Unfortunately, all I’ve got is some old Electro Pioneer and Trainspotting, and they're both on cassette (ugh, gross)...
Their best track has to be Unknown, I absolutely love it! 🙂

I watched the remake first, and despite (or maybe because of) that slow, methodical, moody "2001: A Space Odyssey" vibe, I actually liked it. It’s not a masterpiece, but it has a coherent structure—beginning, middle, and end—and it’s visually stunning... blah blah blah.
Now, since I have this deep-seated aversion to American remakes, I was really hoping I could tear into George Clooney and "his famous backside" once I finally sat down with the original Solaris.
I wish.
The original version is as tedious as a bout of food poisoning; watching it was honestly painful. It’s packed with unnecessary scenes and lacks the element of surprise found in the remake because everything is laid out immediately (that bit about the ocean being like a "brain"), which makes you wonder why you're even bothering to watch.
(Okay, that doesn't hold up if you've read the book, because then you already know everything anyway.)

I'll just sit back and brace myself for the inevitable wave of criticism claiming I'm too dim-witted to grasp the sheer genius of Tarkovsky and his Solaris. 😁

Hey everyone, how’s it going!

I’ve watched this thing twice in the last 24 hours and honestly, I’d do it again in a heartbeat.
That black-and-white "minimalist" look feels a little indie at times... the acting is top-tier though... the soundtrack is absolutely phenomenal (can someone please drop the link to the score? pleeeease)... and that frantic, handheld camera work during the outbursts and paranoid episodes is just brilliant. The pacing stays tight from start to finish too.

Man, I love it!
It’s everything from one of the most intense, high-octane peaks I’ve ever seen to one of those endings that leaves you wide open to interpretation...

I was scrolling through SLO1 again today and stumbled upon this old American comedy from '98 called Buy Me Eliot. Honestly, the movie itself isn't anything groundbreaking, but man, there are some lines in there that are just pure gold...

For instance, there's this scene where a guy wakes up in some dimly lit cell, looks at the guy sitting next to him, and goes:
"Man, why are you obsessing over that zit so much?!"
Then he stands up, takes a second look at the guy, and realizes he’s actually dead—with a massive bullet hole right in his forehead! 😁

The lead (played by Damon Bjelogrlić, who sports this platinum blonde, mid-length hair) is this criminal who happens to be obsessed with opera and Al Capone. He’s also got this weird quirk where he ends every single phone call by just saying, "Done!" and slamming the receiver down. 😁

I stumbled upon this movie on TV today and it got me thinking—has anyone else seen it?
It’s some wild, hilarious indie flick from over in the Midwest. Honestly, I haven't laughed that hard at a movie in ages. There’s this one woman with a cork stuck to her forehead—absolute madness! 😁
My only regret is that I missed the first half, so I didn't get the full experience... though the ending was pretty bizarre; the sweeping scenery and that narrator's voice totally reminded me of an old episode of *The West Wing*.
Anyway, what do you guys think? Is it worth sitting through the whole thing?

I'm totally with you—that ending was a mess. They really shouldn't have shown him waking up like that; it felt way too much like some cliché scene from the Wizard of Oz with Dorothy waking up. 🙂

Then again, if I remember correctly, the script was based on a book, so maybe that's why (meaning the book probably has a pretty lousy ending too, haha).
