We really need to get as much of this done as possible again,
Pros and cons of spiritual practices in Spirituality ·
Maria Parker77 said:Honestly, we really ought to just embrace our flaws and all that other nonsense people preach about. Instead, we spend half our lives fighting ourselves, which—let’s be real—just ends up making those exact issues even deeper and more permanent.

Personally? I totally love my flaws and my "ego." In fact, I actually admire it. 🙂

In the Conversation in Bog, NDW mentions how Bog says: What you observe disappears, but what you reject stays right where it is.

That’s exactly the point, isn't it? We need to accept exactly who we are instead of running away from the truth.

Maria Robinson2 said:It’s an illusion—thinking people are all cut from the same cloth...

In reality, they tend to lead with their flaws rather than their strengths.
They say, 'Accept me as I am, flaws and all, and then maybe—
just maybe—I'll surprise you with my virtues.'

In certain spiritual circles, this kind of logic is practically standard.
But—
frankly, one should be careful; keep a scale handy.
—if someone's shortcomings outweigh their merits, they aren't really worth much of a second glance, I suppose.

Well, if that's how you think and act, it’s no wonder things keep coming back to haunt you...

Maria Robinson2 said:The idea that "pros and cons are one and the same" will probably remain incomprehensible to most.

It’s an assertion that even the speaker can't quite decode themselves--
because, I guess,
there isn't really a "key" to be found here—not that anyone actually needs one...
since all the doors are already wide open, allowing you to...
drift in and out of rooms indefinitely, just circling through them over and over
until the day
comes when you finally wonder if having that freedom is actually a benefit or just a flaw.

If everything is one, then if truth exists, lies must be true too... but if lies are true, then everything is a lie... and if everything is a lie, then perhaps everything is simply the truth.

And while you're sitting there trying to pick just one side of that coin, your whole life just slips away into an illusion.

Today’s meetup was actually pretty interesting, and honestly, we need way more gatherings like this just to remind people how to communicate face-to-face without a screen in the middle...

It’s easy enough to hide behind a keyboard and pretend to be someone else online, but when you're standing right in front of someone in the real world, that whole act falls apart...

So, we're looking at this coming Saturday, January 2nd, 2016

Honestly... any day works for me. I’m actually pretty stoked about this because I missed out on an opportunity last year due to being tied up with my college finals. Now that my schedule is wide open, I'm really looking forward to diving into some heavy psychological, philosophical, and spiritual alternative debates. 😁

I figured I’d pop in here for a bit, even if I don’t hang out on this particular forum all that much—I tend to spend most of my time over on the alternative boards instead. If anyone actually wants to link up or grab a drink, just give me a shout or whatever the protocol is around here; I'm based right in the heart of New York City.

Look, if you really think about it, the spiritual and the material are actually one and the same...

Matter is just the densest possible manifestation of spirit... while spirit is simply the most refined, subtle state of matter...

It all exists within this constant stretch between duality—between everything and nothingness—two concepts that seem irreconcilable, yet they can only truly exist as a single, unified whole.

Neither one holds any real advantage when they’re essentially identical
You really need to stop overthinking things when you speak, because if you do, it’s just never going to happen 🙂

Thinking too much about it just ends up fueling your anxieties

David Vaughn75 said:Look, I don't think it's an "either-or" situation—spirituality and materialism aren't actually at war with each other. It's more like spirituality sits on a higher plane than the material stuff.

But if you look at how nature actually works, neither one holds authority over the other... that hierarchy is just something humans cooked up in their own heads.

I’m currently based in Washington, D.C., and I was wondering if anyone here might be interested in grabbing a coffee or going for a walk... maybe dive into some deep conversations about alternative spirituality and stuff like that...
Shoot me a DM if you want to link up... ideally looking for people with open minds who aren't weighed down by a bunch of preconceived notions...
My schedule is pretty much wide open most of the time, so we can meet up whenever works best for you.

(I'd personally love to connect with folks under 30, though honestly, I'm open to anyone at this point)

The whole thing about spirituality is basically a trade-off where the perks of being spiritual are just the downsides of materialism, and the flaws of spirituality are actually the strengths of materialism...
Good and evil don't actually exist in the natural world; they’re just dualities manufactured by the way the human mind perceives things...
Nature simply exists as it is, much like civilization does...
Every single person is exactly who they are, doing what they believe is the best possible course of action—so how can we possibly sit there and judge someone as being "good" or "evil"?
When everything carries its own polar opposite, most people just reflexively cling to one side instead of finding the freedom that comes from embracing both
Why do we feel the need to hide our emotions? in Psychology ·
It all starts at home, doesn't it? It begins when parents start policing how you're allowed to feel... telling you not to cry, or forbidding certain reactions, or acting like your emotions are some kind of inconvenience they need to shut down.
By the time we grow up under all those restrictions, we've basically mastered the art of burying our own feelings and suppressing everything we actually feel deep down.
Why do we feel the need to hide our emotions? in Psychology ·
Michael Diaz6 said:I've spent years studying how people tick, and I can say this with total confidence:

The ones who are overly sensitive, constantly showering you with attention and big emotions? They usually don't have much else to bring to the table, so they overcompensate.
Then you've got the people who seem cold or detached—those are the ones who actually have something valuable to offer, which is exactly why they’re careful about losing it or handing it to the wrong person.

People ALWAYS act the complete opposite of how they present themselves.
Every single time. Life is just one big masquerade ball.

Haha, I think my dad used to run an exhibition with a title just like that once :P

At the end of the day, people just behave the way they were conditioned to behave... mostly following whatever scripts society drilled into them from the moment they were born.
Bryan Martinez72 said:That bolded part? Spot on. Are you like that, though? Or do you think some random stranger is somehow more important than you, like you'd put their opinion above your own?

Why do people try to make an impact anyway? What's the point of a better impression? Maybe it's just because they want to present the best version of themselves when they're trying to build a connection—whether that's a relationship or a job interview. I don't see anything inherently wrong with that, as long as it doesn't turn into forcing some fake persona on everyone.

So, I guess you never force anything or pretend to be someone you're not...
half of what you have right now wouldn't even exist if you hadn't put in that effort.
Michael Diaz6 said:Once you finally stop trying so hard, you'll actually find yourself ahead of the curve.

Beyond just getting a better read on the people you work with—seeing their strengths and their flaws—you become the kind of person people actually want to hang out with. Why? Because you actually listen. In America today, people CHRONICLE a massive lack of anyone who TRULY listens or makes someone feel like what they're saying ACTUALLY MATTERS.

You become ESSENTIAL.

When you're the one people need, you're a step ahead of them and everyone else, because they'll always be coming back to you.

So my advice? Just stop giving a damn. Stop worrying about how you look or how you act. Honestly, most people don't care that much anyway. Just be real and use your own slang.
People are starving for someone who cares, someone who genuinely listens and gives advice out of actual empathy. Be that person. Focus on the individual...

Before you know it, you won't even be able to keep up with all the friends and connections you've made.
It'll get to the point where it drives you crazy.

People crave it. Most people are just too weak to handle it.

For that kind of dynamic to work, there always has to be someone needing someone else, which means there's always going to be someone one step ahead.😁
Michael Diaz6 said:It’s because people naively assume others are actually paying attention to them. Usually, when you feel like someone is fixated on you, it's just because you're in love or caught up in some crush. In reality, nobody is sitting around thinking about anyone else...
Everyone’s got too much going on in their own lives to worry about you. And trying to impress people? It's a waste of time. You're basically performing for someone who isn't even truly listening while you're talking to them...
Everyone's wired that way
They care about themselves more than you.

When two people are talking, Person A is busy trying to look good, and Person B is doing the exact same thing...
Both of them are so wrapped up in their own heads that neither one is actually giving the other any real attention.
So why even bother?

Look, once you stop performing, society tends to move on without you... but the real kicker is that you should probably stop trying altogether. If you feel like you *have* to try just to be accepted, then you've already been rejected from the start, haven't you? If acceptance requires an act, then you aren't being accepted for who you actually are; you're just being tolerated for the mask you're wearing.

And let's be honest, one way or another, we're all essentially outsiders anyway.😁
