Isn't there a button in the top right corner, where the user data (authorized certificate) and the taxpayer's SSN are displayed? The SSN needs to match the one being submitted.
The application went live on March 4th, 2013. It moved to a new URL—which was posted on the Police Department's site—and I don't think we had to do anything special with the old one, if my memory serves me right. I just clicked the login button and used my IRS ID card certificate to pull up all the Social Security numbers for the people I have power of attorney for. The only thing that tripped me up was what I mentioned in my previous post.
Make sure this isn't anything too obvious. Did you adjust that stylized toggle in the top right corner? The one displaying user info (authorized certificate) and the taxpayer's SSN? I missed it at first because of my screen width. I tried sending the ID, and he said everything looked fine, but then he froze up during the digital signature step—his screen just went blank and those three little boxes popped up. It was only then that I noticed the taxpayer's SSN in the upper right doesn't match the one I'm actually trying to send (since I hold multiple powers of attorney).
I’d probably suggest the same thing. Hang on, maybe unknown will join her—though I don't think they ever have. That would make for some pretty interesting reading. 😍
I don't think it’s about the new form 🙂, it’s more likely that their November forms are still stuck in "processing" status. Something seems to be bottlenecking the system, so the agents can't actually see those pending forms on their dashboard.
The ones I spotted earlier were all accounted for. Unless, I guess, someone was just firing off shots so fast that they vanished before anyone could even blink. 😕
I noticed the same thing a while back, but it’s changed now; it just says they're being processed. I always make sure to check the status and attach the confirmation to the form.
On Friday, my agent at the IRS told me to bring in the last two sales tax forms because she couldn't see them on her screen. Honestly, I'm a bit stressed about this... I have quite a few of these lying around...😵
On the IRS website, whenever I try to check my filing status, it keeps telling me that my returns from November—and even the ones after that—are still being processed. That includes my ID, IDD, and sales tax filings. Is anyone else dealing with this nonsense, or is it just me?

So, let me try asking again: where on earth is this SSN form hiding?? I'm starting to think it's some "external" thing that isn't actually located within Silicon Valley?
@Dubo, it is in Synapse, located within the Honorary module. That said, Mr. Vlad gave you some solid advice. Just handle the tax side of things that way, then go to a bookstore, buy a certificate, handwrite it, and attach it when you file your tax return. 🙂
Jessica Grant56 said:Also, could you tell me—just out of curiosity—what do they call that ID-1 thing over at Silicon Valley? There aren't any extra bonuses there, just standard salaries and sick leave reimbursement.
Yeah, trying to do this via the internet is a bit of a headache; those guys haven't even properly entered the 20th century yet. Long live the steam engine.
If you've only got standard salaries and paid sick leave, the Payroll module covers everything. Your IP info will be on the media you submit electronically to the FBI.
The SSN form is located within the Honorarium module, where all types of income related to secondary earnings and capital gains are calculated. That's also where owner distributions are handled—which is interesting this year because of the $4000 tax-free threshold used to claim refunds via an annual income tax return.
That SSN form basically "fills itself out" by pulling data from existing calculations, provided they've been paid, and can then be submitted to the FBI electronically. If you had taxable distributions to pay out, you'd need the SSN form; otherwise, you don't.
Since word is this might be the last year we have to file these specific forms with the FBI (maybe next year too), it probably doesn't matter much how we get them in this year.
The IP form needs to be on physical media (CD, USB, floppy, whatever—don't go thinking you can just send it over the internet) and the ID-1 form (Honorarium module) should also be on a physical drive.
