If I actually had a life, I probably wouldn't be spending so much 😁
Paul Wilson16 said:would be a huge help.

Man, it’d be way easier if you actually uploaded a sample file for download instead of just some screenshot.
And maybe show what like ten rows of actual data should look like.

Here's a workaround while you wait for someone to whip up some VBA for you. 😉
Uses a bunch of Excel functions here (CONCATENATE, FIND, LEN, LEFT, SUBSTITUTE, SEARCH etc..)

The formulas are:

D2: =CONCATENATE("+";LEFT(B2;FIND(" ";B2)-1);" +";RIGHT(B2;LEN(B2)-FIND("*";SUBSTITUTE(B2;" ";"*";LEN(B2)-LEN(SUBSTITUTE(B2;" ";"")))));C2)

D3: =CONCATENATE("+";LEFT(B3;FIND(" ";B3)-1);" +";RIGHT(B3;LEN(B3)-FIND("*";SUBSTITUTE(B3;" ";"*";LEN(B3)-LEN(SUBSTITUTE(B3;" ";"")))));" ";C3)

D4: =CONCATENATE("+";LEFT(B4;FIND(" ";B4)-1);" +";RIGHT(B4;LEN(B4)-FIND("*";SUBSTITUTE(B4;" ";"*";LEN(B4)-LEN(SUBSTITUTE(B4;" ";"")))));" ";C4)

D5: =CONCATENATE("+";LEFT(B5;FIND(" ";B5)-1);" +";RIGHT(B5;LEN(B5)-FIND("*";SUBSTITUTE(B5;" ";"*";LEN(B5)-LEN(SUBSTITUTE(B5;" ";"")))));" ";C5)

D6: =CONCATENATE("+";LEFT(B6;FIND(" ";B6)-1);" +";RIGHT(B6;LEN(B6)-FIND("*";SUBSTITUTE(B6;" ";"*";LEN(B6)-LEN(SUBSTITUTE(B6;" ";"")))));" ";C6)

D7: =CONCATENATE(B7;" ";C7)

D8: =CONCATENATE(B8;" ";C8)

D9: =CONCATENATE(RIGHT(B9;LEN(B9)-SEARCH(" ";B9)) & " " & LEFT(B9;SEARCH(" ";B9)-1);" ";C9)

D10: =CONCATENATE(RIGHT(B10;LEN(B10)-SEARCH(" ";B10)) & " " & LEFT(B10;SEARCH(" ";B10)-1);" ";C10)

So basically this is one group—just select the block in column D and paste it group by group, one right after the other.

You can skip column C entirely if you just hardcode the name (like taxi/transfer) directly into the formula for every item from column C.
If you want to blast this whole group down through 1,000 more rows, follow these instructions on copying cells or go even faster with copying tens of thousands of rows. Just grab the D2:D10 range and copy.

It's not that specific version, but these tutorials should at least walk you through the basics step-by-step.

- making address labels in Word
- how to create a new label
- creating labels in Word 2003
silvergull10 said:You missed the point because you were too hung up on the example,

so quit stalling and show us what you actually did?
here’s one I just made up

- Adding text to an existing cell and capitalizing the first letter
silvergull10 said:1. I want to change El Paso City Street to El Paso City Street.
2. Does anyone know a site with a list of those macro commands or VBA codes?
3. Is there a way to add words to an entire column? Like, if I have Mainz City, El Paso City, -- and I want to put "Street" in front of them so it reads Mainz City Street, El Paso City Street. Same thing for adding stuff to the end of a cell, like Heinzelov, Frankopanski------>Frankopanski Street, Heinzelov Street.

You should've uploaded the file for us to download. Gotta see what you've actually done and how much effort you put in—basically seeing if you're even on the right track since you're already messing around with some Excel functions.

1. Try using LEFT, MID, and so on... basically build a nested formula.

2. You can find a quick rundown on macros at this link, and VBA for Excel is also covered in this beginner guide
.
3. To merge text, just use the CONCATENATE function.
Paul Gomez90 said:Anyone know the shortcut for the American version, or is there some other way to pull this off?

Try ALT+D+P+P. Works fine for me on Excel 2007
wiredgull80 said:Inserting page numbers in Microsoft Word 2013.

This has been answered a million times already, but here's this link for the umpteenth time. Just start the numbering from page 3.

- Numbering starting from the third page in Word
- Using sections for numbering in Word

slybadger3 said:Can you just copy Microsoft Office from one PC to another?

Nope. You need the actual Microsoft Office installer (and obviously, better have a legal version so you don't run into headaches later).

Here you go.

restlessheron19 said:Not like this:
123 / 456 / 789

Like this instead:
123/456/789

Just save the file as a CSV (Comma Delimited)
Open it up in Notepad
You'll see what you're dealing with: 123;/;456;/;789
Hit CTRL+H
Type ; into the Find What field:
hit Replace All

If there's text in some cells with spaces like that, just kill those too.
Takes like two seconds.

Or just use the CONCATENATE function in Excel in one of the columns, or use a formula like =A1&B1&C1&D1&E1
If you still have weird spaces, try the formula =SUBSTITUTE(G1;" ";"") if G1 has your concatenate formula
So yeah, you can totally do it right inside Excel
wearyfalcon11 said:Can I actually get my document back without everything being totally trashed?

Scour your entire C: drive—basically wherever Windows dumps its temporary files
like: Word ~$filename.docx or ~filename.doc or ~filename.tmp (something along those lines)
If you’re using Total Commander, just type in ~* instead of a specific name and it'll hunt down everything hidden starting with a tilde. These are usually just hidden files (Hide)

- obviously this only works if you actually have auto-recover turned on,
so check the timestamp on that temp file to see if it's even worth your time.
Ronald Allen47 said:Does anyone know where I need to go or what I gotta change to get these links working again?

Your colleague linked this file to some source files, so it's pulling data from there. If you're missing one of those files, you're stuck.
Check the formulas to see exactly which files we're talking about.
Hit the edit link if the update doesn't work. Just set a new path to the source files.

My bad
Dropped some VBA code into the tutorial, go ahead and use it.

- how to change text color from yellow to green in dozens of documents using VBA
Donna Vaughn34 said:and I need to change the font color in specific parts across all of them.

Not exactly much info there. Just Google "Find / Replace with VBA" or "Modify text via VBA"
Here’s a quick example of how you can use VBA to swap out text colors for anything using a specific style across multiple files in one go. The actual text changes, but the color and style stay consistent.

- Changing a specific style's color across multiple docs in the same folder
Alex Thomas41 said:He wants page numbering in Word 2010 to start at 1 from the 9th page, plus have some custom text sitting in the header...

Look, we've already talked enough about page numbering in Word—whether you want it starting on page three, four, or nine, it doesn't matter, we've covered it.
Bottom line: you gotta use section breaks. One section keeps its own formatting and page numbering per section. Same goes for double page numbering by section.
Kenneth Torres67 said:Yeah, I saw that,

Look, I think you saw it, but you clearly didn't read closely enough or check out the links provided.
You should probably hit up this page. Just click on "+Show all".
If you actually take the time to read, everything will make sense regarding what you have installed—but first things first, you gotta have a legal license for Office 2007.
steelbison6 said:So, for someone who isn't exactly an economist—how do I write a command so that if the database has 1, 10, and 100, it wipes out the sum of 1 and 10 and just leaves the 100 sitting there?

😕 Wanna kill off numbers 1 and 10? Just hit Find/Replace. Simple.

Kyle Johnson2 Kyle Johnson2 said:How do I set every slide to just run for 5 seconds?

You didn't even say which version of PowerPoint you're using. presentation I don't think these links or instructions should give you any trouble with what you're dealing with. Check these out.

- Setting slide duration.
- Self-running presentations. Seriously.

Joseph Fisher2 said:The issue is this 013 keeps importing without the leading zero (and I definitely need that zero 😁)

You could've just shared an example of what's happening. Honestly, custom format fixes that whole leading zero display issue.
Custom => 0000 (just type as many zeros as you want)
Jacob Scott4 said:Can someone explain how to make that shortcut again? I want my logo to pop in automatically when I hit CTRL+2. Thanks

Looks like you lost your Normal.dot settings from your old version of Office, so it's acting up now.
You gotta record a new macro and set CTRL+2 as the shortcut

Open a blank doc, then go to Tab View > Macros > Record Macro
Hit the Keyboard icon immediately—it’ll land you right in the "Press new shortcut key:" box. Just hit CTRL and 2 (btw: check the second pic in that link above)
And obviously, while you're recording the shortcut, make sure you save it to Normal.dotm
(In the Customize keyboard window => Save changes in: Normal)

Now, head over to Insert, find your logo, and drop it in
Go back to Tab View > Macros > Stop Recording

In the end, it should look something like this
code : Sub Macro1()
Sub Macro1()
'Macro1
'
Selection.InlineShapes.AddPicture FileName:= _
"C:\Users\YourAccount\Pictures\logo.jpg", _
LinkToFile:=False, SaveWithDocument:=True
End Sub

Just keep in mind, your logo always needs to be in that exact same folder/pathway
Hope this helps ya out
Mark Ortiz44 said:I know it sounds like a massive pain to explain, but I'm curious... how do I actually pull this off?

You could've just sketched out which row to set.
Maybe mess around in Excel if you can make it work for this, since you didn't say what happens after you do that.
What's even the point of these little blocks anyway?
