Best mobile apps for money transfers? in Banking, Insurance & Loans ·
Looks like something interesting is brewing, Apple Pay is coming our way. I just snapped a photo, and the cashier was saying it should be live pretty soon. There isn't even a mention of it on their website or in the current app yet, I guess.

I already tried deleting the app and restarting my phone, but I guess it’s still just doing the same thing...

Took them two whole days to get back to me... I guess this is just how big traditional banks try to compete with fintech 😂

I guess the Chase Maestro won't work, just their Mastercard. If you're really dead set on getting a Maestro onto Apple Pay, maybe try using Chime or bunq instead.

I end up traveling to the Netherlands a couple of times a year—where they mostly stick to Maestro—and I hit up Germany quite a bit too, where a ton of shops still only take Maestro. Honestly, even back home in the States, there are a few spots that are pretty much Maestro-only.

So, I guess it’s probably just a good idea to have it on you when you're trekking around the European Union.

@Kevin Morris12 So, did you end up pulling the trigger on the conductor? I think I finally placed my order for one today...

I think Wells Fargo is running some kind of deal on their mobile banking right now where you don't get charged any fees for the first three months, I guess.

Do you happen to know of any other online banks that offer cash deposits similar to Chime? For example, PayPal doesn't really have a top-up option like that.

Maybe try bunq.

Managed to get it added just now, I guess there was just some temporary glitch or something.

Anyone else having a hard time adding a new Chase credit card revolving to keks Pay?

I keep getting this error message:

It’s weird because I just did a top-up on my Chime card using the exact same card, and the 3DS went through totally fine...

So, I can see and actually build templates on PayPal, but for some reason, mPayPal doesn't let me do either... is it just me, or is everyone else dealing with that too?

Looks like Maestro vanished on my end too, I guess.

Kevin Morris12 said:You can check those details for free at one of their ATMs, or if you’re looking for specific codes for PayPal, Visa, or similar services, their customer support team can walk you through it. They won't—or rather, they can't—give you out your 3D Secure verification codes, so it’s definitely a smart move to link up with Visa ahead of time if you plan on doing any online shopping. Honestly, that's a massive drawback for anyone who isn't already a client of Wells Fargo. I’m actually planning to hand this card back once my six months of free online banking expires. It’s not even because I’m unhappy with the card itself; it’s just that I have no way to properly track my spending unless I start paying extra for online banking access. And yet, they market themselves so aggressively as being open to customers from other banks! At this point, trying to use a card without functional online banking is like being handed a car without a steering wheel...

Is it actually possible that you can't even check your transactions on this card through an app or website unless you sign up for some extra monthly fee for the online banking service?

I mean, I really expected this to be included for free, kind of like how a Visa card comes with Wayfair or an American Express card gives you access to Amazon.

I’ve been stuck with this new app design for a few months now, and honestly, I think the old one was way better looking.

It’s such a bummer that the conductor doesn't support Apple Pay yet.

Seriously, I was totally going to ask how you actually pulled off the whole Klarna thing after seeing it sitting there in your Apple Pay wallet, but it completely slipped my mind.

Awesome

So, they went ahead and swapped out that old "Black" plan yesterday, and now it's rebranded as "You."

Kevin Morris12 said:Back when I first opened an account, Twitter was actually one of the few major players offering support for US dollars, long before Chime became a thing—not to mention Stripe, which honestly feels like it’s in a completely different league compared to the rest. Even now, Twitter offers a much wider variety of currencies than Chime does. Plus, you can actually set up bank accounts for various markets through them; for instance, you can grab a US account and seamlessly link it to your American PayPal to withdraw funds without getting hit by any commission fees. Another big difference? Twitter provides actual debit cards, whereas Chime just gives you prepaid ones. While Twitter used to have a clear edge over Chime, it still has plenty of unique perks to offer today. That said, I’m really hoping they eventually get their act together and lower those pesky fees so they can truly compete with Chime on equal footing. At the end of the day, every one of these services has its strengths, and none of them are perfect. 🙂

I've been using it for like two years now, but man, those fees just keep climbing higher and higher. I guess that whole PayPal workaround is basically the only reason I haven't ditched it yet.
