I could barely afford to eat for the next two months, and honestly, things are still tight)
So you guys are fans of R.E.M.—one of the biggest bands on the planet—yet the Red Hot Chili Peppers have more pull, which seems to bother you because you still think R.E.M. is superior...

😕 😕 😕 I honestly don't follow the logic here... R.E.M. fans versus Peppers fans—what, are we supposed to wear uniforms? I enjoy listening to both the Red Hot Chili Peppers and R.E.M. just as much, and I've seen both live—but my point was simply that the 'Peppers' are currently branded as the 'ultimate rock band,' arguably much harder-hitting than R.E.M., though that perception kind of evaporates when you see them in person... their set feels almost like a lullaby compared to an R.E.M. show. The bottom line is they are incredible live, so even if you aren't a die-hard fan, you should go. They're worth every cent...
Heard they might be coming through... Saw them in Padua last year—they’re incredible... you can tell they actually enjoy playing together, and Steve just never stops, creating such a great vibe... honestly, they blew Peppers out of the water by ten classes. Even if you aren't a huge fan, they're definitely worth seeing
Weiland actually earned some praise from his counselor for staying on track during the last six months at rehab—he’s even been cleared for travel outside the USA. He’s already halfway across Europe, and looks like he'll be hitting Austria by the end of the month... Check out their website—it’s an absolute disaster... they have old concert footage up there. Weiland looks like some sort of disheveled, chain-smoking villain... honestly, I spent half an hour laughing; it's hard not to stare...

Heh... I’ve always been a huge Stone Temple Pilots fan—I’m such a devotee of Scott Weiland that one of my girlfriends once teased me about having a bit of a crush on him 😁. To me, he was just this wild, untamed kid... loved playing the rebel, but honestly, he’s the only singer I’ll admit actually had real presence. Even when the lyrics were a bit hit-or-miss, he made up for it with pure honesty and raw energy in his vocals—it puts him miles ahead of Axl...

Not likely... Weiland was far superior to Cornell—though when I think back to Cornell's solo stuff and that 'Can't Change Me' video, it’s just painful. One minute he's a grunge icon, the next he's basically an Italian lounge singer... what a drop...

Regarding s.a.y.'s comment—"Pearl Jam's 'Last Kiss' isn't actually their own song"—that's right. It's just an older track that Eddie really connected with, so he did a studio cover. There are a few other little gems people mistake for original Pearl Jam tracks, mostly covers they play for fun, like: Throw Your arms around me, Soldier of Love, The kids are alright, or Gimme some truth... 😉 THANKS, catch ya later! 🙂 😉
And then there are all those songs the Jam fans love hearing at shows as homages to their idols—things like Growin', Baba O'Riley, Fortunate Son, Know Your Rights, or Rockin' in a Free World...
Anyway, I recall there being a solid documentary on SLO2—one where Geezer Osbourne had quite a bit to say regarding the Melvins' influence. 🙂 The reality is that what we used to call grunge doesn't really fit that label anymore... people will just throw a counterargument at you instantly. So, what actually defines grunge?

1. Mad Season - Wake up (honestly the best... Layne Staley and Mike McCready just absolutely crush it here) 2. Pearl Jam - Yellow Ledbetter (I love that bit in 'Lost Dogs' where McCready mentions the band was playing some melody and Eddie just improvised those lyrics on the fly—it’s still a mystery what they're actually about, but the crowd loves it regardless)
