And what happens if, say, green and white end up having the exact same count? Is that even possible?
You should probably just upload a sample file for us to grab. Throw in some realistic data so we can actually see what you're dealing with—I bet it's way more complicated than this little example shows.
mellowbear21 said:but I'm trying to figure out how to grab the next minimum after that first one (without including the previous one itself)............What function should I be using here?

Try using the SMALL function.

I don't have any issues downloading files even with my AV running.

Sam Peterson6 said:The circles should be centered on the list (X coordinate) and sit about 0.8 inches from the top and bottom edges of the page.

Here's a starting point: circles with these dimensions—you'll have to mess around with the positioning and grouping settings yourself.
analogtiger19 said:So, basically... if my internet goes down for a few hours, can I still use Office or am I just stuck? 🤷

Za Just a few seconds. You could've found that out yourself.
The speakers kept hitting on how reliable and top-tier Microsoft’s data centers actually are. They basically promised that users won't be dealing with any lost data—you know, unlike some of those other services out there that can't seem to keep things together. You can even work offline.Once you log in for the first time, all your data from your local machine just syncs right up to the cloud. Done.
Henry Lewis37 said:that whole bit about the tiny bars, the lines, and making sure the numbers actually stay on the same side as the bar itself.

Look, you're basically asking for a full syllabus here. A Chart in Excel can get pretty hairy for beginners once things get even slightly complicated. You gotta nail the basics of how to build a Chart first.

- Chart in Excel 2003
- Chart in Excel 2007

Then just Google "negative value on Chart data Bar"

If the sum in this cell range is less than twenty, I want it to show 20. If it's more, just show the actual total.

Look, when you're messing with nested functions in Excel, you gotta follow the syntax rules for all the arguments.

The syntax for an Excel IF function goes like this:

Code:
=IF(logical_test;value_if_true;value_if_false)

Basically, you're missing an argument.

If you nest a SUM function inside an IF function, you have to finish out that SUM argument properly.
So, your formula should look like this:
Quote:
=IF(SUM(B3: B6)td>

BTW: check this link for Excel functions with their full syntax and arguments.

[EDIT]: my bad frozenheron7, you already answered while I was typing.

Just select the new cell, hit Insert Page Break or just wipe out all the old ones and start fresh.

Might be a rule you set up causing this. Check your Rules if you ever messed with them.

What's wrong with Ivana_C's tutorials? They're top-tier. If you think you can do better, go ahead and prove it. Better work is the only real critique.

Guys, these two posts are OFF topic.
Honestly, it's not worth the attention or wasting anyone's time. No need for stuff like this—just stick to what this forum is actually about.
cheers
Taylor Parker5 said:Kyle Johnson2, I'm starting my Microsoft Excel training next week. I honestly feel bad for you already because I have zero clue what I'm doing.

???, Easy for you to say. Just sit down, read, and learn. Check out the links for Microsoft Excel 2003 for beginners and Microsoft Excel 2007—there's plenty of examples there (doesn't matter if you're using Microsoft Excel 2010 or 2013), plus all the other beginner stuff on that site. Not to mention YouTube and the rest of the web. Don't just wait around for someone to fix your problems for you. When you're actually working on something and hit a wall, *that's* when you reach out. Post a specific example so we can see exactly where you're stuck; it makes it way easier to help you get past it. It wasn't rocket science for me to put these tutorials together, so don't tell me it's too hard to learn. From now on, I'm not replying to requests for help unless there's an actual file attached showing where the issue is. I'm done doing everyone's homework for them.

Steven Roberts7 said:I need some practice exercises for Excel 2007 or 2010 ASAP.
Like an entry-level course at Coursera where you get instructions on what to do and there are ready-made files to follow along with...

Not exactly "follow-along" files like those Coursera courses, but tutorials and examples might do the trick. Honestly, whether it's Excel 2003, 2007, or 2010, it's basically the same thing—just different menu layouts. The core logic and how functions work hasn't changed.

- Excel 2003 for beginners
- All Excel 2003 functions with examples
- Commonly used Excel formula examples
- Various Excel examples
- Excel practice tasks for MOS certification
- Various Excel 2007 examples

If she tries to read all that, she'll be busy for a year. 😉
Taylor Parker5 said:The only thing I can't figure out is how to insert a right vertical border (like a line) that stays exactly 30 mm from the right margin.

Did you check the file I uploaded? It uses a two-cell table to fix the issue.
Here’s a downloadable file using 2 x TextBox (the Word 2003 Text Box tool) and you can grab this one for Word 2007. Didn't mess with the dimensions on that one.
Kyle Murphy45 said:Doing some technical drawing homework for school and I need to make a border in Word.

If you're trying to mess with margins in Word, check these links: margins in Word 2003 and margins in Word 2007
Also, don't forget to tweak your grid settings—set them to about 0.02 inches. You could just drag a two-cell table to fill the page, or better yet, just drop in a couple of TextBoxes in Word to get the look you want, then group them together as one object.

1 . . . . . no color
2 X . . . . red
3 X X . . . yellow
4 X X X . . orange
5 X X X X green

If Walter Jackson48's idea doesn't do it for you, try this instead:
- Highlight the cells in range E1 : E5
- Fire up Conditional Formatting and set up 5 rules using these formulas (check the second to last pic in the link)

no color format => =IF(AND(A1="";B1="";C1="";D1="");TRUE;FALSE) (you can probably just skip this one)
red format => =IF(AND(A1<>"";B1="";C1="";D1="");TRUE;FALSE)
yellow format => =IF(AND(A1<>"";B1<>"";C1="";D1="");TRUE;FALSE)
orange format => =IF(AND(A1<>"";B1<>"";C1<>"";D1="");TRUE;FALSE)
green format => =IF(AND(A1<>"";B1<>"";C1<>"";D1<>"");TRUE;FALSE)

Assuming you're filling out the rows in order like you mentioned.

Honestly, wasn't sure if you'd catch my drift in my last post since I just whipped that tutorial together real quick. Anyway, if you want to dive deep into NUMBERING in Word, check this link—it's got plenty of stuff on it.

Look, let's not play psychic here. Just drop an example with some dummy data for us to download.
Taylor Parker5 said:but I'm not sure if I should go for the Advance level once I finish this. I don't know if small businesses even care about that kind of extra knowledge.

Does anyone else actually care about getting an ECDL? Speaking from experience, I knocked out the Start and Advance packages, but honestly? It didn't do squat for me. If you do decide to tackle the Advance stuff, maybe I can help you out with some Excel tasks for ECDL.
Maybe you'll have better luck 🙂
