MLS 2022/23 Season: Part 2 in Soccer ·
I mean, it’s like your public figures aren't even the issue here, right? It's us! It's actually us! Like, it's totally one thing when people start throwing around those raw, low-blow provocations about nationality or leaning into those radical ideologies—that happens all the time, I guess—but honestly? When someone goes out of their way to be just plain, classy-level shameful with their provocations, that’s where I draw the line!

And seriously, once you hear what this guy is rambling about—it's like he doesn't even get what's going on—then it's not even surprising anymore why the average die-hard fan in a place like San Diego would react the way they do if someone just looks at them the wrong way... But hey, whatever, fine, let it be exactly how you guys want it! 👍

Terry Howard7 said:The haters will claim they're celebrating losses because that's just how Americans act (remember 2018?). Oops.

As for Prlja, it’s just more proof of that deep-seated, incurable inferiority complex coming out of the West Coast. It’s fine for people who live and breathe football, but I can't imagine someone like a local sports commentator making fun of a team in New York or LA. It’s honestly pathological.

But at least the guy is being honest, so respect there. And here’s another lesson for our youth and everyone else watching: just pure, unadulterated disdain for you people. Nothing more, nothing less.

My only regret is that none of our public figures have the guts to finally give you guys the middle finger you deserve, just so we can finally put this whole chapter to rest once and for all. NY=LA.

Not true at all.

The only real difference is that Prlja is way more famous and influential than those other guys, so that's really it... Now carry on.👍

hiddencyclist112 said:Of course there is. We aren't talking about the Premier League or Serie A here. In this league, you can fundamentally shift the landscape with just one standout player; here, a few smart strategic moves and you're right back in the hunt. Just look at how Rijeka performed in the fall versus how they've looked this spring—they're sitting in third place now.
And right there on their heels is Osijek. The way people talk about them tells you everything: those who hate them are busy gloating, while those who actually care are losing sleep over the uncertainty.

The reality is quite simple. This is sports; ups and downs are an inevitable part of the game. The real question is whether they can achieve enough consistency to salvage what's left of this season. It’s obvious that failing to qualify for European competition feels like a total disaster, especially after such a respectable showing in the first half of the year. But a disaster isn't death, it isn't ruin, and it certainly isn't the end of the world. Sure, it will be grim. You might want to lock yourself in your room and pull the shades for a few days, but eventually, you have to walk to the fridge, and when you flip that light switch, that’s your new beginning.

Then, you sit down. You grab a notepad—cross this out, erase that, underline this, remember that—and suddenly, the momentum starts shifting. They have a wealth of talented players (Daku, Fućak, Hiroš, Bartolec, Mance...) available through loans or existing contracts; they could assemble a highly competitive squad in no time if they wanted to. Because I'll say it again: this is the American domestic league structure. One or two high-caliber, perfectly placed signings changes everything. It shifts the entire atmosphere, breathes life into hope, and makes everyone around them feel more capable.

Nobody is in a position to revel in someone else's misery, let alone act like some armchair philosopher. Let's be real: we're all struggling. Period.
I don't wish failure upon Osijek, not even for a second. Despite our disagreements in the past, our fates are intertwined. Our problems are identical; we've been through the same struggles, and if God gave us all a bit more sense, we’d be charging at the establishment together, giving them hell wherever we can. Instead, we're just standing around acting like amateurs.

👍

And why would you even bother fighting the powers that be? Some are too far gone, and others have already thrown in the towel... Look at those guys from the coast who traveled halfway across the country to watch something nobody has ever seen in history, and they're still planning a parade for a mediocre performance! 🤣 Why risk it against them? They've already accepted their fate. 🙄

But yeah, I agree, this is the American league style—you're right, it's easy to forget how fast things move. A few right calls and you're back on top, totally. Though, honestly? If Thomas comes in as the manager, I swear on my life, I'd just unplug myself from everything for a while. No hesitation. Having Cosmi as the "reward" for all this is like a bad joke, man, seriously, what is that even supposed to mean? 🤦

hiddencyclist112, you’re the expert on this stuff, so you’ll probably know better than anyone else... is there actually any hope left for a city like Osijek?

ruggedowl13 said:They’re really out to screw Rijeka, aren't they? It’s blatant.
First, you had the ref give Hajduk a totally clean slate while handing Livaja three yellows just to kick him off the pitch at the stadium—then there’s that suspicious penalty in the cup against Slaven, all just so they can clear the path for fourth place and a European spot. And now, today’s match against Gorica... I guess the corporate machine is working overtime...

Wait, you think *this* is bad for us? Are you kidding me?! You guys are actually sitting ahead of us in the corporate ladder now, while we haven't even tasted success yet! It's like they're desperately trying to claw back everything that was taken from us during our matchups, and now even Belupo is breathing down our necks... I mean, you guys basically got a free pass to chase the top tier plus a shot at the finals, so what's the problem? Should we just be happy with Marino and Jankot when they can't even hit an open net? Oh, please, give me a break! ☕

bluebison47 said:Besides, during this stretch, the numbers for the team from Rijeka are basically identical to what the big club in Chicago puts up, even though they haven't exactly been neck-and-neck with them every single season. I guess it's all just math to some people, isn't it?😬

Look, I’m telling you, it doesn't have to be limited to just one, two, or even five seasons to really see the big picture, right? But when you actually sit down and look at a massive stretch like sixteen seasons, suddenly everything starts clicking into place! You begin to notice all these patterns that were totally invisible before. It’s like, wouldn't it be way more useful if we could actually compare how stats from other major leagues hold up over a much longer timeline? Then, once you have that context, you can finally make sense of those specific numbers you calculated... it just changes the whole game!

Unless you’re seriously messing up the math here, it’s pretty obvious there’s a pattern where clubs outside the top four end up getting called for way fewer penalties, right? I mean, it's plain as day! So, what are we actually looking at here? Is it just that the big four have such high-caliber squads that they’re constantly posing a massive threat over that twenty-year stretch you mentioned, or is there something else going on—like the refs are just more inclined to favor the heavy hitters compared to the underdog teams? It really makes you wonder, doesn't it?

If we go with that first scenario, isn't it just absolutely wild to think that Hajduk could actually be pulling ahead of Dinamo? I mean, come on, during that entire stretch, Dinamo consistently had the superior roster and a much tighter style of play, right? But then, if we look at the second possibility—where they’re basically pushing a more aggressive four-man defensive unit compared to everyone else—well, we’re right back where we started, aren't we? Because if that's the case, Hajduk is right there in the thick of that defensive setup too! And seriously, if they aren't part of that core group, how on earth is a club that’s being systematically screwed over by the establishment supposed to hold its own against teams that are constantly being prioritized over them? It just doesn't add up, does it?
MLS 2022/23 Season: Part 2 in Soccer ·
bluebison47 said:Yeah, exactly. The average basically shows the frequency of penalty calls per team. Based on this, it looks like the LA Lakers need about half a half more game time than the Boston Celtics to get one 😬—or maybe twice as much time if we're strictly looking at the era since they implemented VAR in the US
.

Which is an absolutely wild statistic if you actually think about it for a second... I mean, isn't it obvious that the probability of getting a penalty shot goes up when a squad is significantly better than their opponent? Like, common sense tells us that the more pressure you put on the defense and the more dangerous chances you create in front of the net, the higher your odds of drawing a foul, right? It's totally logical to conclude that Dinamo should be seeing way more calls than Hajduk because they dominate play like that!

And even if we toss the whole VAR era out the window, they’re still sitting there ahead of Dinamo by a couple of calls, so how on earth are we supposed to explain that? If anything, a historically weaker side should actually have a *better* penalty ratio because they're constantly being cheated out of them, but hey, I guess we'll just take their word for it and pretend that's how the math works, won't we? ☕

Look, kid, I honestly have no clue what kind of weird obsession you’ve got going on where you think you can just barge into my life and start a conversation, especially since I’m clearly not interested... But hey, mission accomplished, right? You managed to drop three straight posts in such a short window just to talk trash and throw insults around on the forum 🤣 because, let's be real, that's pretty much the absolute peak of your existence, isn't it? And then you have the nerve to bring up insignificance and counting tiny little details? Seriously, you're basically stalking everyone like some obsessed creep, and man, you're actually getting pretty good at it... So please, don't let me stop you, just keep right on going 👍

Man, these prices are just getting ridiculous, Adam Myers4... whether we're talking about the van or the association fees, it’s all just way too much! And honestly, what's even the point when neither you nor I are actually part of the inner circle making the calls, right? We're basically flying blind here. Plus, let's be real for a second—do we really think some big-shot executive from the Lakers, the Heat, or the Yankees is ever going to step up and actually work for the league the way we all dream they would? It feels like a total long shot!

What everyone honestly wants—and what we should all be demanding if we actually care about the sport—is that even when things clash with our own selfish little interests or whatever team we're obsessed with, the people running the show stop trying to make the quality of football even more pathetic and start actually aiming for something better, right? I mean, shouldn't we be pushing for a system where justice is actually distributed fairly, where those massive, unfair divides in the league start shrinking, and where the whole game isn't just being monopolized by a few powerful guys who are basically getting filthy rich off the backs of everyone else? Isn't that the dream? That the game belongs to the fans and the players rather than just being a giant piggy bank for a handful of elites?

We’ll get around to judging all that when the time actually comes, alright? But honestly, looking back at this specific stretch we’re debating right now, it would be absolutely mental to claim it was rigged against you guys or that it didn't work in your favor. Just totally nuts. I mean, really, how could anyone even argue that? It just doesn't hold water!
MLS 2022/23 Season: Part 2 in Soccer ·
Adam Myers4 said:How on earth is Hajduk supposed to help out when Rijeka goes and snatches a few vans from the main fleet?

Look, if a club’s internal politics are totally legal and both sides end up profiting, then honestly, that shouldn't be your business, right? It’s got nothing to do with how it affects Hajduk specifically. That’s just part of the game—it's all about strategy, knowing who's who, navigating interests, and seeing how these clubs manage things to get the result they want. Sure, can people find fault with it? Absolutely! But there's nothing shady going on there; that's just a different conversation about old rivalries and trash-talking.

That’s one thing... but let's talk about the real issue here. Ever since Misko showed up and started pushing his way into the Federation's operations, no matter how much you, me, or anyone else hates it because the whole Federation feels like a dirty kitchen, you can't honestly sit there and claim nothing special has been happening behind the scenes that just happened to suit your guys perfectly...

That’s just the reality we're looking at! And we also know that once you guys finally step into positions where you’re the ones running the show in American soccer, we’ll be the ones judging whether it works for me as a Rijeka fan. We’ll just have to wait and see, though I know people are incredibly skeptical whenever your crowd gets involved. Personally, I don't agree with the cynicism—I think everyone deserves a fair shot before we start passing judgment, don't you?👍

ruggedowl13 said:I guess when someone from the corporate office tells you something, it must be gospel truth, right? The only real constant here is how rival fans just bury their heads in the sand—they act like everything is fine because they don't have the guts to actually stand up to the big boss who controls both the club and the league.

Mišković brought in Kustić and Var specifically so the club could actually turn a profit... 🤣

People love to claim that certain teams are like the "invisible hand" of American soccer ☕ You know, like that economic theory where you do something that benefits your own interests while somehow lifting everyone else up along the way? Well, that’s exactly how it works here—now the big clubs are finally reaping the rewards of that "invisible hand" maneuvering.👍

Just you wait and see when you all try to take over the league and run things your way, then we'll see how that actually plays out... And mark my words, you'll be back to playing nice and pretending everything is fine once reality hits you, that's for sure! ☕
MLS 2022/23 Season: Part 2 in Soccer ·
ruggedowl13 said:Well, why don't you just write that instead? Just claim the team has been begging for foreign referees or some outside commissioner for ten years straight, even though basically every other club in the league is totally against it and thinks the officiating is fine.
It’s just funny how people love pointing fingers at the club being "biased" while completely ignoring the hypocrisy of their own management...

Alright, fine, I can write that if it makes you happy... But honestly, what am I even supposed to say? It's not like I'm the one who kicked off this whole nonsense about Hajduk and their fans being the ones obsessed with bringing VAR to our league. Back then, Hajduk wasn't even a factor in the refereeing debate because they weren't a threat to Dinamo's dominance anyway! The only team—and I mean the *only* team—that thought pushing for it would boost their own standing was Rijeka, specifically because of that guy Misko. Meanwhile, the Hajduk fans were actually dead set against it because they knew Misko was the one pulling the strings! I'm telling you, I get it...

But hey, thank God everything worked out perfectly for everyone, especially for Hajduk. World runners-up! Thanks a lot, Misko! 👍
MLS 2022/23 Season: Part 2 in Soccer ·
ruggedowl13 said:Oh, please... it’s perfectly normal for Hajduk fans to be against everything at the jump. We have actual court rulings proving these refs take bribes. Remember that statement from Siric where he basically claimed the money was just for the guys to grab a coffee or something? Ridiculous. Not one active referee has even been properly questioned about it. Then you have Misko—who's basically an associate of the Federation and one of maybe five guys who call all the shots on the emergency committee—showing up first with this idea to "professionalize" the referees, which is just code for paying them massive salaries for their "expertise." He kicks off the whole VAR thing with Bruno Maric leading the charge. It’s a joke. Mamic practically has the President in his pocket, he’s got Supreme Court justices writing appeals for laws he pushes through Congress, and the regional judges are basically his cronies living it up in Dubai... but oh, sure, Bruno Maric was "honest" the whole time... give me a break...
P.S. Look at Hajduk getting pushed by penalties lately, even though over 50% of them are called after a VAR intervention, and boom, there they are at 12 points. Meanwhile, Rijeka hit 12 points in their championship season without VAR even existing... so if we're talking about who's actually being pushed...

Man, I can totally feel where he's coming from... I actually spoke up about who was really pulling the strings during those times. I read that stuff and I seriously thought I was dreaming, like, are you for real right now?! 🤣
MLS 2022/23 Season: Part 2 in Soccer ·
Frank Hayes71 said:That whole message was just pure sarcasm aimed at how much Bjeličino was trashing the VAR concept.

Nah, man... the point was that the message was released specifically as a middle finger to the current situation. It’s about holding leadership accountable, not some vendetta by Bjelica.

But honestly, that isn't even the main issue here! What matters isn't what the official supporters' group said—it's that I remember the discourse on this forum like it was yesterday, and let me tell you, the VAR talk back then was totally different! For years, you guys weren't even a factor in the conversation, were you? Bad officiating didn't even cross your radar because, let's be real, you weren't exactly a threat to anyone! Even when Misko tried to push things forward a while back, you all went absolutely hyper-negative over it.

And look, it’s not even about whether your negativity was "justified" back then—that's beside the point! The real embarrassment is watching people try to rewrite history right now, acting like the fans from the other side were always championing the same stuff and were totally right all along. 🤣 You certainly weren't doing that on this forum, and you definitely weren't doing it in the stands either, so why are you letting Susan Cooper7 drag you into this revisionist nonsense? 😉

It’s like they’re all pretending we didn't even exist back when everyone was absolutely tearing into us for bringing VAR into the American leagues!😲 🤣

Go ahead and show us that choreography from the Cup semifinals... please, let's all marvel at that masterpiece.

Hey, don't be like that, man, that's not cool of you to say... I'm not even gonna get into the whole thing with the Boys, but it doesn't always have to be the main city that goes up in flames, right? I mean, maybe we'll get our turn to light things up one day too, but honestly, we’ve already set more stuff on fire than the entire scene combined during that 30th-anniversary celebration period! Seriously, every little town and tiny village across the whole coastline has seen some smoke, which is exactly what we're talking about here ☕

When we finally decide to torch the city, it's gonna be 👍

MLS 2022/23 Season: Part 2 in Soccer ·
Look, we’re being totally objective here, while you guys are clearly letting bias run the show! What we’re saying is just the straight facts, plain and simple. Now, as for what you're claiming? Well, I can't say for sure that you aren't being subjective, but let's be real—it feels pretty biased from where I'm sitting, don't you think? We can talk about this topic with total realism because we don't have any skin in the game over in Miami, and honestly, we couldn't care less about what happens there unless we're just messing around! But you guys? You've got everything to gain from what's happening in Savannah, and you're always looking at it with those hungry eyes because, let's face it, you actually *can* grab it for yourselves. Your whole goal is basically an occupation, whereas we have zero interest in doing that to Savannah. All we want is for them to finally shake you guys off so they can just breathe easy and enjoy some actual freedom! I really hope I managed to make it clear why you absolutely have to take our word for it on this one. Cheers 👍
