Finally got it working, after what felt like ten different .NET Framework downloads and a constant stream of error messages...🎉

I switched up my download path. Instead of using Documents, I pointed it straight to Downloads. Got the installer running, but then I hit this wall at the end:

I downloaded it, but it just says PART FILE and the icon looks broken—you know, like those dead files that won't actually run.

I only noticed this because I was trying to start a thread about how I can't run any programs I grab from the web. It keeps throwing some error at me—something about a "dll" or whatever—but I can't even get a screenshot because of this first issue.
Someone here probably told me before that I need to clean up This PC or something, but I can't find the old post since the search bar seems to be gone.
Anyway, I fixed the first thing, but now I'm stuck with both of these.

My guess? This second mess is happening because my drivers are a wreck. When I set up macOS, the automatic updates failed, so I had to do everything manually, and clearly, I missed a few.

So, I managed to grab the one PDF reader I actually need, but this other software is being a total pain. It keeps throwing an error at me...

Empty your Recycle Bin, delete everything you don't need, run a chkdsk, and defrag the drive...

I started a thread about this a while back. Someone tried to help me out, but we didn't quite nail it. Once I got Windows XP up and running, I had to deal with the drivers. Some software couldn't find them online, so some guy jumped on Zoom to fix it for me. Now, though, I've hit a wall. No matter which PDF reader I try to download, the download just hangs before finishing. It's not just PDFs either—half the programs I try to grab won't complete. Can someone take a look and get this sorted?

I just finished installing and converting using CutePDF, but for some reason, I'm hitting the same wall as those online tools. Headings—and sometimes images or captions—keep shifting left or right compared to how they look in Microsoft Word. It’s probably a formatting glitch where the different sizing makes the software misread their positioning.

Whatever. This still saves me a massive headache because it's faster than uploading everything to a website. I'll just manually fix the headings until they sit right. It'll take some effort, but it beats the online route any day.

So, I’ve been messing around with various online converters to turn my Microsoft Word docs with images into Adobe PDF, but they keep tripping over themselves. Everything gets messed up—an image or header centered on the page suddenly jumps to the left or right, or text I specifically padded away from the top margin gets shoved right back to the edge. How do I fix this?

I tried downloading some EPUB readers too, but they just throw errors at me about needing to install other software or whatever.

Tried using those online PDF editors, but honestly, I have no clue what I'm doing with them. I can't even find basic stuff like editing text or moving images, which is exactly what an editor is supposed to do, right?

It's the same story with every single conversion tool. It looks fine in Microsoft Word, then everything shifts once it's converted. Is Microsoft Word broken? Would installing a fresh version of Microsoft Word actually solve this?
I noticed the first few pages usually come out fine. Maybe if I chop the document into ten smaller pieces, convert them one by one, and then stitch them back together later, it might work?

Yeah, I fired it back up after opening it—made sure everything was shut down before plugging it in—and unlike before, now that the case is open, it’s not just a black screen. It's making this weird noise too...

If you hold that release lever on top of the case, just nudge the page slightly until it clicks free. Don't force it; it should move with almost zero effort.

He finally pulled it off. He ended up snapping a small plastic piece in the process, though honestly, I don't even need that part anymore.

I caught a glimpse of this part sticking out before I even got the case fully open. I gave it a little tug and just ripped it right out.

Got another headache here. I'm working with a Dell chassis, and the thing is practically a vault. I've already stripped every single screw, but nothing. I can pry the top open just a hair, but if I push any harder, I’m definitely going to snap the casing. On the bottom, there's this plastic base where everything is just slotted together so tightly it won't budge. Unless I want to rip through all the plastic trim running along the edges just to get inside, I'm stuck.😵

Yeah, you mean that cable with the plastic thumbscrews on the sides to lock it in.
