I know it feels a bit heavy or even ungrateful to be dropping such serious advice on a random internet forum, but yeah, migraines usually hit one side of the head and sometimes come with that aura thing beforehand.
Just go see a professional; it might turn out to be nothing at all, but I guess it’s better to have an expert weigh in.
Yeah, I've already got an appointment scheduled.

My experience was a little different; I’ve had it happen twice now. First, my central vision just sort of vanished—not completely, but enough that I couldn't focus on reading anything—and then it drifted toward the periphery before slowly fading away. I also saw these jagged, flickering lines flashing around. Maybe that’s what it is?
I suppose it might not be the same for everyone.
I totally forgot to mention that once my vision finally cleared up, I ended up with this intense headache localized on the left side of my head. I popped two Advil, which helped a bit, I guess, but even now, a full day later, I can still feel the ache, though it’s definitely much more manageable than it was.
Thanks for getting back to me!
Yeah, I’ve actually already gone ahead and scheduled an eye exam.
My mother went through something pretty similar when she was younger, though her situation was a bit more extreme—her entire field of vision basically shrunk to the point where she could barely make out two letters in a book. It was also a fleeting thing for her, and thankfully, it never happened again.
Hey there.
So, this morning around 9:00 AM, while I was just sitting at my computer doing some work, the right half of my visual field suddenly just... vanished from both eyes.
The left side seemed to be working perfectly fine, though.
To try and describe it, if I were looking straight into a mirror, it felt like I could only see the left half of myself; the right side just looked stretched out, totally devoid of any actual detail. It was almost like a massive loss of peripheral vision, but more extreme.
This whole thing lasted for about half an hour, and then eventually my vision just snapped back to normal and I could see the full picture again.
Just for context, I’m 25 years old and I deal with diplopia—double vision—all the time.
But up until this point, nothing like this has ever happened to me.
Does anyone here know anything about this, or maybe you've gone through something similar?
It seems like everything in this life—whether it’s breathing or just existing—requires some sort of official permit or government clearance, though I suppose parenting is one of those few chaotic exceptions where no paperwork is required. ☕
When you go looking for empathy from people you actually thought might understand you, only to have them turn around and slap you down instead, I guess there’s really no point in being vulnerable; you just end up performing a role. ☕
Just imagine it—you finally open up and admit that you’ve been struggling with depression and dark thoughts for a long time, and you’re a MAN, no less!
Naturally, they decide you're just some pathetic loser who isn't worth a damn. 🙄
So, I suppose the only way forward is to slap on a fake smile and pretend everything is perfectly fine. 🙂
It honestly gets under my skin when people can't just hold a conversation at a reasonable volume, instead choosing to scream over everything like they’re trying to outshout a Boeing 747 engine mid-takeoff.
Then again, I suppose I tend to talk like some sort of monotone robot—pretty flat and lacking any real emotional peaks or valleys—which I guess probably irritates a lot of people too. 😁
If being your authentic self doesn't actually get you anywhere in this life, then I suppose there's really nothing left to do but put on a mask and pretend to be someone else entirely.
