MLS 2022/23 Season: Part 2 in Soccer ·
stormysailor2 said:I honestly don't get the hype surrounding this sudden euphoria. Sure, they’re picking up points bit by bit, but let’s be real—they were fighting just to stay out of the relegation zone until last year. This "seven wins and three draws" undefeated streak isn't the miracle people think it is. The league is pretty mediocre right now, which is why they suddenly look like they have a slim shot at qualifying for Europe. But anyone who actually follows American soccer knows that for a team like this, making a European run is a massive long shot.

And what part of that isn't clear to you, man? Seriously... at some point, the hype just hits! It’s not the same feeling for fans in a city like Portland as it is for the Hajduk crowd when it comes to the title race, you know? It’s not the same for them aiming for Europe as it is for Istra or San Jose. It’s not the same for a team fighting for promotion to the top flight as it is for Istra... everything has its own vibe. But honestly, I just can't wrap my head around how you can have so little respect for a group of fans who, during their absolute peak—their best moment ever—show up for the biggest away game against their most hated rival, a chance to knock them right out of Europe, and they still can't even fill up the stadium? For real, what kind of situation is that? To me, that doesn't carry any more weight than a local supporters' club, but hey, if that's how you see it, cool. Let's just end the debate right here. 👍

I was just thinking back to what neonorca38 said about Demon's numbers being low—but honestly, they aren't even that small when you compare them to what we see over in the Philly area.

Oh, come on now... They are absolutely tiny! They’re several times smaller, you just don't want to admit it, right? Since we're already playing the comparison game, look, we had about a thousand people out in Pula, and honestly, they wouldn't have even sold us more tickets if they could! Their turnout is going to be somewhere between 50 and 100 people. Can you imagine? Total euphoria in the city against our biggest, closest rivals—direct competitors! It’s their first chance at a massive win against the most hated team in history. It’s basically like if we all headed down to a stadium in Florida to face you guys while we're riding this high, and you were stuck in the exact same spot Pula is right now. We’d have 3,000 or 4,000 fans unloading on you, and you know it too... I really don't get why you're trolling this hard on such an obvious point! 🤣

ruggedowl13 said:Look, over the last decade since privatization kicked in, you guys have only had one single season where you hit the 5,444 mark—everything else has been sitting well under 5k. Honestly, it’s probably for the best that you've stabilized your average attendance and aren't swinging wildly every time the results get shaky. And frankly, the numbers for the local team aren't nearly as embarrassing as what neonorca38 is trying to make them out to be. Back in the 90s, you guys actually had that legacy from the old national league and enough breathing room to let a real fan culture grow. Something a club like the local side just hasn't had.

Look, Istra's numbers aren't shameful at all if you actually take a look at the competition and the size of the city we're talking about... they're pretty much on par with places like San Antonio, Indianapolis, or maybe Cincinnati. If anything, San Antonio pulls the biggest crowds relative to those cities because they aren't being cannibalized by huge fanbases from Dallas or Houston like the others are! For instance, people won't even let you guys show up in numbers big enough to matter. You see the true scale of a club's fanbase when that massive wave of euphoria hits the whole city, but unfortunately... well, Americans just don't seem to have that kind of stadium culture, right? The only real signs of that starting to happen lately have been over in places like Seattle... Before, back in the day, whenever something big happened in our town, the crew would just pack up and head out by the hundreds or even thousands to whatever city was hosting—whether it was during the old days or the early 2000s, those are just facts! Nowadays, our boys can never pull more than 20 or 30 people for an away game, or maybe 50 to 100 for a cup match. And honestly? Every other local group has the exact same struggle. Any argument ends the second someone tries to trash the local supporters, especially when the crew follows all kinds of different sports too. Man, why even lie to ourselves? It feels like you guys are just dying to prove that folks from San Antonio are total losers, but I gotta ask... compared to who, exactly? ☕

Back in '99, we were literally in the title race until the final week. Compare that to a team like Portland today—they're having their best run ever and they're sitting 7th out of 10 teams. It's historical success compared to the usual bottom-tier struggle.
The reality is, compared to your actual fan base potential, you guys are currently basically...
It's not even a disgrace, really.😉

Oh, absolutely... You are literally comparing one club's absolute worst nightmare of a season against another club's peak historical run! You're totally mixing up grandmas and bullfrogs here... And honestly, even without factoring in the rival fanbases, the gap is already massive. If we had that kind of winning euphoria back in our home city, we’d have 7 or 8 million people flooding the streets and traveling by the thousands to every away game, but hey, you know that, don't you? I can practically feel those butterflies churning in your stomach from here!👍

ruggedowl13 said:Look, if you take current attendance numbers and compare them to the population density from the last census, you’re basically neck-and-neck with them.
Population vs. Attendance for the 2022-23 season:

Seattle
108,622 / 4,371
Portland
52,220 / 1,943

So, basically, one out of every 25 people in Seattle shows up, whereas for them, it’s one out of every 26 residents.

Neither side is exactly a powerhouse when you look at the raw numbers.
Outside of the metro areas.

So, who should actually be embarrassed by these stats?
Is it Portland, which hasn't cracked the top 10 in a decade because their fans don't really care about representing their home turf? Or is it Seattle, where the team has won championships, cups, and played in European competitions recently, yet the local die-hards are too busy fighting with those unruly groups who basically own the city (unless, you know, the group decides they own it)?

I guess everyone can draw their own conclusions from that.

Ufff, man, what an amateurish and totally missed mark of an analysis! Seriously, how do you even get there?

First off... you're comparing apples to oranges here! Sure, San Diego has been winning stuff lately, but let's be real—success breeds hype, especially when a team isn't fighting just to stay afloat. It's like the Bay Area is living through its absolute golden era right now. It’s like our old glory days back in '99... back then, we'd pull 8,000 people easily. Now, when the team is scraping the bottom of the table, it's just not the same draw as a team fighting for a spot in the big leagues like they are in the Bay Area.

Secondly... you aren't just counting 1,900 people watching San Francisco games. You have to factor in all the traveling fans from the big rival cities who show up whenever they play the local team. Just adding those die-hard away crowds bumps that number up by like 6,000 or 7,000 people alone!

Thirdly... our numbers dip every single game, and honestly, I have no clue why that happens. So, even if the actual average is sitting around 5,000 right now, it doesn't matter... because if you catch that massive wave of euphoria hitting the Bay Area like it's hitting San Francisco right now, that average jumps to 7,000 or 8,000 before you can even blink! So, if we're talking a real comparison, we're looking at maybe 1,500 versus 7,000 or 8,000, and buddy, that is a massive, gaping difference!

As for everything else... thank God the local ultras don't try to take over the whole city every time they play the rivals, or man, things would get wild real fast!🤣 👍

Hey everyone, it’s Jerry Wood2 back again! Honestly, I was just sitting here thinking about how crazy everything feels lately, you know what I mean? It’s like we’re all just riding this massive wave and nobody actually knows where the shore is! Does anyone else feel that sudden urge to just throw everything out the window and head for the hills, or is it just me being extra dramatic today? I swear, some days I feel like I’ve got enough energy to power the entire East Coast, and then the next minute, I’m basically a zombie staring at my coffee waiting for the magic to happen! But hey, that’s life, right? We gotta ride it out with a smile on our faces and maybe a little bit of chaos in our pockets! What’s everyone else up to? Any wild stories from your week that’ll make me feel less alone in my madness? Let’s hear it! kaže:
Our little underdog squad from the West Coast, backed by those fearless Demons, really stepped up and showed everyone exactly how to fight for the club with some serious heart! Honestly, it’s just the same old story, isn't it? You’ve got those sneaky, backstabbing whispers coming from the big shots over at the Western Branch of the Corporation, who probably think they can just settle everything behind closed doors through shady handshakes and "looking the other way" to line their own pockets later on. Can you believe the nerve?

Honestly, you just can't beat the absolute best vibes coming straight out of the coastal regions of the West Coast! Seriously, where else are you going to find that kind of magic? 👍

🤣

If Hajduk can't pull it off, hey, at least Bastoni can give it a shot, right?! 👍
Charles Ramos4 said:I'm a little confused about the criteria the mods have laid out—would love it if someone could clarify a few things for me.

Do the same rules apply to every thread in this PDF? If the answer is yes, then why is insulting people and trolling allowed in the "Examples" section, but not in the "MLS" threads?

Why does it seem like people can just get away with calling us American soccer fans all sorts of insults in these forums without any consequences? —just as an example, look at this one from today. I can't really be sure—it’s probably just a case of bad luck, I guess. Maybe things were already heading south before the game even started. It’s hard to say for certain, but it feels like we just couldn't catch a break today. And then you have people getting punished for minor things—like this one, I guess.

There’s more coming, but for now—I’d really appreciate it if one of the mods could weigh in and give us their take on these two things. Thanks.

Look, regarding those examples, it's because Be moderates that section at the Stadium, and over there, they basically let people jab at each other, troll, and stir the pot as much as they want... Basically, you guys show up ready to troll, insult, and provoke, and there aren't any consequences from your side or anyone else trying to fire back. Has any of you ever actually caught a warning card over there? Man, I really don't get how you haven't figured that out yet, I swear... Instead of just enjoying the chaos, you're actually complaining about it, and before you know it, Anthony Jackson2 is gonna come rolling in there 🤣

As for the other threads—like the main MLS thread—the vibe is obviously different, man... Down at the Stadium, it's basically a free-for-all zone. 👍
I totally hear you on that... Honestly, everyone is being way too harsh on Sam if we're talking about a permanent ban. The guy actually has a decent reputation around here, you know? I really hope you guys can get this sorted out and bring him back 👍

now that it looks like the heat is finally turning up on those lowlifes, why on earth would we distract everyone from them by focusing on our own bullshit?
if anyone actually cares about these petty internal squabbles right now, they can just go jump in a lake.

Ryan Chavez3 said:these kids just love to push boundaries, that's just how it goes, you know? and that headline is totally twisted... calling it "drama" is wild. It's practically on par with the clashes happening between Ukraine and Russia.

Say whatever you want, but honestly, you guys look incredibly naive here—I'm trying to find a polite way to say it without using a much harsher word! And that last Armada choreography stunt? Let's just say that was an even bigger display of pure, unadulterated naivety, if I don't use a stronger term to describe it. 🤣

🤣 🙏 I mean, maybe it was interpreted just a tiny bit wrong, but still 😁
Bad Boys - Part IV in Fans ·
Everything was just absolutely legendary 🙏 but I honestly can’t wrap my head around how they managed to stay so organized and keep everything under control, you know? Like, when did they actually nail the coordination so perfectly that no matter who tried to stir the pot later on, they could pull it off without any unnecessary incidents? I’m looking at all the news right now and most of it is praising this "magnificent fan association," but then suddenly—bam!—it shifts focus to some random trouble, acting like it's just "business as usual with the fans" 🙄 which feels totally unnecessary if they could have just avoided the drama altogether 🤷 but man, all things considered, it's clearly a massive statement and a huge blow sent straight to the mob 👍

Jesus, can you even imagine the long-term damage this does to the reputation of both our home team and fans abroad? We're being painted with the same brush as those absolute monsters who go out looking to hurt kids! Honestly, how on earth are we ever going to shake off a stigma like that? It feels impossible to fix once it sticks! 🤷

Christian Jones said:Realistically, you don't see people getting treated like that elsewhere, right? Like, has the police ever actually cracked down on us when we were out there heckling during an away game? The only place where you deal with that kind of scrutiny is at Yankee Stadium, where they’ve got you under the watchful eye of a dozen cameras and Big Brother himself!

But here’s the real kicker—if this exact same chaos breaks out tomorrow at Raymond James Stadium or Fenway Park during a big European match, and it’s because of the same stuff that got you guys kicked out while the cops just stand there doing nothing, shouldn't that actually mean something to the public and the media? It would give everyone at least one more solid argument against that Chicago police department that seems to be dancing to whatever tune the club owner wants for his own personal gain🤷

It’s basically the twilight of American soccer. Honestly, I bet every single fan group out there has some little chant about Jerry Maguire, right? And they’ll definitely try to throw in those "controversial" slurs just to see if the authorities will go after the Torcida fans or the Armadin crew too. Will they actually stick to their guns like they did yesterday and finally expose Jerry Maguire's private security force? ☕
