Hehe, there are two different versions of the story that don't quite line up, though that was ages ago. If you're looking for the real scoop, I'm sure you can dig it up online. His biography actually makes for some pretty great bedtime reading! 🙂

It was ages ago, so I can't recall if there was even video footage, and I personally never saw it... though people talked about it constantly. I think he was already at Manchester United by then. Basically, they were playing an away game against some underdog side—maybe Queens Park Rangers or Crystal Palace—and some fan spent the whole match screaming insults at him. Eric just snapped! He charged at the guy and landed this wild kung-fu kick. He ended up getting a red card and was suspended for several months.

He’s been suspended a billion times over, too, for hitting teammates in practice or opponents during games, spitting, or throwing balls, jerseys, or cleats at people—not just players, but refs, coaches, and fans alike. He didn't play for the French national team after he cursed out their manager right to his face. Honestly, how many red cards, suspensions, or fines has he racked up in his career? What can I say... King Eric.

This is such a great topic. I still remember that unfortunate plane crash incident—it was basically an own goal because the ball deflected off two Perugia players after his shot before finally going in. Honestly though, the final score was fair given how Perugia played, especially with that long-range strike from 35 yards out and that incredible solo effort by Antonioli.

I’ll never forget this one guy (not sure which club he played for, but I think it was in the Premier League). He picked up a second yellow for a sliding tackle, but if you watched the replay, he didn't even touch the opponent! Poor guy knew he was sent off unfairly. He sat there on the sidelines, leaning against the pitchside ads, just absolutely bawling. He was weeping like a child who had their lollipop snatched away; he left a literal puddle of tears. His teammates tried to comfort him, the opponents tried to comfort him, even the manager tried to console him... but nope, the poor guy just kept sobbing. 🙂

And then there's the legendary Rodja. When that volunteer player struck the referee, Rodja just commented: "Who is that guy? What do you mean he's my player? I've never heard of him!" 😁

Non-football moments: Eric has a billion of them. You can never forget that kick to the fan's face. Luciano Gaucci... that's another one that pops into my head.

I’ve never actually played Championship Manager 3, but I think CM4 is fantastic! Even if you factor in those six billion bugs. Honestly, if CM4 is considered junk, then what does that make 03/04? That one is totally unplayable.

Championship Manager 3 was such a massive letdown, so I'm really hoping one of these two actually lives up to what we got from CM4.
