Why do some people just cave to peer pressure? in Psychology ·
Being true to yourself requires a level of courage that most people just don't possess.☕ It’s always much easier to just follow the path of least resistance and blend in with the crowd.

Here are a couple of instances from my own life that illustrate this:

1. Someone will go out and buy an incredibly expensive item or book an ultra-luxury vacation, but the moment you ask about the price, they start spinning this narrative about how they got a massive discount and barely spent anything at all. Honestly, what is that even about? 😁

2. An acquaintance of mine stayed in a relationship with a guy who was clearly wrong for her character-wise, simply because she felt she had to, and eventually, they ended up getting married. Now, they fight constantly, but she feels like if she hadn't gone through with the wedding, it would have been seen as some sort of social failure. 🤦
How do you defeat evil and the people behind it? in Psychology ·
I suspect the real issue lies with those people who are just so fundamentally good that they can't even wrap their heads around the idea that bad actors exist, so when someone finally does stab them in the back, they’re left completely shell-shocked 😲

Then, on the flip side, you have the ones who put on this massive act of being saints, when in reality they're just complete garbage who blame everyone else for their own mess 😛

It really comes down to figuring out which camp the author actually falls into 😁

Morgan Bishop4 said:If you were actually as righteous as you claim to be, you’d probably start seeing the silver lining in all these people and situations instead of just focusing on the garbage... And honestly, if you were truly that saintly, you would've already forgiven them for being such selfish, low-character jerks in the first place.
Look, there’s no such thing as purely good or purely evil in this world. Every bad thing usually serves some greater purpose. What feels like a disaster to you might actually be a massive win for someone else—and who knows, maybe it’ll even turn out to be a blessing for you down the road... Take that guy your friend snatched away from you, for example. Like, seriously, why would you even want someone like that in your life? You get rid of a trashy friend and a guy who didn't even care about you... sounds like everyone wins in the end.

I have to say, I don't really see things that way. People can be genuinely malicious, and their actions cause real pain to those they hurt, but shouldn't the author focus on setting better boundaries or just cutting them off entirely?
Why spend all that energy overanalyzing the reasons behind someone's cruelty when you could just move on?😵
Gratitude in Spirituality ·
Jeffrey Fisher5 said:I have been dwelling on the concept of human gratitude for quite some time now—perhaps a bit too long, if I am being honest.
I find myself unable to reach any sort of internal consensus regarding what gratitude actually entails—assuming, of course, we aren't strictly discussing one's devotion to God—and more specifically, how it ought to function within the messy complexities of human relationships.

Is it a matter of mere obligation, a response to social expectations, or something deeper rooted in one's own conscience????

☕

I didn't truly discover the power of gratitude until this year... it's an emotion that genuinely lifts your vibration and shifts your energy, provided that the thankfulness is sincere and comes straight from the heart. From what I've experienced, life really does start to improve once you weave gratitude into the fabric of your daily existence.😉

As far as I know, everything they "tossed out" was basically just the Gnostic Gospels and those random apocrypha.

That stuff didn't even get cut... seriously. 🙂

Just ask for it and believe you already got it. It’s that simple! Mark 11:24. Believe it. Just do it.

Just walk with faith and stop second-guessing everything. If you're constantly wavering, you're just like a damn wave getting tossed around by the ocean. Don't even think about expecting anything from the Lord if you're that indecisive. People with shaky souls who can't pick a lane end up getting nothing. Stop being such a flake! If you’re praying, actually mean it. You can't just flip-flop between wanting God and doubting Him like you're indecisive about where to grab lunch. That kind of double-mindedness is useless—it’s like trying to ride a wave while constantly jumping off the board. Pick a side and stick to it!

Specifically, this author—Gregg Braden

I'm dropping the link again from that other thread... it's a long lecture, though there are shorter versions out there, but since we're on the subject, it covers everything regarding those lost books and the actual mechanics of how to pray.

The core essence wasn't removed, but rather the method of prayer was. The technique. Apparently, simply reciting words isn't enough; you actually have to feel the prayer.

Some scholars make the argument that there are significant gaps within the Bible, suggesting that during the various stages of transcription, certain elements were either intentionally removed or simply left out.
They even go as far as to claim that essential components have been stripped from specific prayers, particularly regarding the actual instructions on how one is supposed to pray.

As I’ve mentioned before, their contention is that we are required to already feel a sense of peace and connection within ourselves if we expect our prayers to be fulfilled or heard.
When I really sit with that thought, it actually makes quite a bit of sense, doesn't it? After all, if we are truly asking for something, shouldn't we already possess the faith that it has already come to pass?

I’ve been spending quite a bit of time reading up on the concept of prayer, specifically through the lens of Eastern spiritual traditions... and there is this fascinating idea that a prayer only truly manifests if the person praying can feel within themselves that their request has already been granted.
If I am interpreting this correctly...

Take, for instance, someone praying for the sun to break through on a gloomy, overcast day. According to this philosophy, the person shouldn't just ask for the sun to appear; rather, they should cultivate that internal sensation of what it will actually feel like once the sunlight finally hits them. They need to visualize that brightness and actually feel its warmth radiating within their own soul.
It also seems to be beneficial to seek forgiveness for one's shortcomings and offer heartfelt gratitude to God for everything we already possess before even beginning to ask for more.

Thanks so much, rapidrider3! 👍

I I have one more question, is it okay if I copy an image from somewhere else as long as it isn't hosted on Photobucket?

Does anyone know how I can set it up so that only the image itself shows up here on the forum?
