And don't let anything ruin your weekend vibes. Just shut those books tight and don't even look at them—don't even think about work until Wednesday... and turn off that company phone. 🙂

It was brutal. Things got way more tangled up on my end than usual, but whatever, it's over. I'm done thinking about it.
I can't exactly kill my work phone, but I know they'll only call if someone is literally dying. I've made sure they're too terrified to try anything. 🤣

If you feel a bit shaky on Monday, just grab a glass of water and keep moving. Don't give it a second thought. 😉🙂

Man, these last four months have been an absolute grind. Probably felt the same for you guys too...

Drinking water will be the easy part. For everyone else here, just try not to overdo it with the overtime. Some things can definitely wait. 😉

Considering I’ve already reached the stage where I find myself tapping rhythmically on my keyboard just to stay grounded and dialing the help hotline out of pure reflex, I suspect I’ve officially crossed that line. 😂😂😂

Well, you don't exactly strike me as a terrifying figure. 🙂

That is precisely the problem—there is no "other day"... While I can easily fix my own sales tax filings later, the year-end audits have a hard deadline, and it looks like I'll end up having to bail out my colleagues who haven't quite finished their parts in time...

Henry Edwards33 said:Don't get carried away 😉

Don't worry, I've got plenty of backlog. I've been leaving everything for "later" for ages. But I'm not letting this ruin my mood. 👋

Anyway, I finally made it home. It feels like it's been an eternity since I could actually get through everything. 🙄

As for the paperwork, I'm done waiting on them. I'm finished. I'll give it until a certain deadline, and after that, I'm just tackling things as they come. Whatever is ready gets done, and whatever isn't? That can wait for the next tax season. 😳

That sounds wise; I think I’ll have to adopt that same strategy...

And please, don't let anything sour your mood this weekend. Just close those ledgers, shut them tight, and don't even think about glancing at them until Wednesday... better yet, turn off your work phone entirely 🙂
If you feel a bit of anxiety creeping in on Monday, just grab a glass of water and try to look the other way 😉🙂

Honestly, these past four months have been absolutely brutal, and I suspect they've been just as draining for you

finalized the tax filings and everything today
tomorrow I'm just gonna coast into work until 2:00 PM—then it's back to the usual grind through Wednesday 👋

after that, I'll be diving straight into my notes 🙂

Well, there you are. I've been waiting for you. My notes are finally sorted, the public filing is paid for, and everything has been officially submitted. 🙂

Honestly, I can't help but laugh at you people ☕

Go ahead and mock me, 😍 you little overachiever 😁

But when you find yourself panicking on Monday morning, just know I'll be sitting here feeling incredibly envious of you while you enjoy your peace and quiet somewhere else 😂😂😂

Oh, they certainly haven't earned it... though I do have one client who hasn't even bothered to get their paperwork over to me yet. If they can't be bothered to care, neither can I; I'll just file the sales tax return as a zero and deal with the amendment later when I actually feel like it. 🙂

I won't be able to make it for a long weekend, unfortunately, since I'm stuck working this Monday. 🙂 🙂
Virtual Coffee Break - Chat in Business, Accounting & Taxes ·
The final numbers are technically done, though I’m still wading through the tax calculations...

🙂 It feels like this process is an endless loop with no exit strategy in sight 🙂

I suspect the realization that my work is far from over might just be the thing that ruins my weekend plans 🙂

Saying I was going there to protest was pure irony. In reality, I just have to drop off some balance sheets and tax filings that the IRS website can't handle 😢

I suppose I took it that way, though it felt like a rather convenient moment to jump in🙂
Sony, I'll try to be more encouraging next time😉

You should’ve been sending me good vibes, instead of this 😢

If you’re heading out to protest, you really ought to stay fired up and indignant; that’s generally how these movements actually gain any traction.😉

It’s honestly pathetic that we can’t even walk by those grand landmarks without feeling a sense of irony. As part of the protest, I’m heading in tomorrow to hand-deliver the paperwork I couldn't get through the IRS website.
The whole thing is just an embarrassment. 😳

I actually stopped by the 😂😂😂
today, and I can tell you with absolute certainty that nothing has changed; the clerks at the service windows still seem to have no idea what they are doing...
Specifically regarding an interest waiver request today... 🙂

Jessica Grant56 said:Honestly, you should be ashamed—joining in with everyone else like that. It’s genuinely rude and low. Since when did we give them the right to cut down on jobs (and by "jobs," let's be real, I mean well-paid, secure bureaucracy living in fancy government buildings)?
It’s unforgivable, really. Anyone pushing for all this "e-government" stuff should be called out. In the end, even public transit suffers because fewer people are actually visiting local agencies like the LAPD or the IRS. Personally, I think we should scrap all this digital nonsense entirely. Or better yet, maybe we should just get rid of the IRS altogether. That kind of heavy-handed oversight is something you only see in repressive, dictatorial regimes—places that feel the need to have a "Big Brother" watching every penny. That's not how things work in civilized societies, where an entrepreneur and a bank can deal directly without some middleman hovering over them. If I read this correctly—and I had to rub my eyes twice to make sure—the IRS is now monitoring the sale of diesel fuel?!?!? At this rate, the next logical step will be the government regulating sheep farming (black, green, or orange sheep) and counting how many squids are caught per square inch of ocean.

In case you weren't aware, the government has actually been micromanaging the fishing industry and shell harvests for quite some time now, getting increasingly aggressive about it by the day...
Honestly, I wouldn't be shocked if the IRS decided to start auditing the local seafood supply too.

amberbadger17 said:Man, they just don't click at all. But hey, I’m a slow learner, so I guess I’m just working on my impulse control one mistake at a time. 🙂 Hmm, well, I wouldn't call myself a professional accountant or anything—I just try to keep my own books straight. It's a work in progress, honestly!

honestly, I find it hard to believe you're quite as scattered as you claim to be. 😉
it's likely just a matter of perception on your part.🙂

amberbadger17 said:hmmm... honestly, I wish my husband could just take care of all this gray matter stuff on his own (proud wife of 😁), because my mom is just way too sweet and naive for her own good 🙂... thanks for the shoutout!

I find myself somewhat skeptical regarding the veracity of that bolded quote... 🙄
being an impulsive person and working in accounting don't exactly strike me as a compatible pair 🙂

Jessica Grant56 said:Does anyone have an emoji for that kind of hysterical, cackling laughter?? I feel like I need one right about now...

In any case, copy-pasting works fine for me on the TSI system—I just open both windows and migrate last year's data, which seems okay? You can't really reuse old files since there’s always a new version coming out. But honestly, I have no clue how to pull data from the Syn statistics into an Excel form. I'll look into it, though! Send me a DM letting me know how to transfer those stats, because I'm genuinely stumped here.

Don't forget, I'm just running the microSyn version—I can't exactly go throwing money away on every single module... which means NO electronic forms for me.

I can't exactly send you a sour little emoji because, for some reason, the forum won't let me upload images... 😍

Regarding the TSI, my method is much more old-school—I just transcribe it by hand with a pen. 😂 😂 😂
I'm usually finished in under five minutes...
I don't use electronic forms either... nor do I particularly want to, as a small act of protest. It feels somewhat absurd that they charge a fee for this type of submission when, in reality, we are simply making their lives easier and reducing their need for staff...

It’s honestly pretty draining, just sitting there in this constant state of limbo, waiting to hear if the crew from the hospital finally made it back home...

My sincerest congratulations to you...🙂

I’d love to have a grandchild of my own, but it seems like nobody in this country is actually willing to step up and make it happen. 😍

Aaaaaaaaaaaa, look at you, just absolutely beaming with happiness now... 👋

mellowfox56 said:Hey ladies, I see you all hanging out here! What's the word?

I slept through half the day today, and honestly, even that didn't seem to do much. It’s as if no amount of shut-eye can actually compensate for how utterly draining this past week has been. 😁
Not much on my end, just drifting along. How about you?

Henry Edwards33 said:I’d love to take your advice, but they don't exactly hand-deliver the paperwork to me, and I'm too scatterbrained to remember to send everything over with my latest status update 🤦

Once I finally get the hang of ☕

I’ve officially stopped wasting my breath trying to make sense of the numbers. It feels like a lost cause when my tracking never actually aligns with the final quarterly reports anyway; someone always ends up dropping a last-minute adjustment on my desk right at the end of the month, throwing everything out of whack.
I tend to make do with whatever is currently on hand, much like Dubravka does, though I usually find myself scrambling to pull it all together during the very last minute or the day before. ☕

Jessica Grant56 said:Alright, I guess it’s my turn to brag a little too!! You guys have no idea how much work goes into processing all this data.

So, I went through the whole process—everything went smoothly, simply, and accurately—until I started transferring everything into the official form. Naturally, I copied and pasted the old data first, saved everything perfectly, printed out the main report, and sent it off. Then, yesterday afternoon, it hit me like a ton of bricks—I realized I didn't actually transcribe the first page, just the second one! Please, ladies (and gentlemen), spare me the comments—I'm probably older than most of you here. Dubravka can chime in if she wants, though, since she’s always been pretty understanding about these things.

Of course, the first two sections on the main page are totally blank. I mean, I should have caught that myself, and honestly, the lady at the bank should have noticed and asked something, but no—we were all a bit dazed by everything happening yesterday morning, and now, predictably, I have to go in and fix it... A massive pile of incorrect data, and for what? Seriously, nobody needs this!

@Dubo, for heaven's sake, you copy-paste from ledger entries and tax forms, not from an internet forum (just look at the accounting software thread, post #1907).... 😲 😲😲

You know, I really can't find a way to make the same joke funny twice. 😂😂😂😂

From now on, I’m calling you Copy-Paste Dubo. 😂😂😂

Me? Meeting deadlines and submitting statistics on time?
I nearly let one slip through my fingers entirely... 🙂
Fortunately, I had a sudden moment of clarity around 1:00 PM and managed to get it finished and submitted just in the nick of time. 🎉
