There are moments when I feel a sudden, overwhelming urge to just smash my phone and laptop against a wall and call it a day...

It’s like they’ve fundamentally altered the way we live our lives. Our priorities have shifted, and people just don't talk to one another anymore...

I recently caught myself sitting at a cafe with a friend, and instead of actually catching up, we were both just staring down at our screens, frantically typing out texts... 🙂

I’m feeling pretty drained, so I think I’ll just head straight for a hot shower and call it a night. 🤣🤣🤣

I’ve been lurking and reading through all your posts, but I wanted to check in briefly so you know I'm still hanging out with you guys.
I actually stumbled upon this little note I received once... it said...
Just take life one day at a time,
and then move forward into whatever comes next.
Don't try to live in the past,
the present, and the future all at the exact same moment.
Wishing you tons of health, love, and happiness!

I really loved that sentiment.
Sending my best to all of you!🙂👍:jumping

Best, 🙂

It’s good to see you back in this corner of the internet 🙂

I truly hope things are looking up for you... 🙂

Your old man is the one looking feminine. 🙂

Just keep it down, Ozzy... before you get yourself into trouble... 😂😂😂😂

bluemason3 said:Nah, I can't say that. I've got too much respect for the working class. 🤣

And now I'm off to check if they actually answered the question. 🤣

Man, I wonder how much of a person can actually be left after years of being broken down by the grind. 😢
🤣

Ozzy, how about you ditch that feminine avatar so you can stop misleading everyone? 😉 🙂

Going green is always a nice sentiment, provided you can actually pull it off... 😍

That sketch was brilliant; if only my life were that easy 😍

As for the PTO, I still have a massive pile of days left over from last year, and at this rate, I won't even come close to using them all before they expire. 😍

🙂 thanks

but you know I'm merely stating the obvious 🙂

Another workday looms on the horizon tomorrow... 😉
I find myself lacking any shred of motivation; I really ought to put in a request for some emergency PTO immediately... 😍

People are just strange creatures 😉

Hope everyone has a decent weekend 🙂

😂😂😂 they realize that if they didn't look out for you and pay you what you're worth, the competition would move in and snap you up in a heartbeat 😂😂😂

Taylor Fox5 said:Can anyone recommend some solid retail software for a small inventory, maybe around 300-500 SKUs? Also, is there a local dev in San Diego who specializes in this kind of thing?
Second thing on my mind: I need a GREAT accountant... because honestly, having someone competent running the books is half the battle when you're trying to run a real business.

P.S. This is for the San Diego area.

THANKS

When you eventually go to hire an accountant, my advice is to steer clear of the bargain basement options; instead, look for someone who isn't exactly cheap, possesses deep expertise, and can actually guarantee up-to-date data along with rapid turnaround on your analytics—things like accounts receivable, payables, and inventory levels.

From what I've seen, the premium you pay for that level of bookkeeping service pays for itself almost immediately, and often exceeds its own cost through the sheer efficiency it brings to your business operations.

Raymond Martinez10 said:I missed the broadcast, but I highly doubt they're actually lowering the capital requirements. My guess? They're looking at cutting incorporation fees instead. Let's be real: capital isn't an expense. An actual expense is paying the notary, filing fees, and all those other administrative hurdles that come with starting a business—which, frankly, are quite

That's exactly what I heard as well. 🙂

Weekend Getaways
Mondays are strictly reserved for doing absolutely nothing, especially when the weather is as miserable as it is today 🤣
I think I spent half the day just sleeping through the gloom 😂😂😂

I’ve been officially tasked with sending my regards to the whole crew here on the forum; Dubravka20 mentioned she’s out of surgery, doing well, and keeping us all in her thoughts 🙂

I can only hope she wasn't thinking about the accounting department during her recovery—at least she’ll finally have a legitimate excuse to get a break from them... 🙂

If you think these little scuffles over free handouts are intense, we haven't even scratched the surface yet, if you ask me...
Once the payroll adjustments kick in due to those new federal regulations, followed by everyone jumping ship and resigning from their positions...
well, yeah, that's when the real chaos begins...

I was down at the IRS office earlier today to drop off some paperwork, and I ended up listening to one accountant vent about how her online filing access got totally cut off because she missed a payment deadline by a hair.

The folks over at Referentica seemed genuinely baffled by the whole situation, though they eventually just settled for filing everything manually on paper...

I honestly can’t make heads or tails of the logic here—they roll out these high-tech digital filing systems, and then immediately lock you out the second there's a hiccup. 🤷

And yes, I’m fairly certain any other lady browsing this forum would find themselves nodding in agreement with me here 😂😂😂

Jessica Grant56, honestly, I don't think any of us women could outtalk you if we actually tried 😂😂😂

As for my situation, about half of them are already finished and printed—they're drafted immediately—it's just that nobody's bothered to drop them off yet... When you're dealing with clients who are lazy, careless, or practically illiterate when it comes to using a fax machine or the internet, it’s hardly a shock... That said, if they pay their bills on time and in full, you can't exactly go picking fights with them over it...

You don't exactly strike me as a threat 🙂

That’s what everyone says right up until they see the bloodshot eyes and the look of pure destruction, while I'm simultaneously scanning the room for the nearest sharp object 😳

Here in the States, they haven't allowed amended returns for two years now. They just have you settle all discrepancies in the following period. Sure, you can get permission to adjust the base figures if the sales tax doesn't align, but that's about it. Everything else just rolls over into the next filing cycle.
I once filed a return with zeros across the board and nobody even blinked. The paperwork was submitted on time, and as for the actual data? Well, I'll deal with those numbers whenever the universe decides to let me. 🤣

But in that scenario, aren't you supposed to be calculating interest on unpaid sales tax for shipments that weren't accounted for on time?????

I haven't heard of a single jurisdiction that refuses to accept corrections... Which part of the US are you operating in, anyway?

obviously—everything needs a fancy justification. I’ve learned from this forum: I can't just say I didn't know, instead, it's gotta be there was a clerical error in the records or some other nonsense (just so I can sound super important and brilliant! 😉)

Even the most diligent workers make mistakes; I haven't met a single soul in this country who hasn't tripped up at some point...
The real trick is having the sense to catch the error and fix it during a review...
It’s just basic logic... 😍
And, of course, you sprinkle in a few high-flown terms that nobody actually understands just to give the whole explanation that necessary air of unearned authority, haha. 😂😂😂

Personally, I find it a bit embarrassing because I don't want to write in my official report that there was an "administrative oversight" when the truth is the client just dropped off their paperwork on the very last day of the deadline... 🙂
yet I can't exactly go around blaming the client... well, I could, but... ahem... 🙂
so now I'm just stuck here, spinning my wheels trying to figure out the best way to handle it... 🙄

amberbadger17 said:Actually, this is kind of interesting. I've never really thought about it because I always file my sales tax on time... but what if I actually miss a deadline? Do I just file a zero? And then do an amendment—because I've honestly never had to do that before... What exactly does the sales tax look like for the period I missed? Like, using that late date? Does it just pass through the system totally normally?

Well, I don't usually resort to filing a zero return myself; I typically manage to get everything processed in time. If things get frantic, I'll just quickly run the numbers on a calculator—usually just pulling from the POS system or the ledger—and enter those figures. Then, once I've finalized the month, I either file an amendment or simply carry the difference over into the next reporting period.

An amendment is handled by submitting a corrected sales tax form for that exact same period. You just mark "Amended" clearly at the top of the form and attach a brief explanation detailing why the correction was necessary. Of course, the IRS would expect that explanation to be reasonably sound... 🙂
