious if anyone from the Slough area would be interested in an MMA club, since there isn't one here right now. I heard from a buddy that a new gym might be opening up, run by some guys who have been training in Taekwondo, Hapkido, and boxing for years.
Just wondering if anyone nearby is actually looking into this, because I’d probably join too—would be nice not to be the only one showing up.🙄 ???
The approach I take is just training and avoiding those useless questions that clutter up your head... I guess you’ll find all the answers eventually, just through experience
One thing is for sure: hitting the heavy bag and actual sparring aren't the same thing at all...
What can I tackle on my own without calling in a repairman?
All my colors are looking completely washed out. The folks at Best Buy swore they were compatible, but after one successful black text print, it just gave up on me. I already tried reinstalling the drivers, but nothing. What should I try before I lose my mind and take an axe to this thing? 😠
Soaking them with some powder for maybe two days helps, then you just gotta beat the sweat out of them with your fists.
It’s also pretty important to dry everything thoroughly after training—your kimono, for instance.

I was wondering which clubs here in the States teach Poomsae (Taekwondo)?
Hey folks, I’ve been out on the water a few times lately. I know it's still spring, but the fish really should be biting by now. I even hit the local pond four times and didn't get a single strike... just caught some bluegill and sunfish. It’s getting pretty frustrating. Is anyone else dealing with this, or has the fish population just taken a hit overall?

I really want something that will build up my stamina and actually help me put on some muscle 😁 (for context, I’m pretty tall at about 6'2" and currently weigh a skinny 121 lbs 😢)
Thanks
Any combat sport should help with your conditioning and add some muscle mass. Later on, you can mix that with weight training at a gym and probably hit around 165-175 lbs. Maybe pick out two or three local gyms with different styles, check out their sessions, and see what feels right.
