Religion again in Feedback & Suggestions ·
In my opinion, the setup actually makes perfect sense on paper. Dividing everything into a general section where people can just chat casually about current events regarding religion, and then having a more "specialized" section for "theology and religious practice" where different denominations can lay out their doctrines and answer specific questions from their own perspective... I think that's a really solid way to go.

The real issue, though, is that it just isn't working in practice because, well, nobody is actually moderating that part of the Forum. It feels like total chaos, and honestly, it’s mostly being caused by just a handful of people (regardless of what they believe). I guess if we just had a few warnings issued here and there, things would settle down. We don't need some ultra-religious moderator acting like a zealot, jumping into every single thread to push a specific agenda—we've already dealt with one of those, haven't we? No thanks! What we really need is just someone normal. Someone who can tell the difference between an insult and a simple statement of fact, or distinguish between actual questioning and just trolling. Most importantly, we need someone with zero tolerance for anyone calling for violence.
Elvis Presley in Religion ·
Keith Morgan10 said:Elvis Presley is an interesting guy, but one thing just doesn't sit right with me. He’s dead set on the idea that the Earth is flat, and hey, that's his choice. He quotes the Bible quite a bit, too—he seems to know his way around the text. But I have to wonder... why does he never mention what God says about pride?
It seems like both the globe believers and the flat-earthers share this same trait: they’re absolutely convinced they’re right and everyone else is just lost.
Yet, neither side really brings anything to the table that serves as undeniable, visual proof of the shape.
Wouldn't it be more humble, maybe even more divine, to just say, "I don't think it's a sphere," instead of stubbornly insisting it's flat without any actual evidence?
The "proof" these folks present is certainly interesting, but honestly, it raises more questions than it actually answers.
Now, you won't find a verse in the Bible explicitly stating whether the Earth is flat or round. In the version I read, it mentions a circle of the earth, implying there are boundaries that keep the waters from spilling over. But even then, should I really go out there publicly attacking people over something I haven't personally witnessed with my own eyes?

That word "circle" is tricky. It could mean a few things—like a sphere, or perhaps just a horizontal plane.
We are taught that everything in this world exists in a state of perfect balance, which seems to be the key to everything. But why don't those flat-earthers consider the possibility that centripetal and centrifugal forces are also held in that same perfect balance? Or any of the other claims made by modern scientists.

And I wonder, is Elvis even familiar with Gnostic texts, like the stories involving Yaldabaoth? If the Earth really is tilted at 66.6 degrees relative to the sun, what kind of message would that be trying to send us?

Regarding religion, it feels to me like Elvis wants to be Catholic because of the tradition, but he's right to push back against their teachings when they seem selective or lack a solid foundation in the Bible. I think it's the same story with a lot of other religions, too.

There’s actually quite a bit written in the Bible that lets you reconstruct how the ancient Hebrews viewed the world and their surroundings. Most of those reconstructions look pretty much the same, for example, like this:

If you want to dive deeper, maybe just Google "ancient Hebrew cosmology"
Oooo, wait, where’s Steven Seagal hiding? I definitely wouldn't want to be Richie 😂

I guess it’s either getting closer or moving away, though I honestly can't quite tell just yet!
So, I was just sitting here thinking about this, and I can't help but wonder—which one of them is actually moving? Like, is only one of them on the move, is one just standing perfectly still, or are they both actually in motion? It’s such a tricky thing to wrap your head around, especially when you start thinking about how that affects everything else during the process! I guess it really depends on the specifics, right? Maybe there's a way to look at it differently, but man, it's a bit of a head-scratcher!
Since there isn't any actual moving toward or away from the center, we're looking at pure circular motion here. I guess that means it could...
I guess we need to figure out which one is actually moving—or if anything is even budging at all! Maybe we can pin down if there's any motion happening here, or if everything is just staying perfectly still? I'm curious to see!

It all starts with the radius of the circle they’re moving in, which is basically the foundation for everything else you look at. I mean, that's stuff you probably learned way back in elementary school!

You didn't actually answer this question—maybe because you have some reasons for staying quiet that only you know about, but still!
He just claimed he was trolling!
Look, there’s absolutely nothing wrong with not knowing something—honestly, that’s just part of being human! But I guess it really is a bit embarrassing when you refuse to try and stay stuck in total intellectual helplessness. Maybe it's just me, but I feel like we should always be reaching for more!
Just straight-up bullying someone through sheer force. I mean, wow. That’s just intense!
I mean, honestly, maybe it’s just me, but I find that whole thing pretty embarrassing. I guess some people actually take pride in it, though!

It’s honestly kind of embarrassing when someone tries to act like an expert while clearly lacking even the most basic elementary school knowledge. I mean, maybe they just skipped a few chapters, but you can't really sell yourself as a genius like that!
Major props to the moderators! I honestly wish I had nerves like yours.

Thanks for the heads up!

So, I've run into a bit of a situation! My old PC—we're talking an older motherboard from back in 2006 with a standard PCIe x16 slot—just had its graphics card kick the bucket. I was wondering, is there any chance a newer PCIe 3.0 x16 card might actually work in it?

You really should have posted this question directly on the official PDF—you know, the complaints and inquiries handbook!
Just hang tight for a bit.
For a few specific reasons, us moderators are currently working out an agreement regarding this topic.
Either way, you'll get an explanation soon, or we'll just reopen the thread.

OK, I haven't really dealt with anything like this before, so I wasn't quite sure where to ask, or if I should even bother asking at all. Anyway, thanks! Feel free to lock this thread if that's what needs to happen.

Awesome, I see it just popped up out of nowhere! It appeared just a few minutes after that reaction, though it’s locked and there isn't any explanation yet. I guess they'll probably drop the reasoning later on, right?

Hey everyone,

So, I started a thread yesterday about religious freedoms using that "Religion" PDF, and honestly, I was just hoping we could get a nice, balanced conversation going. I thought maybe we could tackle some of those big, pressing questions—both here on the forum and in society at large—in a really calm and respectful way. There were only a couple of moderate comments at first, which seemed like a good start.

But now, out of nowhere, the whole topic is just... gone? No heads-up, no warning, no penalty points, nothing. It wasn't even locked. I'm totally lost here. What's actually going on???
