Can someone please give me a hand here? I’m dying to jump into the discussions and actually start my own thread, but for some reason, I just can't seem to get it working...
I’m sticking with my Yahoo account! Honestly, if I really have to prove myself, I’ll just step up to that new moment of truth quiz. 😁
I decided to start fresh with a new account because my current username is honestly pretty terrible.

The thing is, even after I finished signing up, nothing showed up in my inbox. I did a little digging and figured out that if your confirmation email doesn't arrive, you’re supposed to submit a registration request. So, I went ahead and did that yesterday right around midnight. It’s been twelve hours now, and still absolutely nothing...

What am I supposed to do at this point?😕

Gary Bailey48 said:I don't recall it working quite like that; an officer back then was what we call a commissioned officer in the US Armed Forces today, and they had NCOs who functioned similarly to our modern non-commissioned officers. As for a commander, they were actually the commanding officer...

ID cards
passport
FBI (formerly the state accounting office, basically what you'd call the IRS or Treasury today)
OUR
background checks
intelligence screening (I think those might still exist, who knows... mine used to be constantly flagged!) 😁
cheap shaving cream (only the girls from back in the day—well, ladies now—would remember that stuff😉)
the restroom
funeral
enlistment
disco clubs, and speaking of which, the cheap booze

honestly, who can even keep track of all these memories...

Spot on, you hit the nail right on the head! 🤣

Wait, wasn't the term used in the Mexican version "acquisition"?

Alright, let’s play a game. Throw out some old-school slang from the old days. It doesn't even have to be strictly regional; just something that used to be standard back then but feels totally outdated now. Nobody ever bothered to argue over whether it was an Americanism or just how people talked—it was just the way things were said.
It actually cracks me up whenever my grandparents drop one of those vintage terms; it's like a sudden, blunt reminder of how much everything has shifted since they were young. 🤣

barfly - bartender

Just hit up the directory over at www.profightstore.com.

As for Muay Thai, I have a pretty good idea of what that entails...
But Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu? Honestly, I'm curious about what kind of style that actually is...

but if you're strictly looking for self-defense, you should probably look into Krav Maga... I think a new club is opening up around these parts soon, maybe near the State Fair (there's a thread on this already, so just search for it)... though if you just want some recreation paired with a skill, check out Martial Arts at University... there you go. 😉

Muay Thai—that sounds familiar, but what is it exactly? Since it's with Cikatić, I'm assuming it's a stand-up style thing.
As for Krav Maga—honestly, that's my first time hearing about it... can anyone give me the lowdown?
And Aikido? Never heard of that one either. 🙄

I’ve finally realized I need to actually start doing something productive with my life. I already ruled out the gym because I know myself well enough to know I won't force myself to go there. I did some rowing back in high school for about three years, but honestly, it just wasn't my thing.
So, here's the deal: I think I'd be much better off picking up a martial art, but I am completely lost. There are a thousand different styles out there, and I have zero clue where to begin.
Basically, I’m looking for some solid advice on what would suit me best.
To give you some context, I'm 24 years old, 180cm, and 68kg. I’ve got a light frame, I guess—people usually estimate me at around 75kg if they look at me. That said, I've always been pretty sturdy; I can handle intense physical exertion for a long time without breaking a sweat, way above average really. My explosive strength was also slightly above par. I'm pretty coordinated too... but who knows, I don't really understand what factors should actually drive this decision.
My goal isn't necessarily to get huge or anything; I just want to get firm. I don't need to change how I look, I just want to feel solid, like I'm made of stone.
And of course, it would be good to know how to defend myself—God forbid I ever have to deal with some idiot on a subway or out on the street.

Oh, one more thing: I don't always have a car, so if anyone knows of any decent spots, let me know. 😁 I'm looking for something within a reasonable radius of Central Park, 🙂 assuming I'm starting from there.

tenks, honestly, both of them were absolute lifesavers for me!👍

I’m not entirely sure if posting this here is the right move for my health, but let's hope so.
Anyway, I’ve been hitting the workouts at home and everything is going great, except for one major headache: I have absolutely no clue how to train legs without making things worse. I tried incorporating squats into my routine, but I kept getting these sharp, nagging pains in my knees that just wouldn't quit, so I eventually had to throw the whole idea out the window. Does anyone have any decent suggestions or alternative exercises that won't wreck my joints?
Hair loss help? in Health ·
I’m honestly freaking out a little here. I think I might actually be starting to go bald.
I’ve always kept my hair buzzed really short, but recently I decided to switch things up, let it grow out to maybe an inch or so, and start using a bit of gel to style it.
Ever since I made that change, I’ve started noticing hair clogging up the drain after I shower. And it’s not just some random stray hairs; it feels significant. It definitely wasn't happening before.
The big question on my mind is whether I was just blind to it before because my hair was tiny—like, barely a few millimeters long—or if I am genuinely losing it. My wife tells me this kind of shedding is totally normal during the fall, but honestly, that sounds like a total cop-out to me.
To make matters worse, my buddies are telling me that my hair is looking seriously thin on top. Is it possible that it was always like this, and I just couldn't tell because it was too short and I wasn't giving it that "wet look" with the gel?
If I really am going bald, what’s the move? I’m way too young to just sit here and accept this fate. Is there any actual way to jumpstart hair growth? Thanks.
