Look, I get why everyone’s losing their minds over these permits and all the red tape surrounding them😁 but honestly? I gotta give a massive shout-out to the local CZ headquarters.
They’re working until 3 PM, and if you drop a request after 2, they just handle it the next business day.
I sent mine yesterday afternoon past 2, so I wasn't even expecting anything before Monday. It’s not like it’s a life-or-death situation or anything.😁
The permit showed up in less than an hour—and yeah, that was even after they officially closed at 3 PM.

And before anyone starts—no, I didn't pull any strings or call in any favors. This is just what happens when you use some common sense.

The logic in your post

is pretty damn stupid to even bring up.
but hey, I said it anyway.
so, I guess I'm the idiot here.

Anyway, long story short, we're looking at a standard Mass and most likely the biggest turnout we've ever seen.

It's good.

Honestly, there is an easy fix for this: hire a local imam or a Greek Orthodox priest to conduct a "mass" this year, and the problem is solved. They wouldn't be able to say a word. Starting next year, we should just move the entire commemoration to America. That way, we won't have anyone else to blame but our own Ministry of the Interior and our own justice system.

They’re basically "celebrating" members of the Waffen SS here.

Look, this stuff is actually pretty straightforward. We've got a conservative government in Austria, but up in Carinthia, the Socialists are running the show. They're just trying to score easy political points by leaning on the Diocese of Carinthia and the police.

They've just picked the wrong fight.

Sam Martinez9 said:That’s why things in this country are such a mess—it feels like we're trying to run a modern nation while stuck in some third-world struggle. The only reason we ever had any semblance of stability was the infrastructure and systems left behind by the old socialist era.

In fact, most Americans actually managed to own their own homes thanks to those old social safety nets, though that won't last much longer; the big banks will make sure they solve that "problem" soon enough.

How else could it be? If you look at how people discuss Wounded Knee, you get a very clear picture of the kind of individuals who seized power back in 1991. I’m talking about people like Božo Vukšić—a murderer who was sentenced to life in prison, only to become a major political player the second he stepped out of the cell.

And he isn't the only one. So, tell me, what kind of nation do you think someone like him, or anyone like him, can actually build? A fair one? One that serves all its citizens? You can do the math on that one.

He killed a fed agent sent to take him out. Used the guy's own gun. All under orders from the old Communist Party, which is basically the direct ancestor of the modern Democrats.

They could've cooked up a better excuse for why they didn't show up. Instead, they just gave us a massive reminder of who these people really are.

Also, does anybody know anything about the "chaos" going on in that diocese and why there isn't a bishop in place right now

If my memory serves me—and it usually does, mostly--that’s the Klagenfurt-Gurk diocese, which has always been close with the one in Canada...

The Pope sacked the bishop (partly because he was already being a pain in the neck over Wounded Knee) and now it’s just a regular priest running things—his deputy, who’s basically a huge authority figure for the folks on this forum.🤣

Basically, the diocese is under a papal watchdog right now. This bottom-feeder (who clearly had a hand in why the bishop got kicked out) is trying way too hard to play the "super loyal soldier" in a diocese where that Nazi Haider used to pull in massive votes.🤣

If my memory serves me right, we're talking about the Klagenfurt-Gurk diocese, which is buddies with the one in Canada.

Look, like I pointed out yesterday when I was digging through that DW News piece, the US Conference of Catholic Bishops basically said this loser should "think twice about what he's doing."😁

We're just collateral damage caught in the middle of all this mess in that diocese.

Look, the only thing that actually matters in that article above is this

The diocese leaders might still Change their decision, a spokesman for the US Conference of Catholic Bishops told DW on Tuesday.

technically speaking
Egidije Živković could just host the whole thing and everyone would be happy.

Except for Plenković. 😁

So, I guess we have to ask ourselves: does everyone think Catalonia is just Barcelona, or are they just completely ignoring everyone else living in the surrounding areas?

Well, here I am dropping receipts about transport coming out of places like New York and Chicago, all part of this big "support our brothers in Catalonia" movement.

Are New York and Chicago in Catalonia?

It looks like there are at least as many people showing up for unity as there were for independence protests. I guess that really throws a wrench into those theories suggesting that the 60% who stayed home during the elections just don't matter.

Except the thing is, they organized buses to bring people in from all over the country, and they aren't even trying to hide it.

Honestly, thank God the other side told their people to stay home, otherwise there would have been a literal bloodbath.

California today versus what California looked like fifty years ago under some right-wing tyrant.

Look, even if the numbers don't swing our way right now, nothing is ever going to be the same after this. It’s happening. If it doesn't happen right this second, it's coming fast. Very fast.
Transferring stock to parents in Stocks ·
jadeotter31 said:Greetings,

I am curious as to whether there is any viable way to transfer my stock holdings over to my parents if they are currently registered under my own name.

It frankly seems rather pointless for me to go through the hassle of opening a new checking account just to collect dividends when I don't have a steady stream of income at the moment. It would be significantly more straightforward if those shares were held by my parents instead, given that they already have their accounts fully established and ready to go.

I would truly appreciate any assistance or insight you might provide.

I have no clue why you're acting like opening a checking account is pointless just because of the dividends. It doesn't cost a dime to open one. You only deal with maintenance fees during those months when there's actually money sitting in there—like when your dividend hits. If the account is just idling with zero activity, you aren't paying anything. That's how it works with the Federal Reserve, and honestly, most banks here follow suit.
Look, trusting your parents is all well and good, but life happens. You never know. Getting your own account keeps things clean and avoids any messy drama down the road.
Wedding cakes and desserts in Weddings ·
crimsonsailor2 said:Look, I’m clueless when it comes to desserts, so I’m asking for some help here.
The wedding is for about 80 people in San Francisco, so we're looking at pretty much every Baskin-Robbins in the area. Any recommendations?

I’ve picked up some treats for birthdays and anniversaries back in the Mississippi Delta, and they were fine—but those were just store-bought. Can I order things that aren't literally "dry cookies"—like mini Canadian wafers or mini eclairs? How many pounds should I get per person, and what’s the price range? We might do a few different cake flavors—maybe one fruit-based, one chocolate, etc.—depending on how many guests show up.
Quality matters more to me than the price, though I'm not exactly loaded enough to pay for delivery from Target 😁

One more thing. Is krokant actually worth it? I personally love being able to slice it, but my fiancé isn't a fan. I’ve heard most people don't care for it, and since half my guest list probably won't even know what it is, I can't really gauge interest. Should I just stick to small cakes? Also, can cakes replace creamy pastries entirely? If I have both cake and krokant, am I expected to serve both or just pick one?
How much extra dessert should I order if I assume people will take some home? (And what's the standard box size—is it usually around a pound?)
Does anyone do those little mini-cakes that look almost like muffins? Instead of several large cakes, you could just stack various flavors on a tiered stand.

Sorry for the barrage of questions; it's all just coming out of my head at once, but I didn't know who else to ask. Hope you don't mind. 🙂 🙂

Look, just head over to that "Tradition" bakery near the border on st. I've been to a few weddings where they did the sweets and cakes, and everyone was absolutely floored. I checked online, and they don't really have a website—just a few pics on Facebook—but honestly, your best bet is to just walk in or give them a call. I bet they'd be happy to customize stuff for you.

Taylor Swift, I am aware of that chart. In fact, I recently noted on a gold thread that it looks like a bubble. However, people with more expertise than us dismissed my claim, insisting that gold is undervalued. 🤷

On an internet forum?? Give me a break... "people" who claim to know things...😬 If they aren't even posting here, then all I can say is they’re probably the same crowd that bought in back when gold was at $1,200, and now it's sitting at $1,100, and they're just praying they somehow break even.😍
Look, if everyone thought exactly the same way, there wouldn't be any money to be made in the market. Period.😉

Some folks thought stocks were a steal back in 2007 too, right before everything went south.

Look, if they’re stamped with $50, that’s just the face value. In some perfect little vacuum, they shouldn't ever trade for less than that. But this $190 price tag? That’s just what the market is doing right now, you know? Here’s the real kicker, though: from what I know, most big banks around here won't even touch gold. So, one day you might be sitting there hoping you can actually offload it to a local jeweler for $200 😬

The dilemmas you're sweating are valid, but at the end of the day, you're gonna have to make a call.😉

shadowpilot8 said:It is difficult to determine the most logical way to save when global inflation is being forecasted everywhere, especially since governments keep intervening by printing money constantly. At this stage, whether you hold dollars or euros doesn't matter much because our exchange rate remains steady, though the euro has dropped significantly against the dollar and is incredibly volatile right now; there is even chatter about the potential collapse of the EU and the end of the euro.

I mentioned stocks mostly as an aside, because you truly can never be certain you will protect your principal investment, let alone 😉. However, you don't need a massive amount of capital since brokers have largely eliminated minimum deposit requirements, charging only a commission of 0.25% to 0.5% per trade.

What is your take on this http://www.jpmorganchase.com/Default.aspx?sec=1443. Buy a gold or silver coin every month and put it in a piggy bank? I am serious; their value won't drop 🙂—and it doesn't lock you in for years like a life insurance policy does
.

Investing in gold is definitely not a bad move...was true ten years ago 😉
but right now? With it sitting at this ten-year peak? It feels more like pure panic buying than actual value... so I'm not totally sure how smart it is, but honestly, nobody knows anything anymore these days😬

As for the Democratic Party from our angle—wherever they decide to start cutting—of course the big question is whether they'll come for those too. But that would basically kill off mortgage savings programs, and as far as I know, those have been staples in the European Union for decades. I bet they'll survive here too. When everyone is drowning in debt like we are, any kind of saving is good for the country and the people. I mean, isn't the government literally trying to push home buying right now... through one of those "innovations" that caused such a massive uproar? It felt like they were just trying to keep the construction lobbies on life support... etc., etc.
Mistaken wire transfer/payment error in Banking, Insurance & Loans ·
So, I actually had this one time where they paid me way more than they were supposed to. I caught the mistake immediately, but honestly? I played dumb for a minute just to see what would happen. Then, the teller—who was totally off the clock, by the way—actually asked if I could swing back by to fix the mess. Look, I knew if I didn't clear it up, someone was gonna end up paying for it out of their own pocket, and I just don't have the heart to keep money that isn't mine. So yeah, I gave it back. If they hadn't noticed, maybe I would've kept playing the clueless card, but once you know? Keeping it is basically just stealing. It’s holding onto stuff that doesn't belong to you. People mess up all the time, sure, but taking advantage of a mistake like that is just straight-up immoral.

Quick question about credit cards in Banking, Insurance & Loans ·
coppergardener22 said:Look, it’s simple. You can walk into basically any bank in the country and grab a checking account. Nobody is going to grill you about why you’re opening one; they don't care. And once you get that account set up, you’re pretty much automatically signing up for online banking and all that extra digital stuff too. Most standard debit cards are just basic Maui branded ones. If you want to deal with foreign currency or anything involving the European Central Bank, that's what you use a VISA for. 😉

Where on earth did you get the idea that VISA is just for foreign currency? Never heard that one in my life... you can totally have a VISA debit card for a standard US dollar checking account, so... just setting the record straight since that's flat-out wrong. 😉
