From what I gather, the Italians rock blue because it was the color of their kings... similarly, the Dutch use orange since that’s the royal house color... I'm pretty sure about those two, and I suspect there's a similar story behind why the Spaniards added blue to their kits (though I haven't really dug deep into that one)
Remember that theory floating around a few years back? People were claiming that every single new collection—including the current one and the last one—was going to feature progressively larger squares. The logic was that if the pattern stayed this tiny, the jersey would just look like a solid pink blur from the nosebleed seats in a stadium. Basically, they thought the whole signature checkered vibe would just disappear

I honestly think they were checking to see if there was a tracking device—because otherwise, why would those house locations even be on the same axis? It makes zero sense. 🤷
edit: hey, just a heads-up—maybe toss a spoiler warning in there next time you're talking about specific plot points? Like that whole situation with Jasper and the bag... I've already seen the movie, so no biggie for me, but someone scrolling through this thread who hasn't watched it yet might be pretty pissed if you ruin a major twist like that. Just a thought.

I am absolutely loving this jersey. It’s simple, it’s classic—it’s basically what Nike used to do before they went totally off the rails with all those lightning bolts, snakes, and random patterns. This clean style is clearly where they shine. Plus, if you ask me, this is one of the biggest middle fingers to Adidas in recent memory. I mean, when you consider that France, along with Germany, Spain, and Bayern Munich, are basically the most loyal heavyweights Adidas has in their pocket, this hurts. They aren't going to lose Germany or Bayern anytime soon, but this move definitely gives them enough leverage to potentially snatch up another giant like Real Madrid, AC Milan, Chelsea FC, or Liverpool FC.
By the way, the deal is signed for seven years... for a cool $320,000,000.00.😁
The absolute peak of stupidity was watching the club's top brass and the owner basically playing dumb—acting like they had no clue why the jersey design was such a massive issue. I mean, come on... if you're actually going to push some extremist symbolism, at least have the guts to own it. Just say, "Yeah, we want the Confederacy flag and the Southern Cross on the kit," instead of acting all innocent and clueless 🤦
And here we go again with the whole Civil War rhetoric 😁
If I remember correctly, the league "suspended" that jersey—there was some huge controversy over the sponsor or whatever... so following that logic, I highly doubt you could just pick one up at a local shop. You’d probably have to check a newspaper or look online
If you ask me, these kits are pretty rough—especially that blue one... I mean, why have three different sizes of squares on a single jersey? You've got the blue transparent ones, the red-and-white vertical stripes, and then the little squares in the crest. It's just overkill.🤦 The home kit might actually pass if they hadn't added that weird blue bit under the armpits. Totally unnecessary, right?
mellowowl38 said:There’s no way it’ll look like that again. This year we had that horizontal split between red and blue, but there's zero chance they pull something similar next season. Honestly, I wouldn't even be surprised if they don't bother changing the away kit at all.
Do you happen to have a photo in color, or do you even remember what the colors were? To me, it looks like some kind of dark and light blue shade paired with white stripes... I honestly can't place this jersey at all. 🤷 😁
By the way, does anyone else happen to know which years these two jerseys are actually from?
Oh yeah, I was just thinking about the kit suppliers back in the nineties... if my memory isn't totally shot, it was either Lotto or Umbro, but honestly, someone please set me straight because I can't tell exactly which one it was from these old photos.
The '95/'96, '96/'97, and '97/'98 seasons were definitely Lotto—you can see it on the training gear, plus those huge Lotto logos on the gear bags sitting on the grass next to them. For '98/'99, if my memory serves, I think it switched over to Umbro, but looking at this photo, it’s hard to say for sure.
Alex Myers98 said:Look, I get it, man, but that doesn't mean they'll be finished tomorrow. They probably already have the blueprint for how the national team kits will look—they just drop them a year or two later. Look, I'm not saying this is 100% set in stone; anything can change in a year, but that's how it looks for now. She said she saw them and they're garbage. I wouldn't lie about that—I've known her almost since birth.😁
As for Dinamo Chicago, Nike is alright too. Either way, it beats those hideous Diadora disasters.
Maybe they look like trash to her, but you or I might actually love them... My point is, we shouldn't make a huge deal out of this yet—especially if all she's seen are just preliminary sketches.
Nike has put out some really sharp club kits this season, so I don't mind if they end up in the mix instead of Puma... though, if I'm being honest, I still think Puma has the edge. I was reading on a news site earlier where Puma reps mentioned they're getting close to a deal with Dinamo Chicago (though nothing is signed in stone just yet).

Man, I totally assumed you meant everyone... but hey, I can't complain—it's actually pretty great seeing a jersey with more sponsors than the LA Galaxy's
