Burst veins/Broken capillaries

I can't seem to search this subforum, so I’m hoping the mods can move this if there's already a thread on it. Basically, thanks to my genetics and my job, I've always dealt with swollen legs, varicose veins, and the occasional broken capillary. Lately, though, the surface veins have become much more prominent, and one actually burst today. It hurt like hell at first, even though nothing was visible, but then a vein surfaced after a few hours and just popped within an hour. Now there's this blue bruise running along the vein, though thankfully the pain has subsided a bit. It feels pretty hard right now, so I'm using some heparin cream. I was wondering if anyone else has gone through this? What worked for you, and how do you prevent this from happening again? 🤔
