Arthur Clark said:I’ve got a weird situation going on.
Back in September 2017, they drew blood from my right arm. They probably punctured the vein because I ended up with a massive hematoma. I dealt with issues in that arm for about a year. By the time the 12-month mark hit, if I was out in the cold—say, 40 degrees Fahrenheit—my arm would really start aching. It cleared up after the first month, and I started getting back into light exercise and swimming. Then, about two months later, I felt some discomfort in that right arm again, though it passed relatively quickly.
Then, halfway through my training, I noticed that after showering, it looks like surface capillaries or something burst. There's this strange redness and some bruising. It almost looks like an allergic reaction.
I saw a vascular surgeon, and he said he didn't see any changes in the vein or that specific area. I'm quite thin, and the surgeon was actually shocked at how little body fat I have; all my veins are sitting right there near the surface. My veins are extremely prominent on my arms.
A second vascular surgeon suggested it might be dietary, which made me realize that about ten days before the redness first appeared, I had been drinking chokeberry juice. I was only having small, recommended amounts, and I stopped immediately once the redness showed up.
But the redness kept happening after showers even after I quit the juice. In mid-June, I noticed a slight redness on my left arm too, right in the fold of the arm. That’s when I started thinking this has nothing to do with the blood draw on my right arm.
Then, after a trip down to the coast at the end of June, the redness disappeared. Everything seemed fine, except it flared up again a few days ago.
Now, I had eaten some blueberries for breakfast a couple of days before that. But just small amounts.
At this point, I definitely sound like a lunatic and a hypochondriac.
I want to figure out what's going on because I lift weights quite a bit due to some spinal issues, mostly high reps with lighter weights. I recently ramped up my training and that part of my right arm started itching. Sure, I was sweaty, but I could specifically feel the spot where the redness appears. I’ve never had this issue before. And after my shower, the redness and light bruising returned on my right arm.
My doctor told me that since the redness eventually goes away, it isn't medically significant. So much for 21st-century medicine.
And if it's just "idiopathic"... you sound like a total idiot.
It's nothing life-threatening or serious.
