I was thinking about this today while watching some old clips. It feels like in the modern era, the second a professional athlete hits a bump in the road—even if it’s something they’ve already dealt with personally—the narrative immediately shifts to how it's "affecting the team" or "being a distraction."
It seems like there's this unspoken rule that once you've moved past a personal situation, you're expected to just be a robot for the organization. But humans aren't built like that. We carry our baggage, and sometimes the very act of trying to move on and focus on work is what triggers the media to go back and dig up the old stuff. It feels a bit unfair to demand total emotional vacuum from someone just because they have a high-profile job.
Do you think it's even possible for a player to fully separate their private struggles from their professional reputation anymore, or is the "distraction" label just inevitable now?
Look, it’s not even about whether I can use them for ironing or whatever—my signature literally says cash only. This is a prepaid setup. I used to have Mastercards, but they switched them all over to Key West. Now, there are certain sites where I absolutely need a master to get anything done.
I actually signed up back when they first hit the market—there was this whole thing involving Enc where you could snag a bonus if you played it right. Back then, they were asking for my Social Security number, so I bailed. But now? I really need a quick master, and luckily, my login and password are still good to go.
I tried again last night and ran into the same wall. I shot them an email, and get this—they called me back within 15 minutes! They told me it was weird because apparently, I’m an "isolated case." Though, looking at the forums, it seems like a bunch of us are stuck in this same kind of isolation. To be fair, they were Extra polite—no complaints there. They apologized and even offered to let me email over my ID. I passed, though. Like people have already said here, if they're giving me the runaround right out of the gate, I don't trust it.
We shouldn't all have to be freaking experts in payment processing and stuff; this whole thing is marketed as being dead simple. If you're hitting snags on step one, what's the point?
I’ve got a ton of apps on my phone linked to all sorts of different cards, and I have never—not once—had an issue or been forced to call customer support immediately just to get things moving.
If it works for you guys and you're making bank, great. For me? I'm not feeling it, and honestly, my gut has been telling me something's off since the very beginning.
John Phillips22 said:I doubt many people are going to show up with surveys in hand. Most folks have already installed the app and added the exact same card that you’re having trouble with. Very few people buy something first and then bother installing the app afterward. It’s like seeing shoes in a storefront window; you don't just grab a size 9 and head home—you try them on first. If you had just installed the app initially and seen that it crashes or fails verification, you could have avoided wasting $10. If you actually managed to get the app running, I'm sure adding the card would be as easy as it was for everyone else. The issue isn't that the card doesn't work; it's that you can't use it because you can't get the app to install, and nobody knows why. You received some advice, decided it wasn't worth the effort, threw $10 away instead, and that's that. You warned others about the registration issues, which might prevent someone else from making the same mistake, so fine. But declaring the whole thing invalid just because you couldn't get it activated isn't exactly >. Out of curiosity, I tried installing it on a different phone and everything works perfectly. Have you even tried contacting support through the app? Maybe you're doing something wrong.
Honestly, I have no idea why I should be expected to act as a beta tester before I even use it.
It's like buying a fridge, but first I have to make sure the delivery truck is actually in working order.
What kind of nonsense is that?
The product was pitched to the general public as this ultra-simple tool that bypasses banks and loans.
I'm just pointing out that the product isn't what it claims to be right now, and I'm warning people that they'll likely get pissed off when the app crashes and locks them out. And now I'm being interrogated about my "why" and "how."
They pitch this "innovation" to the mass market, and instead of being flawless at launch when they're supposed to be winning over new clients, I'm apparently the one who's supposed to be auditing them to see why things aren't working.
I am not some free tester—if anything, I'm paying them $10 to figure out why they aren't living up to their own hype.
I swear, it's this kind of mindset that keeps us stuck where we are.
Nope.
I only posted because I knew someone else would show up here with their head spinning, wondering why this junk isn't working—and then they'd see my post and realize they aren't the only ones dealing with this mess.
If I actually wanted a solution, I’d be asking *why* the app keeps crashing and how to fix it.
But let’s be real—their marketing is killer. They picked the perfect keywords for their ads, so you read it and think, "Oh, this is easy! I'll just grab one at News Corp, download the app, follow the steps, and boom—it works. No wasting time at Chase, plus I get some freebies for using it."
Second thing—at least from what I can see, there hasn't been a single word from them apologizing for the technical glitches they're having, or even saying they'll fix it ASAP. People deserve a heads-up so they know whether to try earning rewards or just skip the whole thing. Or better yet, a pop-up in the app telling you to wait it out.
Thirdly, if they're this sloppy right out of the gate, what else can we even expect?
Seriously, the whole campaign was set up to make this look like something totally Comcast.
The only thing "wow" about it was the number of times the system crashed.
John Phillips22 said:Your style is way too aggressive. You can only be mad at yourself for buying something without checking if it actually works first. It’s common sense: spend five minutes verifying the activation before you commit, and if the aircash fails, then you can call them trash and refuse the card. Just vent your frustrations wherever you want then. I was trying to give you advice so those $10 don't go to waste, but you're responding like you're arguing with aircash customer service instead of asking for help on a forum. Try this other login method; maybe it'll work. Reinstalling the app fixed some issues for me, so it's not all bad.
It’s not "aggressive," it's called having standards. I want quality, and I don't want to waste my life on stuff an elementary schooler could fix in two seconds.
Where did I go wrong here? I buy it, I follow the instructions, it doesn't work, so I publicly say I don't recommend it—and suddenly I'm the villain for daring to get annoyed? Unbelievable.
I didn't mess up anything except being naive enough to trust them.
And no, I didn't just buy this on a whim—I bought it specifically to avoid those annoying monthly fees from Mastercard's banks. I naively thought I could solve that problem with Southwest Airlines.
What else am I supposed to apologize to Southwest Airlines for? Do they have moths in their offices or something?
My time and my money are valuable, and I'm not just handing them out for free.
You can't sell a product that DOESN'T WORK.
If I have dirty laundry and someone delivers me a washing machine with a software bug that won't let me wash anything, what am I supposed to do? Just act like a hippie and pretend everything is fine?

Gajotres, thanks a ton for the tip.
Still, I'm gonna steer clear of them.
John Phillips22 said:Just hang tight. Try reinstalling the app in a few hours or maybe even a day. Everyone’s been reporting glitches with the app lately, so it’s likely just some bug in the system. Honestly, it's always smarter to get the free version installed before you even think about buying a card 🙂
Wait, who was the client again?
I'm not waiting around for them—they push these things so hard in their ads that people rush to activate them, but honestly, the whole thing is just full of bugs.
Besides, I need Michael Jordan right now, not some subpar product while I wait on someone else.
That’s just not how you run a business.
So, I went ahead and grabbed one of their cards today.
I downloaded the app, followed every single instruction, but the second I try to scan my ID, the whole thing just crashes. Constant crashes. I tried restarting my phone, I even nuked the app and reinstalled it—nothing works. It’s just broken.
Honestly, what a total waste of $10 money.
I need to pick up some PHDs from the hospital in Jordan—specifically for pulmonary stuff.
Does anyone actually know where I need to go to grab them?
The ward told me to just call the archives, but does anyone know the exact location within Jordan (or maybe at the Mayo Clinic)?
Thanks
Laser.
So, we finally pulled the trigger on a Samsung, even though we were an HP household before this.
From what I could dig up, my old HP actually ended up being cheaper per page than the Brother, Dell, or Samsung models.
Now I'm just sitting here wondering—how's this Samsung actually going to hold up?
Can anyone help me out here?
We’re stuck trying to decide whether to pull the trigger on an All-in-one from HP or just go with an Apple model.
Does anyone actually know which one is better?
We don't even print that much every month, so we don't need anything crazy.
You just go running along, turn right around, and slap an L on your forehead with a big ol' grin 😁
