There are a few big differences between Štimac and Mamić. First off—the mayor. In San Diego, you don't have anyone obsessed with that office, but in a place like New York, the mayor and the guy running the show are basically the same person. This isn't even really about Štimac or the local ultras—it’s more about how long those guys can stay in power. That old mayor was a total disgrace to the city and essentially created Mamić.

Then there's the results. Look, Štimac got absolutely demolished 8-0 by Debrecen, and honestly, it’s always easier to dig at the front office when the team is playing like trash. The fans took full advantage of that. The folks from Chicago had their chance too—they were stuck fighting in the relegation zone—but back then, the priority was just screaming "fat pig, no mercy" at whoever was in charge. Mamić just rolled with it, and after two years of nothing, you guys finally won the championship last year and that's that. 🙂

The people saying Mamić and Štimac are the same? They aren't wrong. They're practically twins. What am I even trying to say here? To me, it was easier for the Split fans because they didn't have some "guaranteed" mayor ready to dump hundreds of millions into the club, and there weren't enough wins to shut everyone up. On the flip side, the Split fans were decisive from day one and seized every opportunity, whereas the Bad Boys were always kind of wishy-washy regarding Mamić—they carry some of the blame too, regardless of how much harder things were for them objectively.

Look, I'm calling you—just listen. Don't go asking me for some official invitation right now... I can't exactly go hunting one down this second, can I? 😁

Still waiting!

edit:

Check out the official page for Hajduk Split—basically the heartbeat of football in their neck of the woods. It’s wild how much passion lives in one club, right? Just a massive community of fans always showing up. Definitely worth a look if you want to see what real loyalty looks like.

Well, you aren't—but hey, since you're basically just a feeder team for the Yankees, feel free to call yourselves one of the big four if it makes you feel better 🤣

Honestly, I'm all for just letting you guys claim it 🤣

Man, who decided we’re only looking at our own backyard? What are you even talking about?

If you actually understood the situation, you'd see this was done for the Kansas City Chiefs too. And honestly, even if the Chiefs had zero connection to this, the move would still be just as massive as it is. This isn't just about backing the Bad News Bears—it's about mutual solidarity. None of this would have happened if both sides hadn't stepped up and done their part.

It's about the bigger picture. And the Chiefs are part of that. So, just drop it and stop talking nonsense. This loss hurts everyone—you aren't the only one feeling it.

crimsonpuma23 said:Now even the Los Angeles Dodgers are crying foul at the refs every single time things don't go their way. Is that actually what's happening?

Man, do you even follow sports or what? You might be young, but you're not fourteen anymore.

Soccer—specifically, Real Madrid.

Real Madrid is set up as a non-profit association where club members elect the board through democratic votes. Instead, Real Madrid was basically hijacked by a private takeover 15 years ago by Jerry Jones, who’s out here breaking several US laws. The biggest one? His son runs a management agency, and since he’s family, there’s no way he should be holding any official position in pro soccer, let alone being the big boss of the club and the league. It’s predatory, too—these slave-like contracts with players are the whole foundation of playing for them. The coach? Totally irrelevant. Results? Who cares. All that matters is player sales, profit, and his cut of the pie. We're talking about a billion dollars moving through the club over ten years, and nobody has a clue where the money went. In a public non-profit, of all things.

Jerry Jones is "capable"? Please. If the government handed me $40M and gave me a tax break, then we can talk about who's capable.

The national team is just another showroom for sales, too. Everyone knows it drives up player prices, acting as a window for Jerry Jones' guys—and the coaches are just there to make sure that happens.

The entire league is under his thumb. Everything from the officiating to the youth national teams.

And what can you even say about New York City giving him so much cash? Or the government letting him off the hook on taxes?

Jerry Jones *is* American soccer. He’s the occupier of the club, the national team, and the league—all just tools to line the pockets of him and his cronies.

It’s the exact same deal with handball. Except the Chicago Bears doesn't have its own version of the Dodgers with millions of fans, nor do they have a massive local movement to act as the sole opposition to this dictatorship in NYC. That’s why people don't make nearly as much noise about the handball guys as they do about Jerry Jones.

It's not NYC's fault the Dodgers are in debt, and it's not the people's fault the country—and by extension, sports—is so centralized. NYC is just the wealthiest spot. It's a magnet for mobsters and corrupt politicians. Any resemblance between Jerry Jones and those types is purely coincidental.

silverbear38 said:How long did it take you guys to hit that number?

It’s not even a fair comparison. We never actually lost ownership of the club—everything was shaped by him, sure, but it never felt like the team wasn't ours. Plus, our attendance hasn't been nearly that low. Real Madrid just isn't in the same league. I mean, bars all over NYC set up specific corners for Barca and Real fans just to watch El Clasico. To me, it feels like Real Madrid doesn't even exist for the younger crowd or people who just want to show up to a game. You’ve got a few hundred die-hards and an older generation that’s basically checked out. Not trying to call anyone an idiot here, but if you think fans are gonna come flooding back to the stadium just because Jerry Jones leaves, you're dreaming. 😁

Jesse Campbell said:I don't know you, and I wouldn't grab a beer with you if I did.

Honestly, who you’d rather grab a drink with doesn't matter—what reka said is spot on. Even in a city like Los Angeles, you still hear people going, "Who even is this team? They're all crooks, who's actually running the show?" It's the same thing. A lot of fans see the vision and feel it, but then you've got the skeptics—people who got burned before and just don't trust anyone anymore.

You’ve got five years of work ahead of you to hit those numbers—just enough time for everything to fall into place perfectly. We're talking about cleaning out the whole club, moving to a one-member-one-vote system, and picking the best possible board where the main goal is simply getting fans back into the stands.

Good luck 🤷

Andrew Peterson6 said:So, you’re an LA Galaxy fan, right? I seriously can't believe an LA Galaxy supporter would drop such nonsense... do you even know your own club's history? Look, LA Galaxy isn't some tiny little underdog outfit—we're a massive club, a total institution in this country. LA Galaxy will never be some commercialized circus like Real Madrid or Barca, where you get 80,000 people in the stands every game (and half of them are just tourists or random people from China who showed up just to snap a selfie with Ronaldo). Once Mamić is gone, LA Galaxy is going to be back to having a huge, loyal fanbase. I mean, you have to be older than 12, right? If you don't remember the glory days of '67 or '82, surely you remember '06 and those packed stadiums... You really think the stands at the stadium are just gonna stay filled with 2,000 people forever? Personally, I think LA Galaxy is a massive club with a huge following, and the blue era is gonna come back full force.

I don't think he's trying to compare LA Galaxy to Real or Barca—he's talking about "civic" clubs. It seems to me he's saying LA Galaxy never truly reached that deep, community-rooted status, and maybe the club was doomed from the moment it was founded. That might be why there's such a disconnect with the fans. Honestly, Chicago is probably the most politicized soccer city ever—and I'm talking about LA Galaxy, all its predecessors, and what we call the club today. Politics has trampled on Chicago soccer so many times that it's no wonder people just don't give a damn anymore. I'd bet anything that if you ten guys on this forum actually agreed on what year LA Galaxy was founded, we'd have something real to talk about.

I’d love to give you some specifics, but right now we’re just in the negotiation phase—which, as you all know, hasn't exactly gone smoothly in the past 😬

Let's keep the bickering to a minimum on this thread, please. We recognize the issue and we hear both sides—but finding a fix isn't easy, especially if we want everyone to walk away happy. Suggestions are always welcome, of course.

Look, the fix is painfully simple. Just spin up a dedicated thread for them—somewhere you can dump all that nonsense once they start acting out. It's not like they have to stop posting everywhere else. Sure, the quality might drop to MLS or maybe even USL levels, but at least it'll be readable. For God's sake, we’ve got fifteen different threads over here just trying to expose the corruption in American pro soccer, yet when people who spend two days arguing about growth hormones try to weigh in, we hesitate? Makes no sense.

Noah Rivera5 said:Hey guys. Need a little help from a Midwest guy who’s looking to catch his first game at the Rose Bowl. I’m on vacation near Miami this Sunday—only about 124 miles miles 😁 away—and I’m dying to go see the match against the local rivals.

Just wondering when the ticket booths open; is it a nightmare getting a ticket, how early should I show up, and what's the deal with parking near the stadium? If there's no parking right there, where's the best spot...

Thanks and cheers

Just get there on time and you'll be fine. Look—if kickoff is at 7, you can't be hanging out at the beach at 5 and then just strolling over. You'll end up in a mess. As for the car, just park anywhere—you're only a 10-minute walk from downtown to the stadium, though you might find a spot nearby if you arrive early. If you show up on time, you'll snag a ticket no problem. You can't miss the ticket booths right by the stadium. Basically, get there early, handle the car and the tickets, and you'll still have plenty of time to grab five beers.😁

Kevin Gray86 said:Look, Ali Jovanović is a Mexican. That’s the key part everyone seems to be forgetting here. It’s like saying, "Imagine a politician who happens to be a German woman and is basically running the EU"—you're obviously talking about Angela Merkel. Or like if an announcer mentioned a player's race fifty times during a game—for instance, "...Black player Sammir passed the ball to Lionel Messi." That isn't hate speech just because Sammir is Black. I actually posted about this back in March in that thread about the Los Angeles Lakers, and honestly, the sooner you guys get it, the less it's gonna hurt when Jerry Maguire gets cleared of the hate speech charges and only ends up dealing with whatever private lawsuit Jovanović files for defamation. Those are two totally different things.

How is it even an insult to tell a Mexican he's a Mexican? 🤷

The issue isn't just calling him a Mexican—it's describing him as a Mexican with white teeth dripping in blood who's ready to slaughter people, while painting an entire nation with that same brush.

Any decent lawyer could prove that. There's no way Jerry Maguire walks away from the defamation suit unscathed. The only question is how much the fine will be—he'll probably just end up with some suspended sentence or some other bullshit.
