I could list plenty of great films that I personally can't stand because they just aren't my style or didn't resonate with me. Take a movie like *The Godfather*, for example. You can't argue that it isn't a masterpiece, yet I didn't enjoy it—I can't quite put my finger on why. On the flip side, an average flick might click with me perfectly for reasons even I don't fully grasp.
In my opinion, Lost in translation is just an average film. Honestly, I don't even particularly like it.
😕
So, what are these inexplicable reasons that allow you to intuitively connect with a film even when it isn't to your taste?😕 It certainly isn't frame composition or any other pedantic, technical "cinema as high art" metric. Those usually feel like pretentious nonsense to anyone who is already beyond needing such validation.😕

Is it really so bad that it becomes good? I actually enjoyed it.😍

Being John Malkovich in Thailand:
"Western film titles are sometimes altered when further explanation is necessary for a local audience. In this case, the film "Being John Malkovich" was marketed using a much more descriptive English subtitle: "oh my god! Sucked into Someone's Brain!"
Copied from... somewhere, I suppose 😕
"set in a 19th century European village, this stop-motion animated feature follows the story of Victor (Johnny Depp), a young man who is whisked away to the underworld and wed to a mysterious Corpse Bride (Helena Bonham-Carter), while his real bride, Victoria (Emily Watson), waits bereft in the land of the living. Though life in the land of the dead proves to be a lot more colorful than his strict Victorian upbringing, Victor learns that there is nothing in this world, or the next, that can keep him away from his one true love.."
