Madden NFL 2005 Demo

Electronic Arts just dropped the Madden NFL 2005 demo at 2:05 PM.

I’m pretty sure I’ll be the first guy in the States to jump on this thing. 😁

Championship Manager 5 hits on November 1st, then Madden NFL 2005 follows on November 5th.

Anyway, just thought you guys should know.

I am seriously counting down the days until the new Championship Manager arrives—I've got big plans to sign Klasnice and bring him over to Arsenal.

Championship Manager 3 was such a massive letdown, so I'm really hoping one of these two actually lives up to what we got from CM4.

I haven't touched FM yet, but I’ve been playing CM since the very beginning—I've got every single version from the first one through CM4, along with every update, sitting right on my hard drive. But man, they left out Klasnice? Honestly, I might just lose my mind.

Championship Manager 3 was easily the peak.
CM4 is a total slog, though I’m hoping CM5 actually feels playable.

Can someone break down the difference between FM and the old CM series?

A better way to handle this for Madden NFL is you can submit your photo. I think they're only taking entries until the end of the month, and if you get picked, you'll actually be in the game. They'll use the faces of people who submit photos once current players retire and new ones come in... here's the link, if I remember correctly this

To be honest, the only reason I even touched 03/04 was to mess around with the new wonderkids—though back in the third installment, I actually managed to lead the LA Lakers to a European championship title. Man, I can't even describe how stoked I was that day. Let's just say I'm about half as happy as I would've been if that had happened in real life.

Back in the day, we just had Championship Manager, and man, it was gold. Championship Manager 3 was hands down the GOAT, developed by Electronic Arts and published by Eidos.

Then CM4 happened, which was an absolute train wreck. Why? Because the publisher (Eidos) basically forced Electronic Arts to rush out CM4 before it was ready. It turned out to be total garbage...

Because of all that fighting, Eidos (the publisher) and Electronic Arts (the devs) ended up splitting ways.

Electronic Arts found themselves a new publisher (Sega), while Eidos went off with a new "developer"—BGS.

The kicker is that Electronic Arts lost the rights to the actual name, the brand, and even the game's UI look. So here’s the deal:

Eidos and BGS are working on a game called: Championship Manager 5
while Sega and Electronic Arts are making Madden NFL 2005.

That's the big split right there.

I grabbed the Madden NFL 2005 Demo today and holy crap, the game looks awesome!!! Seriously, the interface is totally different, you guys seriously need to check this out. You can grab the demo at www.sigames.com (it's only 35mb).

So basically, in November, we're getting two different manager games. Personally, I'm leaning towards Madden NFL because it's being built by the same legends who created the original CM series (1, 2, 3, 01-02, etc.).

Madden NFL has a new crew behind it, so I'm a little skeptical, honestly.

Don't get sucker punched by the old name—what used to be CM is now Madden NFL, and CM5 is something else entirely...

I’ve never actually played Championship Manager 3, but I think CM4 is fantastic! Even if you factor in those six billion bugs. Honestly, if CM4 is considered junk, then what does that make 03/04? That one is totally unplayable.

Look, you're missing the point—CM4 is perfectly playable, it just doesn't hold a candle to the depth of CM3.

Like copperpuma96 already pointed out—Madden NFL 2005 is the actual successor to the "real" Championship Manager we've been playing all this time. Championship Manager 5 is just some totally different game riding the coattails of a famous name.

So, if you're a true CM fan, Madden NFL 2005 is the one you're actually waiting for. The CM 5 devs are promising the world, and if they actually pull it off—which I highly doubt—it might be decent and give Madden NFL some competition. Sadly, most people are clueless about this whole mess between Electronic Arts and SI, so they'll probably just grab CM 5 thinking it's the sequel to CM4.

I'm downloading the demo right now (which, by the way, is crawling 🙂 ). For anyone else planning to grab it, keep in mind this is just a BETA demo made a month ago. By the time the full game drops, they’ll have fixed most of the bugs and added plenty of stuff back in.

Man, that link over on the Electronic Arts site is totally dead... Anyone know of another site where I can actually grab this?

Look, there’s no debate here: CM 03/04 is way more fun to play than CM4.

And don't even get me started—CM 01/02 is hands down the greatest CM ever made!

Man, I can hardly wait—I’m definitely grabbing a copy at the store the very first day! 😲I also heard rumors that Championship Manager isn't going to be around anymore, since they're switching over to Madden NFL instead. I've seen some of the new features coming to Madden NFL, and honestly? I don't think I'll be leaving my desk once it finally drops. I just really hope it isn't riddled with bugs like usual—I'd love to avoid the endless cycle of downloading patches for once!

Honestly, even though Madden NFL 2005 might be riddled with a million little glitches—and believe me, they're everywhere—it’s ABSOLUTELY NOT a bad game...

I’ve probably been playing Championship Manager for five years now, if not longer—but I’ll tell you one thing for certain: in my book, Championship Manager 3 is hands down the greatest entry in the entire series.
