Suggestion for the admins in Feedback & Suggestions ·
I can't say I agree with you on this one...

I don't see how that would actually help.
In my view, users need a window of time to edit their posts, and that 90-minute buffer is perfectly reasonable.

You could just suggest it—or ask the moderators directly—that they hold off for a bit after issuing a ban.

That’s my take, anyway. Forgive me if I'm overstepping, I know I wasn't asked...
Hey everyone! in Feedback & Suggestions ·
rustydrifter10, thanks. You’re a total 😍

Go ahead and delete this account I used to start the thread.

I hadn't changed my password 🤷 but it’s working now, thanks.

P.S. I'm changing it immediately—who knows if someone else was 😬

Question about code:
Why is it that in some places:
(like Alternative Medicine) both HTML and IMG are OFF
(like here in Forum Help!) HTML is OFF
(but in Jokes) everything is set to ON

What determines how these subforums are set up, and why is certain code disabled while other parts stay enabled?

northerncyclist2 said:The issue with those little icons is there’s zero feedback to let users know what’s actually happening with their report.

Sure, but you can just report a post and wait. If nothing happens after a bit, come back, say you filed a report and nothing was done, drop the link, and it'll get handled. Don't expect a post to be nuked the second it appears, but if it’s still sitting there even after the icon shows up, speak up. You can complain without a formal report, but at least have the decency to specify which PDF you're flagging—drop a link to the thread or a screenshot.

northerncyclist2 said:Seriously, tell me why you spend the last few dozen posts sucking up to the mods? Is there some kind of kickback involved, or are you just your typical American self? ☕

No, I don't get anything. If you actually want to talk, my PMs are open. Just because I don't insult people, spam, or troll—and actually try to be helpful—doesn't mean I'm kissing up. I'm doing this purely out of boredom.
Look, the moderators aren't superheroes hovering over us 24/7. They have lives outside of this forum. If an insulting post isn't removed, maybe nobody even saw it. It’s much easier to just hit the report button. If nothing happens, then come here and complain.
It's impossible for anyone to help you if you don't even provide the PDF you're complaining about.

Where? It’s against the rules. If you spot a post like that out in the wild and it hasn't been scrubbed yet, hit that flag icon and report it. The mods aren't superheroes. They can't catch every single insult or violation on their own.

Here, maybe this link will help you out: Generally speaking, Uncle Sam and Nick are the most active users here, if I recall correctly. You could try asking them directly, or just resend the email. They might have missed it...

Sorry to barge in. Sophia Thomas7 is actually referring to this thread: The topic is likely locked because the questions were answered, and that’s that. Once you get your answers, the matter is considered settled and closed. You can request an unlock, but starting a whole new thread about the exact same issue is just redundant. Just ask the admins if they can reopen it so you can post your rebuttal, and leave it at that.

As far as I know, there isn't a set timeframe... But wait for someone from administration to weigh in. 🙂
What are the criteria for a permanent ban appeal rejection? in Feedback & Suggestions ·
I’m certain it wasn't deleted without cause.
The mods know the difference between deleting a thread and just locking it. It’s probably not appropriate to leave a thread full of massive insults sitting there just locked, because other users will see it and think they can keep going...

Can someone change my signature color to maroon? ( And don't even try telling me no! )

Thanks.

Yeah, I wrote it, though I couldn't quite find the right term on the spot—"outdated data" was the first thing that came to mind, so I just went with that. Regardless, the point is that the moderators need to be aware of this issue.
That’s all from me. This isn't a chat room.

I know that. That’s why I emphasized it in my previous post—look at the bold text.

As far as I can tell, the maximum avatar size is 75px x 75px. But it also states 50px x 50px (not sure about moderators):

Sure, it might be outdated, but the specs have changed and now it's just plain wrong.

I’m not sure what to title this thread, so let's just go with "FAQ error."
As far as I can tell, the maximum avatar size is 75px x 75px. Yet, the FAQ still claims it's 50px x 50px (and I'm not even sure what the rule is for moderators right now):

The way he complains and his choice of words are usually what trigger thread locks.
It’s possible that’s why it was taken down, but I suspect the moderator made a mistake. Since I didn't actually see the thread, I can't say for sure what happened, so I won't speculate too much.

Look, let’s be real... Yes. If he’s actually active, contributing meaningful content, and engaging with the community, then why wouldn't he be?
It's not like he just showed up talking about something he's never heard of in his life, dropping random emojis without a clue. You even admitted himself that he has way more posts than those so-called Spam users. He's active. If he treats the users well and they're on board with it, what's the issue? I don't see a problem here at all... 🙂

Spam is just unsolicited junk mail.
Interpret that however you want. I gave an example using a smiley face. From what I can see, we don't really deal with this kind of "spam" in the more serious threads. At least not from the moderators. This Forum was built for unwinding—it's meant for casual engagement, even if people call it "post padding," though that's not quite accurate.

Someone posts a photo, and another user replies with a single emoji. Fine.
If that emoji expresses how they feel—rather than writing out a whole paragraph about their emotions regarding a picture—then it’s fine. But it shouldn't be constant. As far as I can tell, it happens maybe once or twice per page. In my opinion, that's perfectly acceptable.
It doesn't matter which specific emoji someone uses. For instance, you might use one to show you're in a hurry, or to signal that a picture is funny and caught your eye. It communicates something; it's like saying "I like this." You're active in the thread, you see a funny image or text a moment later, and you drop an emoji. You aren't wandering around the Forum just dropping emojis everywhere. You're participating in the conversation, occasionally adding a reaction, and it's no big deal.

Feel free to hit that button whenever you see it. Most moderators here are volunteers; they’re either swamped or they just don't feel like cleaning up every single post, and handing out a ban is overkill for that. So, a lot of stuff flies under the radar.
Usually, they only step in to delete or punish if someone keeps doing it repeatedly.

Plus, the rules don't say "strictly prohibited." It says to avoid it, but if you slip up once or twice, it's not the end of the world...

But honestly, it all comes down to how a moderator interprets things. Not everyone sees it the same way. It's not black and white. It depends on the context of the emoji and how much tolerance that specific mod has. They probably won't let a spammer get away with it, even if they'd give a regular member a pass.

Besides, this thread is basically "spam territory"—it isn't some high-stakes debate.

I agree that moderators often lack objectivity, but I’d love to actually see you be impartial. That’s a tall order. We’re human. We have biases. I haven't been a moderator on this forum myself (I just signed up 😁), but I know how difficult it is to stay neutral every single time—especially when you consider this PDF 🙂

I'm not taking the moderator's side here, but I'm not taking yours either.
