It works both ways, too; you aren't going to like every single person you meet, either. That's just how life goes—you'll find common ground with some, and you'll clash with others...

It’s not that they're everyone, I just don't want to be around them. If there were ways to hang out without them, that would be fine. But as it stands, it's just not worth the stress.

At the end of the day, if something doesn't sit right with you, you can just decide it's not for you, pack up, and head home. 🥳

Yesterday, goldencanyon6 and others were coming at me with some nonsense and being quite rude. I'm not sure what their deal was, but I'm a human being and I won't tolerate people acting superior to me. If they have personal issues to work through (which seems obvious), they should probably go see a professional.

As for who wants to hang out with people like that, fine. Not me. They seem like bitter, malicious types who hate everything, including themselves.

I wouldn't if I were you; you might end up in the line of fire too.

A reasonable person isn't going to bother trying with people who treat them like trash. You had your chance and you blew it. Chaos!

If they're just as rude in person as they are in this chat, it's probably best to stay home.

Anyone have any leads?

Actually, doesn't matter—here is the official word (just so nobody else wastes their time if they're stuck in the same boat):

On April 30, 2014, we announced the deprecation of the WhatsApp XMPP Chat API as part of the release of Platform API v2.0.

After April 30th, 2015 apps will no longer be able to access the service or API. This includes both access to chat.facebook.com and the xmpp_login permission.

We recommend people access Meta Messenger on the desktop via Facebook.com or Messenger.com.

What a mess. Just one more reason for me to go full hermit on BitTorrent.

I’m always down for some occasional chatting if anyone’s interested. Feel free to reach out. 👍

People are way too wrapped up in their own movies to notice anyone else's scars.

For the last couple of days, I haven't been able to connect via XMPP to Meta Messenger, whether I'm on my PC or my phone.

Did they decide to kill off the protocol or something? I'm trying to connect to chat.facebook.com using port 5222.

On my desktop, Pidgin just gives me this error: "Server closed the connection."

It's strange because everything has worked perfectly for months... 🤷

But hey, I’ve always been this way, I suppose.

What really scares me, though, is how people have started getting on my nerves lately—like, I can't even find the energy to grab a coffee with a friend anymore. I feel like I'm being suffocated by everyone else's noise, just constant, empty small talk. I just want to run away from all of it. Just retreat into my own little bubble.
The thing is, I can't stay tucked away in my own world forever, no matter how much I might want to.
I mean, you need people, right? Connection is necessary.

Even with my boyfriend—lately, I haven't even had the heart to talk to him much, and we’ve drifted apart quite a bit. And of course, I end up taking it out on him, and my family too, which isn't fair.
Basically, I feel like I'm turning into a bad person—just zero patience left for anyone, plus I'm super withdrawn and feeling pretty depressed. :(

You aren't a bad person.

You actually answered your own question in that bolded part: what you're going through is just a perfectly normal reaction to all the nonsense people are throwing at you.
