Ever tried using an absolute cell reference like = Sheet3!$C$3

Benjamin Wilson7 said:Wanna know how to run it and if capitalization is gonna be an issue? Because it keeps forcing uppercase, at least for me.
Basically, just use lowercase in the code and you'll be fine.

Lord Byron provided the macro order with lowercase letters, I used uppercase "on purpose." We gotta actually think a little here instead of acting like robots ;-)

@beyonce111

@fooreest basically answered your question. Those links—and even those tutorials more broadly—have plenty of info where you can wrap your head around how to record a macro order and how to run it.

If you want to record the macro order yourself (though I don't get why you'd ask how to record one when you already have the code and are asking where to put it?)
From what I gather, you want to learn how to record a macro, right? Pro tip: work on a copy of your document just in case.

Recording (creating a custom macro order by following specific steps in a task).
1. Hit the record macro button
2. Just go through all the steps you want, step-by-step—in your case, finding/replacing all the palatals
3. Stop recording the macro order
4. Add some text to that same doc (something containing those special characters)
5. Hit Alt+F8
6. Run the recorded macro
If it swaps out all the palatals, then you nailed it ;-)

Copy/Pasting existing macro code
1. Open the doc where you need to swap the palatals
2. Hit Alt+F11 to open the VBE
3. Double-click ThisDocument in the left menu
4. Paste the copied macro code into the right pane (there are pictures for this in that tutorial)
5. Head back to the doc and hit Alt+F8, etc., etc.
Noah Cooper40 said:I should probably just record a Macro to handle this.

@LordByron already gave you the fix and the breakdown. If you really want to record a Macro "by yourself," just check out how it’s done—it’s the exact same deal in Microsoft Word.

- Wanna know how to record a Macro step-by-step? Here's the deal.
- Saving a Macro.

Anyway, here’s the full Macro code for all the palatals. Obviously, you can just strip out whatever parts you don't need, like @LordByron already pointed out.

Code:
Sub Macro1()
'
' Macro1 Macro
'
'

You didn't say which version of Word you're using?

A radio button is just an ActiveX control in Word (an Option button). You'll find it on the Control Toolbox toolbar. Check these links out, might help you out

- Radio buttons in Word 2003
- If you're using Word 2007 check this out
- If it's Word 2010, you gotta create a Forms toolbar first. For that look here
Justin Torres77 said:So I just copied all the duplicate numbers into different columns to slim down the spreadsheet. Mine's over 700 rows long

Personally, I’d just stick with SUBTOTAL for stuff like this
Drew Bennett68 said:I need to merge a bunch of different files into one single document in Word... Is there a way to stop them from messing each other up? Like, can I use sections so each part keeps its own formatting when I combine them?

Just merge everything and throw a new section break in for every file.

Kimberly Smith69 said:how though?

Not sure if I'm too late here, but if you haven't figured it out yet, just check a tutorial.

- File association
Kimberly Smith69 said:Whenever I save stuff as a PDF, I get this???

Look, any file ending in .pdf needs to be opened with Adobe Acrobat Reader.

Open up File Explorer and check what the file association looks like. It should have the Adobe Acrobat Reader icon. If you don't see it—or if it’s trying to open in Word—then your file associations are totally messed up.

If there's no icon at all, you probably don't even have Acrobat installed.

Just grab Adobe Acrobat OVDJE and install it.
If you already have it, your computer just got confused and set Word as the default for PDFs. You'll need to go in and change those settings back.
Nicholas King said:She's summing data in every 7th, 14th, etc. table, not a data range

Not sure how you read that tutorial, man, but the title is literally "Summing every nth row in a column.
Nicholas King said:I'd love to see the raw data, the specific cell range you're working with, and that incorrect sum you're getting.

Something's definitely wonky with his formula, so yeah, I'm curious about the input too. But honestly, sharing those specifics might just trip up anyone else reading this who's stuck on the same thing. So, here's a quick little breakdown for anyone else running into this issue (at least based on this example)

Summing every nth row in a column
Justin Torres77 said:I've got 6 products here and a total for every single retail location.
Basically, every store has 7 identical rows (same product names, just different spots). I need a sum at the bottom for all the 1st rows, all the 2nd rows, etc...

Posting this for everyone else reading the thread. You explained it pretty well, but I'm still stuck on why @LordByron's formula isn't working
=SUMPRODUCT((A2:A100)*(0+MOD(ROW(A2:A100)-1;7)=0))
Obviously, if you start at A3, you'd need to change it to -2 in the formula

That formula you shared
=SUMPRODUCT(--(MOD(ROW(A3:A465)-ROW(A3);7)=0);A3:A465)
doesn't quite hit the mark here (at least based on what I think you're trying to do). For the sake of anyone else hitting this same wall later, could you break down how yours works? Maybe grab a screenshot if you can.

Nicholas King said:Here’s how you kill Autocorrect.

Might work as a quick fix, but it doesn't actually solve the root cause. The real issue is probably buried somewhere else.😉

Turning off Autocorrect isn't always a smart move either.

What happens if someone typos words like:
- inperator (when they meant emperor)
- inaće (when they meant otherwise)
and stuff like that...

Check HERE, HERE, and HERE
Arthur Sanchez10 said:So, I’ve got two different tables on the same sheet, right? I'm trying to adjust the row height for one, but every time I try to tweak it, the entire column width shifts for the whole damn file. What gives?🙂

Row height changes... what's the deal? post width I can swap them out manually one by one.
You got a Macro for this?
Can you just upload that file somewhere for download? Use fake data, obviously.

Hannah Fisher95 said:Seriously, does anyone know how I can translate a PowerPoint from English to American?

You're being super vague. What are you actually trying to translate? Some text inside a PowerPoint or just looking for some American-language instructions for PowerPoint?
ironpuma62 said:Fixed it.

Fine, but just so everyone else following this thread isn't lost, here’s a quick way to handle one or two of those conditions:

- If you're looking at shift and date, you can just use a formula to sum up the defective product quantities (had to add a space in B2: B5 because of an emoji I used)
=SUMPRODUCT(--(B2: B5=E1);--(A2:A5=E2);C2:C5)

- If the condition is just the date, then use a formula to sum the defective product quantities
=SUMPRODUCT((A2:A5=E10)*C2:C5)

Robin Jackson63 said:wondering how to set up Word (2007) or maybe Excel (if Word won't do it) to count how many times a specific highlighted word shows up in the whole text?

If you just need a quick count, Word won't explicitly show you the total frequency on the screen. Just hit the FIND button and search for the word. After you use the Highlight button, it’ll tell you exactly how many times that word pops up in the doc.
