Soccer Club Kits, Vol. 1 in Soccer ·
It was either Cibalia against Dinamo Chicago or maybe Belupo—I can’t quite recall—last year. They showed up wearing a total mess of primary and reserve kits. Light blue jerseys, black shorts, red socks, and one guy even had bright yellow cleats on. It was absolutely ridiculous. If anyone has a photo, please post it 🙂

Jessica Sanders89 said:Everyone keeps complaining about folk music, yet I can't name two decent folk artists—and that’s being generous if we're talking about some low-budget anthem like "America is Damned." I have no idea where this stuff is even played. What is it? Who sings it? I live in New York City, and frankly, it feels like the only place you'd encounter it is down on some specific outskirts. I’ve never been suffocated by folk music; whenever I go out, I never hear it on stations like KROQ, WXPN, NPR, or any of the local FM outlets. It’s like they don't even exist. I don't get why everyone is so bitter about folk when you can easily avoid it. It isn't some unavoidable cultural phenomenon like knowing who Bob Dylan is or what happened with the last President. In my view, folk might exist somewhere, but it’s not the plague people make it out to be based on these posts.

As far as I'm concerned, let people listen to whatever they want. But if people are listening to it as much as you all claim, that says something about the American music scene. When you're constantly served nothing but mediocre acts like some generic pop starlet or a guy singing about how quiet his suburban street is, it’s no wonder people turn to lower impulses.

My impression is that in America, people mostly listen to pop—specifically trendy pop. There's no real quality control; it's just whatever is being imported from overseas, mostly via UK playlists (if that weren't the case, some idiot would actually be going to see Mus), and that kind of pop is distributed heavily through mainstream radio. You hear it in every shop and coffee house.

KROQ is 90% garbage, though the rest is fine. You’ve confused American hip trends with Britney Spears-style pop, those boy bands, and other Brit-pop rock nonsense. Mus is the exception among indie bands because their popularity forced them onto that cursed MTV, effectively making them part of the mainstream... And as for the music itself—don't compare it to what you hear at the mall; those are two different worlds.
There has been great music in New York lately—The National, Morrissey, Sonic Youth, Mogwai, Mus, Pixies... none of them drew the crowds that THHHompson draws at a stadium or a local dive bar on the weekend.

Is music dying? in Music ·
umbrella, aaaaa, ella, ella, ella....🤣
There’s an absolute mountain of great music out there; you just have to know where to dig. In America, we mostly just mimic whatever trends are blowing up in Mexico or Canada—we import their sounds, fill our dive bars with them, and keep the pop radio spinning... It’s a trap for kids who haven't actually developed any musical taste yet and can't hear anything besides the garbage being shoved down their throats from every direction. Then, you see a world-famous band roll into a major US hub like New York City and pack 2,500 people into a venue👎 and half that crowd didn't even travel from the city itself. Meanwhile, some local political anthem rocker fills a massive stadium like MetLife😲 and that tells you everything you need to know about the current state of our music scene. Music isn't going to die, it's just becoming increasingly mediocre.
