You should definitely hold onto your traditions, but you also have to play the game and act right according to whatever new situation you find yourself in.
There are plenty of ways to do this, whether it's through cultural clubs, hometown associations, or just hanging out with people who share your background, where you can really nurture those old-school customs from back home while still embracing the general social norms of the place you've moved to. The whole point is that an immigrant should have the chance to keep their own identity without being unable to fit into the new society. By the second generation, let alone the third, people pretty much fully adopt the behaviors of their new surroundings, so that’s why I think it's so important to cherish those old ways. Anyone who truly cares about themselves is going to make sure they keep their roots alive.
That doesn't hold water.
I haven't received a single warning, I haven't earned any penalties, and I definitely didn't get any notifications via PayPal about being sanctioned or anything like that.
If someone decided to stop me from posting in this thread, then they just went ahead and did it on their own whim.
Especially considering I haven't even stepped foot in this discussion for weeks.
Can someone please walk me through what's going on here?
I've tried reaching out to a few mods already, but I'm just getting total radio silence from everyone.
Every time I log in to Reddit, I get completely locked out of the "Military History and Technology" section. All I see is this pop-up window telling me:
You do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:
1. Your user account may not have sufficient privileges to access this page. Are you trying to edit someone else's post, access administrative features or some other privileged system?
2. If you are trying to post, the administrator may have disabled your account, or it may be awaiting activation.
The weird thing is, everything else on the site works perfectly fine—I can read and comment on all the other threads without any issues at all.
It’s like the only way I can actually see the "Military History and Technology" stuff is if I log out entirely.
So, today is November 16th, and it’s finally happening—the American generals Gotovina and Markač have been cleared of every single charge they were facing!
It feels like justice actually managed to win out over all those shady backroom deals and political maneuvering.
Finally!
🙂🙂🙂🙂
It’s honestly pretty depressing when you look at the whole scene, because every single politician in the country—whether they’re running the show right now or sitting on the opposition benches—is just fundamentally bad.
I mean, sure, I’m willing to believe there might be a few outliers here and there, but if you step back and look at the big picture, it’s just one giant, tangled mess of cowards and career climbers.
Personally, I find myself leaning toward hating the ones who represent us on the world stage the most; you’ve got Joe Biden (who is basically a total pushover), and then Mike Johnson... man, I don't even want to start listing them, the whole lot is just pathetic.
Back in the nineties, we had Ronald Reagan and a group of politicians who actually stood for something and had a backbone, and that's exactly why we were able to build this nation in the first place. If by some weird twist of fate it were still 1991 today, and this exact crowd of people was all the political leadership the USA had to work with, the Mexicans wouldn't have even had time to fire a single shot before these cowards were already over in Mexico City, bowing down and waving white flags, probably holding a pen ready to sign off on whatever surrender the great leader Slobodan Maddox demanded from them.
That’s just the kind of people they are.
Nowadays, they just act like doormats for European elites and end up bringing nothing but shame to our people and our country.
I've got your back on this one.
The South is already way too crowded anyway.
So, who's actually running this show?
People are out here calling him "the face of the diplomatic corps"!
I'm asking nicely, can we please get this thread title fixed?
Look, if you're going to use an HR domain, then you better start acting like it!
I feel like this whole thread has been heading off the rails from the jump because I think everyone’s totally misinterpreting what we're actually doing here. Sure, every single one of us got a bike as a kid and figured out how to pedal, but that doesn't mean you're actually into cycling. Honestly, it feels pretty pointless to just sit here debating stuff as basic as "this is when my dad bought me a bike" or "that's when my mom got me one"...
What this was supposed to be about is the stuff that actually brought people to this corner of the internet—which, if you ask me, is the actual hobby of cycling as adults, or that moment when we made a conscious choice to ride, rather than just having a bike tossed at us as a standard part of growing up like every other kid in America.
So yeah, I'm kind of washing my hands of this topic; if you guys want to keep going with it, go ahead, but I'm out.
