How do I upload images?

I’m trying to upload a photo of my dog here—how exactly am I supposed to do that? And does anyone actually know what a "URL" is supposed to be?

Just a few threads after yours—they’re way too long and kinda all over the place this one about uploading pics... 🙄

😕I would really appreciate it if someone could walk me through how to upload a profile picture. Every time I try, I just end up with this annoying little "x" instead.

Are you talking about setting an avatar?
Just click here, hit Search, pick out an image that’s within the 50x50 pixel limit and stays under 9.8 kB, then tap Save changes. It's pretty straightforward once you get the hang of it. 🙂

Why is it that whenever I try to upload a picture—even after I’ve gone through the trouble of resizing it down to 320x240—it just shows up as this tiny little thumbnail sitting inside a frame? It even puts the file size at the bottom! I was really hoping it would just fill up the whole screen instead.

That’s because you’re just using a thumbnail link; I’m assuming it’s coming from Imgur. If you follow how I explained it using Photobucket, it’s a bit more straightforward and tends to load much faster. 🙂

So, you go to that image, right? Just right-click and grab the image location. Then you head over to your new post, find that little yellow icon up top—you know, the one with the mountain and the sun—click that, and just paste it right in there. Boom. And that’s it...
the picture actually shows up on the forum. Simple enough, I guess.

I I have one more question, is it okay if I copy an image from somewhere else as long as it isn't hosted on Photobucket?

If they're coming from the internet, the process is a bit different—at least, that's how I was taught to do it.

I find an image, click it once, then click it again to make sure it's blown up enough if it's huge. There’s a limit, right? Like 640 x 480 max? So, I’ll right-click, go into properties, find the image URL, highlight it—which is always a pain because you have to drag the mouse just right—copy it, head over to the post, hit that yellow mountain icon at the top, paste, and then double-check everything looks right before I actually hit send.
Here, look at this one: I'm putting it in a smaller format since the original is over 700 pixels wide.

^^Don't mention it. Honestly, I learned everything right here from you guys. I used to be the same way—saving every single file to my computer, then trying to upload them to , then blah, blah, blah... only to realize it looked terrible. So I'd start all over. Again. And again. It drove me absolutely insane. I actually reached a point where I was just staring at the screen wondering how on earth any of this was supposed to work.

How do you get two small images to sit side-by-side? Putting one under the other is easy enough, but I'm trying to figure out how to put one on the left and one on the right.

I want them both visible at once. Is there some kind of trick to the link when you paste it, or am I missing something else entirely?

If there is a way to do it, how does it actually work?🙏

You basically just drop the code for the second image immediately after the first one's code on the same line, maybe adding a little space between them if you want. 😉

For example:

Tried that little trick myself, but it just sent everything straight to the bottom. So, I finally tried adding a slash before the new link—you know, once the images are small enough—and hey, it actually worked. Just messing around with it a moment ago. Since I’m a moderator on one of those mid-tier forums, I might as well pick up these cheap little hacks along the way, right?

But yeah, that's me. I don't stop until I figure it out.
