Where on earth did that goalie come from? What team does he play for? I haven't heard a single thing about him... and honestly, I'm really keeping an eye on Vukic too...
Well, looks like we’re heading out without him... though I still have a hunch he might show up... just as a backup if things go sideways...
Actually, maybe his absence isn't such a bad thing after all... It'll be interesting to see how the group holds up when he's not there to carry everything...
Nothing much... honestly, they can manage just fine without Balić... I mean, even he has to think about retirement eventually... sure, let him focus on getting ready for ZG09...
What are you even trying to say about the goalkeeper??? Isn't it just obvious???
Alright, I’ll give you that—things got pretty intense there... ...
When we play the Canadians with our full roster, the games are always dead even.
And what does "full roster" even mean to you...??? As far as I can remember, we’ve only had a full lineup once, and back then, we absolutely crushed them...
I honestly can't stand people who only see the glass half empty... and you're definitely one of those types...
Yeah, he's out... what can you do? The pain was just too much for him to play... nothing left to say about it...
now they're gonna have to run with that little punk Horvat
Come on man, you don't have to be so harsh... who knows how he'll actually perform? What if he turns out to be the best right winger we've got? What if the kid absolutely shines during EP???
We’ve always played them on even ground, regardless of how the roster looked.
Oh, please, don't start talking nonsense now... we only lost to them once, and that was in Canada during the EP when they dealt Peru an injury... what else was there? More gold... man, I really can't stand people who only focus on the negatives... It’s true that those games against the Canadians were often intense... but that's where Balić would usually step up at the end—or rather, where certain individuals would show their class----
And that’s probably exactly how it’ll go this time too...
To be honest, the goalkeepers are what worry me most... who do we actually have? Alilovic... and Jerkovica??? If they hit their stride, we're even stronger... if not, then God help us... honestly, the solution might be calling Solo... because whenever he's needed, he just shows up... and when he shows up, he definitely delivers!!!
By the way, what was that guy Cupic's name again? I want to look him up on youtube.com
We seem to have forgotten about Vukic... he can play pivot too, and sometimes steps in on the wing...
Sure, maybe that’s how it is... but honestly, whenever I hear that Sulic is playing in my lineup, my stomach just does a complete flip... but let's not go down that rabbit hole right now... Coach Miller will figure out which center needs to be on the floor when the time comes... though you have to admit, both of them are absolute beasts at their positions... my old man actually leans toward Sulic... says he’s got that knack for finishing through contact in those tight situations... there's also that
Džomba hasn't been playing at his level all season anyway. Aside from a few fast breaks, his finishing was just pathetic...
I'm with you on that... though I still think Horvat is way too green to be heading to the EP, let alone actually getting meaningful minutes on the court. He just lacks the experience...
As for Ćupić, I haven't really followed his game closely enough to have an opinion... so I guess I'll just hope for the best...
But then again, where was Dzomba before we played Portugal??? Nobody had even heard of him or any of the other guys who ended up bringing home the gold...
So, I should probably walk back what I said about Horvat... if he steps it up, he deserves a spot on the national team, and he deserves it right now.
Before that??? I mean, that was basically the debut for that whole young generation...
I'm right there with you on what you said about the wingers... I agree we’re missing two wings... left and right... but what can you do? It is what it is... we're heading to Eurovision 2008 and all we can really do is hope for the best...
Fair enough... I guess that works... but honestly, how much time does Sulic actually spend playing alongside Balic versus how much time is Vori paired up with Balic? It’s hard to tell...
If you ask me, the chemistry between Balic and Vori just seems to click better...
They’re going to focus way more on defenses that clog up the middle... right where Petar Balić and the rest of the perimeter players operate... Which basically means if the wingers aren't pulling their weight, it makes life miserable for everyone else on the court...
Well, that's just one way of looking at it... look, if the wings are having an off night, the opposing defense is naturally going to lean harder on the guards... which actually leaves more room for the wing players to breathe...
Come on, let's be real, they aren't so incompetent that they can't sink a goal from a clean look... especially when they're in their natural positions...
I mean, seriously, people don't make it onto the national team for nothing, right?
And please, saying we have a 50-50 shot against the Czechs... give me a break... did you even watch the game against Spain last year? The second unit played basically the whole first half, and what happened? They were down four goals by halftime. Don't feed me that nonsense... even without Balic, these guys have massive opportunities to grab the gold...
I actually think you're mistaken; Sulic and Balic seem to have better chemistry than Balic and Vori.... The truth is, Vori gets way more usable looks than Sulic does... mostly because Balic just intuitively knows Vorijev next move... which isn't quite the case with Sulic...
It's a shame Zrnic isn't out there... that injury really took its toll...
I'll give you this: Dzomba isn't the same player he was three or four years ago... and he's not performing for the US team the way he used to... but I still think Dzomba could be huge for us when it comes to penalty shots... because looking at the roster, we don't exactly have anyone else who's a specialist at the line...
What can I say... looks like we won't have Zrnic on the roster... probably going to be Balic instead... but I'm still holding out hope that we can at least make the finals, if not snag the gold...
Can you tell me which forum this is? Honestly, man, I'm over in Canada and I don't even have access to NBC, but you guys in America probably have way more info sources than we do here. I really don't get how there's such a lack of knowledge about who's actually going to the EP or not... just drop a link to that forum...
Horvat needs to get moving... I need to get moving too... there's no such thing as "needs to get moving," either it happens or it doesn't... if not, go with Zrnic... he seems like the safest bet... damn, Dzomba will absolutely wreck his career...
But I'm pretty sure that if Cervar plays it smart this time—and I'm confident he will—he'll make enough rotations so that none of the players feel even a hint of fatigue... Lackovic - Valcic; Metlicic - Kopljar...
These guys might actually be onto something... I did a quick search on Google for something like the American handball national team and this popped up...
So they're actually going to play... he didn't even call up Buntica... kind of a shame because the kid is solid in his position... I'm wondering what the deal is with Ball, if he's playing, and if Spreme showed up at all...
The way I see it, we've got this hybrid squad now... a mix of raw talent and veteran experience, just like those legendary teams back in 2001. You had Jovic, Goluza... Lackovic and the newcomers... it's the exact same dynamic we have right now...
The other key to making this work is the depth... Vukovic can step in for Ball quite effectively... maybe not in the exact same style, but close enough... honestly, I think Sulic should probably get the nod when Ball isn't on the floor, mostly because Ball and Vori have that unspoken connection... whereas Sulic doesn't really click with Ball like that...
For instance, Metlicica could cover for Skopljar pretty well... good kid... and for Lackovic, I've got Tony... so we shouldn't be too worried about our defensive backs... Our pivots are probably among the best in the world right now, so with Vori and Sulic leading the charge, there shouldn't be any issues—provided they actually get some decent, usable passes... then it should be smooth sailing...
Not so sure about the right wing though... Horvat... he's inexperienced, doesn't look like much to me yet... but who knows, maybe he'll step up when it counts... And what about Zrnica? He could really help us out... though the more I think about it, maybe it's actually a blessing that Dzomba isn't around... though I might be wrong about that...
Caleb? If he finds his rhythm, every opponent is in for a hell of a time... Lackovic? If he plays like he did three or four years ago, we have absolutely nothing to worry about... he's been our biggest wildcard over the last couple of seasons... when he's off, everyone else struggles, leaving Ball to carry the whole damn load... I'm just hoping it doesn't come down to that this time...
I forgot about Vukic... but whatever, let's go for... for... for GOLDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD...
So, looks like we won't have Zrnic on the roster... man, that right wing is going to be a massive headache for us... as far as the other spots go, there’s plenty of solid depth, and honestly, that might just be our saving grace...
Ballich - Vukovic Metlicic Metlicic - Skopljar Lackovic Lackovic - Valcic Vori - Sulic Vori - Sulic, and don't even get me started... personally, if Ballich isn't in the lineup, I think we have to give Sulic a shot... we all know how well Vori and Ballich click together... whereas Sulic and Ballich aren't quite on the same wavelength...
I can't help but feel like this somewhat mismatched generation of players could actually pull off a championship... theoretically, it's totally within reach...
But what's the deal with Ballich? Is he even playing??? I heard some rumor that he tore his gut or something??? That would be devastating... It's weird that a Bunitca didn't even get a call-up... he's a good guy, but I guess that doesn't matter here... one more thing, does Sprem have him on the list... and who are we looking at for goalkeepers?
So, let me ask you guys—LeBron James is a total question mark right now. Could Vuković step in and fill that gap somehow? I actually kind of like his style... And what’s the deal with Metličić and Lacković? Any real chance we'll see them out on the field this season??? Also, where did Denis Buntić disappear to? Is he even still in the picture, or should we expect him at EP - Norway 2008.? One more thing, though... what's the word on Vlado sola? Has he officially hung up the jersey, or is he just sidelined with an injury...
