Elizabeth Torres43 said:Maybe we could consider adding a sub-forum for Pop Music? It's getting pretty crowded with threads ranging from Beyoncé and Adele to Britney Spears and others. The same goes for the television section—the Unaired category is overflowing with discussions about those trendy foreign soap operas...

I guess that might not be a bad idea.☕

Finally got some tips on how to speed things up.👍
It sucks when I can't actually post anything; I guess the site loads enough to view stuff, but trying to write a post takes forever.😢
When I'm traveling abroad, my favorite thing to do is check out the forum and catch up on my subscribed threads. 😍
So, yeah, it's pretty hard not to stop by the forum every now and then. 😁

mistyhound94 said:So what kind of connection are you running in Vietnam? What are your actual speeds right now? 🤷

I'm using a 3G USB stick at the moment, and since I've got a 3G network, it's actually fine.
Maybe if things go wrong, I'm stuck with satellite internet that feels like dial-up.

From where I’m sitting, it feels like we’re all just collectively stuck with this mess, at least for the time being

That’s the thing, though. I’m actually writing this from Vietnam right now. My connection is decent most of the time, but sometimes it gets so slow that posting on this forum is basically impossible.
And what's the issue?

Why is this forum loading so slowly?
Sometimes my connection gets really laggy and I can't even get the site to open.
I guess there’s nothing that can be done about it?

Christian Taylor3 said:Just raw copy-pasting from Wikipedia—without adding a single thought or opinion in the intro—should be treated as spam (so, delete or lock it, obviously). This isn't a quality thread, or anything else for that matter. We had one user on IMDb who would start several of these a day; they don't anymore since they got banned from starting new threads.

So I guess this crowd does the same thing now. It never even crossed my mind.😂
It’s also kind of funny how people start a thread and then just vanish forever.😕

feraltrucker5 said:Yeah, not really. I guess you need a PhD in nuclear physics just to start a thread on this forum.

You don't need a PhD, but you definitely need time, which I don't have.
And honestly, why bother wasting time on an intro when people who don't listen will just jump in and flood the thread anyway?
So, I don't think starting a thread is that smart anymore.
Besides, the only thread I actually care about already exists, and that's basically the only reason I'm even here.
I just drop by the rest of this stuff out of boredom, and I only post when I actually have something useful or smart to say.
This was just my little attempt at making the forum look better.
But apparently even that's not good enough for some people, so maybe I should just shut up so I don't get chewed out again.😂

wiredangler5 said:I deleted comments like those when I first started this thread, so I'm with you there. If we want this discussion to actually be worth anything, people need to stick to constructive feedback, whether they're praising or complaining. That's just how it should be.

Agreed. My request was handled.☕

wiredangler5 said:Alright, thanks for the links. I get where you're coming from, I guess, but people who don't like his music have every right to say what they want. Not every single post is just a bunch of random emojis; some people actually take the time to explain why they aren't fans. You can't really deny anyone the right to share their thoughts, whether they're being positive or offering actual, explained criticism.

Some were fine, everyone has an opinion, but that Chuck Norris guy seriously shouldn't be complaining about anything, not even a few stupid emojis.
I just think it discourages people from starting new threads, which isn't easy or simple to do.

I guess I have a request to look into cleaning up the first few pages of threads in the Music subforum, and maybe elsewhere too.
Today I opened a couple of new threads that had great intros, only to find them filled with posts that were basically just pure garbage—just people posting insults and nonsense.
It seems fair to me that if a user actually puts in the effort to follow all the forum rules and write a decent opening, at least the first page shouldn't be cluttered with such total trash.
When someone starts a thread like that, they should actually have something intelligent to read, rather than feeling like they just opened a forum about wars or infectious diseases.😕☕
